Yan Xin, a "qigong master" in 1980s, claimed that he could intercept the atomic bomb with qigong. What happened afterwards?
In 1980s and 1990s, Qigong was all the rage in China. At the peak, there are ten thousand people practicing Qigong in the square. Later, when the lie of Qigong master Yan Xin was exposed, he had to fly away. It is said that he is still "preaching and dispelling doubts" overseas. These qigong masters brag. Why does anyone still want to believe it?

A teacher from scratch, from scratch.

Yan Xin, male, 1950, from Jiangyou, Sichuan. Primary school, junior high school and high school are all studying in Jiangyou. After graduation, I studied in Mianyang Health School for two and a half years, then returned to a hospital in Jiangyou as a doctor, and then transferred to Jiangyou County Health and Epidemic Prevention Station to work until August 1974.

In September, I went back to the furnace for reconstruction and entered the medical department of Chengdu College of Traditional Chinese Medicine for further study. After graduation, he was assigned to Mianyang Chinese Medicine School as a teacher. His subjects include internal medicine, gynecology and basic theory.

From 65438 to 0982, Yan Xin was transferred to Chongqing Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, mainly responsible for clinical work. At this stage, he began to treat patients with the combination of traditional Chinese and western medicine and qigong therapy, and later claimed that his qigong could treat intractable diseases. At that time, many people claimed that they were cured by Yan Xin's "Qigong". Suddenly, many people came to Yan Xin for medical treatment, and his fame gradually began.

Yan Xin began to claim that he was an apprentice of the Shaolin monk "Master Hayden", who was also from Jiangyou, Sichuan, and claimed that he had "peerless martial arts", which was later proved to be false.

But at that time, Master Hayden's apprentice was really famous. Yan Xin took advantage of this, and with several years of Chinese medicine background, he started his life of fraud.

A generation of qigong masters

From 65438 to 0985, Yan Xin had a group of faithful believers, and his story even attracted the attention of the media. Sports fans, Qigong and science magazines embellished his story and widely reported it.

At that time, the people were simple and believed in the anecdotes reported in newspapers and magazines. What seems incredible now was considered normal at that time.

1987, a big fire broke out in Daxinganling. Yan Xin received an urgent letter from the headquarters in shenyang military area command. The letter said, I heard that Qigong in Yan Xin can put out fires, and I wonder if I can help in this respect.

Yan Xin enclosed himself in a small building 2000 kilometers away from Daxing 'anling, claiming that he would start working. After he finished his work, he told his followers that the fire would be slowed down in three days.

Sure enough, with the efforts of officers and men, the fire in Daxing 'anling weakened three days later and went out a few days later. Yan Xin said, I put out the fire.

The media reported this incident, and the believers in Yan Xin were boiling. Their owners can even put out mountain fires. What miracle is impossible? With the fermentation of this incident, Yan Xin became more and more influential. Later, he said that he could intercept the atomic bomb.

On the other hand, Yan Xin didn't forget to collect money. He offered classes, charged high tuition fees, and sold a teaching tape at the price of one in 80 yuan. In the1980s, it was ridiculously expensive to buy a tape in 80 yuan, but people kept buying it.

Yan Xin also held lectures everywhere to publicize the benefits of Qigong, which attracted more people to follow him and further expanded his influence. He once called thousands of people to practice collectively in an empty square on an unprecedented scale.

Most importantly, the news that Yan Xin has cured patients keeps coming from all over the country. People are convinced of this generation of Qigong masters and are willing to fall at their feet.

The story came to light and fled overseas

At that time, there were a large number of "capable people" in China who were similar to Yan Xin. What they had in common was that they all had special functions or some kind of "kung fu". Ignorant people worship these so-called masters all day, and their bad style is getting worse.

1979 A child named Tang Yu was found in Dazu County, Sichuan Province. Since then, a number of children have sprung up all over the country who can read through their noses and armpits, and all the organs that can be used at once have been used.

1In May, 979, People's Daily published two articles by Ye Shengtao, which refuted this nonsense and thought that it was an insult to build four modernized China against scientific common sense.

Therefore, from 198 1 to 1982, opponents and supporters of power have had a long debate. In the voice of opposition, Yu Guangyuan is the leader. He publicly stated that there is no scientific basis for such things as ear literacy and qigong to cure terminal diseases.

Shen Zhenyu is the deputy editor-in-chief of Newsletter on Dialectics of Nature. At that time, influenced by Yu Guangyuan, the editorial department temporarily set up a "contact group for investigation and research on human specific functions", and she became the person in charge.

She faithfully recorded people's enthusiasm for qigong and channeling at that time. In her view, qigong masters at that time were like stars, and they would be sought after wherever they went. At that time, the whole society was in a state of fanaticism, and the voice of the opposition could not hear the voice of the public.

1994, the central government finally began to manage these masters of psychic and qigong, and issued "Several Opinions on Strengthening Science Popularization", clearly proposing to put an end to pseudoscience. At this time, Yu Guangyuan and Shen Zhenyu's remarks were re-valued, and the swindlers on the "Jianghu" scattered and fled, and this pseudo-scientific farce finally ended.

At this time, Yan Xin gradually lost his reputation in China, because his boasting was getting bigger and bigger. At a public development ceremony, he failed to help paralyzed patients stand up, and people's trust in him began to collapse.

After the news from the central authorities came out, he packed his things and fled overseas overnight, but even so, he still didn't give up. His activities abroad are mainly in the United States and Canada. He took out the old ways to deceive people who knew nothing about Qigong, held Qigong lectures and publicized his magical power. The purpose is to charge high tuition fees to satisfy his luxurious life.

Yan Xin's move was also supported by the US government, which used it as an example to publicize the political persecution of China and discredit China. When necessary, say that the two sides are in cahoots and get what they want.

Summary:

The background of that era played an inestimable role in the success of deceiving master Yan Xin. After the Cultural Revolution, the idea of imprisonment was suddenly liberated, and people had a high degree of acceptance of new things, but their ability to distinguish was not strong. Qigong and people with special functions use various deceptive means to show people their "superb" skills, and simple people will believe it.

In addition, at that time, China was in the desire of "how to quickly catch up with the beauty of the Premier League", and its own scientific research system was weak. When it can't produce effective results quickly, some high-level officials have thought of ways to save the country with special functions, such as Nature, which is one of the books on this theory.

Qian Xuesen, the father of missiles, once published his views on human experiments in this magazine, which he called "the second Renaissance in human history". Qian Xuesen may have been influenced by Soviet human experiments, but his words greatly publicized the special functions and scientific status of qigong practitioners, thus igniting the last fire of this farce.

But the paper can't cover the fire, and the scammers finally exposed themselves one by one. Yan Xin and other special talents appeared in the sky after several medical accidents caused the death of patients. By 1995, under the leadership of the state, this unhealthy trend was finally eliminated and the social order began to get on the right track.

The wave of qigong is a complete farce. Being used by different forces to package pseudoscience into a feast has brought serious disasters to the whole society.

Only by breaking superstition and dialectically applying scientific methods can we truly explore the mysteries of life and the universe and guide the correct direction for the future development of mankind.
