How to treat tennis elbow?
Tennis elbow refers to lateral epicondylitis of humerus, which is a common cause of lateral pain of elbow joint. It is caused by muscle strain of the lateral elbow joint caused by abnormal tennis posture, mostly in middle age or above. The lateral pain of elbow joint caused by strain activity will affect the portable heavy objects in severe cases. There is obvious tenderness point on the outside of elbow joint. The origin of extensor carpi radialis attached to the lateral epicondyle of humerus can be found to be degenerated and torn by ultrasound or magnetic resonance imaging. Treatment methods include the following: First, reduce the activities of hands and forearms. Let the muscles outside the elbow joint rest fully. Don't twist towels or lift heavy objects. Second, below the elbow plane, wear tennis elbow braces in the most abundant parts of forearm muscles, improve the pain on the outside of elbow joint and promote the healing of injured muscles by limiting the contraction force of muscles. Third, shock wave therapy can be performed at the pain point. Fourth, the pain point can be blocked locally, and compound betamethasone or triamcinolone acetonide can be injected for anti-inflammatory treatment. After 1-2 times of blocking, the pain of several patients was obviously relieved and the symptoms gradually disappeared. Fifth, if the above treatment is still not significantly relieved, the course of disease is more than half a year, which is called intractable tennis elbow. In this case, the effect of blocking and shock wave therapy is very unsatisfactory. It is necessary to remove the local pathological tissue by surgery. After the diseased tissue is removed, the local tissue can be healed by plaster fixation, and the symptoms can be gradually relieved or even completely disappeared.
