Bodhi theory
Six ancestors Huineng
Bodhi has no trees, and the mirror is not a stage. There was nothing, so there was no dust.
translate
There is no bodhi tree, nor is it a bright stage. As long as sex is empty, how can there be dust?
Creation background
As for the origin of this poem, there is a clear record in the fourth to eighth sections of the Tanjing: Hongren, the fifth ancestor, "called all his disciples one day" and asked everyone to "write a poem". He also said, "If you get the gist", that is, "Fu Yi is as good as the law, which is an important thing for six generations." Shen Xiu, the last disciple of Hong Ren, wrote a poem in front of the door: "I am a bodhi tree, and my heart is like a mirror platform. Wipe it frequently to make it dust-free. " When Hong Ren learned of this, he "summoned the abbot" and said that "if you do this, you won't be in front of you" and "if you find the supreme bodhi, you won't be there", so he asked him to "write another poem". And "it's impossible to show off for a few days." Huineng's poems are directed at Shen Xiu's Five Fragrant Books. According to the altar sutra, Huineng couldn't read, so she first "asked someone to read" the beautiful melody, and then wrote this song "asked a scholar to write it at the Western Wall".
works appreciation
This was discovered in the Tanjing written in Dunhuang. As for the origin of this poem, there is a clear record in the fourth to eighth sections of the Tanjing: Hongren, the fifth ancestor, "called all his disciples one day" and asked everyone to "write a poem". He also said that "if the main idea is realized", that is, "paying for clothes is six generations." Shen Xiu, the last disciple of Hong Ren, wrote a poem in front of the door: "I am a bodhi tree, and my heart is like a mirror platform. Wipe it frequently to make it dust-free. " When Hong Ren learned about this, he told Mo Xiu to sit in the class and said, "You won't get it if you read it", "If you find the supreme bodhi, you won't get it" and told him to "write another poem". And "it's impossible to show off for a few days." Huineng's poems are aimed at the beautiful "spiced tree". According to the altar sutra, Huineng couldn't read, so she first "asked someone to read" the beautiful melody, and then wrote this song "asked a scholar to write it at the Western Wall".
Brief introduction of the author
Hui Neng (638-7 13), a common surname of Lu, lost his father at the age of three, came from a poor family, and lived as an adoptive mother by chopping wood for a long time. At the age of twenty-four, Huineng resigned from her mother and became a monk, and went to Dongshan Temple, Huangmei, Hubei Province to pay homage to Hong Ren, the fifth ancestor. I am a novice, and I have been working hard with everyone, stepping on the rice. Later, because he wrote a poem about Buddhism, he was praised by Hong Ren and instructed him to pay for clothes, becoming the sixth ancestor of Zen Buddhism. Due to the fierce competition for ancestral position within Buddhism at that time, Huineng was in distress many times and finally hid in seclusion among hunters for fifteen years. After forbearance, Huineng began to preach the law and receive the precepts. Since then, Buddhism has developed for more than 30 years and spread widely. Wu Zetian and Tang Zhongzong heard about their fame, and wrote many times to apply for admission to Beijing, but Huineng refused to serve the imperial edict. In July13 (the second year of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty), Huineng went to NSW, aged 70.
