A high degree of self-discipline
Self-discipline is your ability to control your thoughts and actions and make yourself act according to the established plan. Imagine how you can achieve the goal you set according to the plan without being affected by anything else. Try to say to yourself, "You are overweight, you should lose 10kg." If you can't discipline yourself, it will always be just a dream. But if you can be self-disciplined, you can achieve it.

I shared an article in Zhihu to answer "What is the experience of high self-discipline? What kind of experience is high self-discipline? -the answer of the residual cow, the author mainly tells his highly self-disciplined work style. First of all, he has a very good time plan and can act very mechanically. Secondly, he has a very good habit, which enables him to maintain a high degree of self-discipline for a long time. In addition, the author spends most of his time in a crowded ecological environment, which will be crushed if he is not careful. This makes the author a more self-disciplined person in two ways. On the one hand, when you are in a group of people who are equally self-disciplined, you will keep pace with them more permanently. On the other hand, the people around you are awesome, and the situation will not let you relax at all, but will force you to work harder.

I have to say that this answer has a good reference for many people. However, this article does not fundamentally talk about how to achieve self-discipline. To this end, I want to make a little supplement, according to my experience, to reveal the causes of self-discipline and how to cultivate self-control from a deeper level.

1. The importance of self-discipline on the road of life

For a person with strong ambition, self-discipline is very important. From Aristotle, an ancient encyclopedic scientist, to modern philosophers, it has been noted that "a good life is based on self-control."

What kind of experience is self-discipline? I want to answer that self-discipline has made me the person I wanted to be a few years ago. If I am not self-disciplined, I think I will easily make mistakes in many things, and it is only a matter of time before I make mistakes. In that case, my stage goal will definitely be greatly affected. As a result, the idea I had many years ago could not be realized at all.

For example, imagine that when you are making a high-tech work, every step you do is extremely important, including all the measurements, calculations and so on. Only when each step is accurate enough can the final process be qualified. Classical physics tells us that in the classical world (or macro world), if we want to get a definite result. Then, you need to understand the laws of nature first, then calculate the initial conditions according to the set results, and then do it according to the initial conditions to get the desired results. Avenue figured it out, the physical problem is just a simplified practical problem. In real life, if we want to achieve a specific goal, we need to give a specific initial value to a system. For your life path, this is similar. Only when you are precise enough in every step, and only when you do something correctly, can you reach the destination you set, which happens naturally and does not need to be forced.

2. The relationship between ambition and self-discipline

The one above talked about the importance of self-discipline. Now let's talk about why only some people are self-disciplined. For example, there is a Zhang San who just wants to be a gangster, so he doesn't care what he does, but only enjoys it all day. He is likely to live such a life, playing games, picking up girls, smoking, drinking, gambling, going to nightclubs, eating, drinking and having fun, and doing whatever he wants. There is no need to treat such people. This kind of person seems to us to have no self-discipline for obvious reasons. They have no pursuit and naturally have no self-discipline. Just like a system without a set result, it will naturally run in chaos. So, who are those people who have no ambition, although they are not gangsters? I don't think they are much different. Goals determine thoughts, thoughts determine behavior, and pursuing nature with low life value does not require high self-discipline.

For example, if an enterprise wants to produce sophisticated products, it must have very sophisticated equipment. Other enterprises just want to produce ordinary products, and ordinary equipment is enough. For such enterprises, excellent equipment is extravagant and wasteful, but it is also useless. If you want to produce high-tech products as an entrepreneur, every small part of the precision equipment you need has high specifications. Similarly, in order to achieve high life value, everything in work and life must be extremely exquisite. To be exquisite, you need to be strict with yourself with self-discipline, just as your equipment needs to be made according to very strict specifications and standards. This is why some people can achieve a high degree of self-discipline, while others cannot. Here, some people do lose weight, while most people are obese for a long time. I think people who are obese for a long time often have no strong desire to lose weight first. In their view, I am obese, and I am willing. In this case, losing weight can only be a long dream for ten thousand years.

Let's talk about the relationship between ideal and self-control according to our own situation. I have always been a dreamer. The reason why I am in this state is directly related to a dream I had more than ten years ago. This dream not only influenced my living habits and way of thinking, but also shaped and even changed my character and conduct. I want to be a scholar, which requires me to maintain vigorous energy, active brain power and good health for a long time, and then invest a lot of effective time in my focused field. To achieve the above requirements, I must first have a very good lifestyle, eating habits and regular physical exercise, and then I need to develop the habit of extensive reading and good thinking (this is not difficult for me, I have these habits since I was a child). I have done a lot of things to achieve my desired state. 1. Living habits, routine, diet. I haven't missed a lunch or dinner for seven years in a row (I didn't eat for three days because of a food poisoning seven years ago), I didn't stay up all night in 78, and I hardly stayed up all night in 78. In terms of diet, we pay more attention to safety and health now. I gave up all carbonated drinks in high school, then I gave up sweets (in fact, I have to taste some for myself every time I eat cake now) and puffed food, then I gave up fried food, and after graduation, I gave up delicious hot pot and barbecue one after another. In the last three years, I gradually got used to a low-salt diet, which made me feel very relaxed. In the past three years, compared with before, the most eaten food has changed from rice to porridge. 3. Avoid many temptations. I seldom watch TV, movies and participate in group entertainment activities (it was not like this before). In the past nine years, I have only watched one TV series (excluding watching TV with my parents at home), and 1 1 movie was seen in 2006- 14. In addition, in terms of avoiding temptation, the last time I visited a bad website was seven years ago. I haven't been exposed to any erotic information since. I know that these things will erode a person's fighting spirit and disillusion a person's ideals. It was really hard to do, but I did it. There are too many temptations in modern society. When you face these temptations, please imagine that you will have brilliant achievements tomorrow and all the temptations will disappear. 4. Exercise regularly. Exercise keeps me in good health for a long time. I can't remember the last time I took medicine. I think it was eight or nine years ago This is actually not difficult for most people. Read more books than before. In recent years, most of my spare time has been spent reading books and staring blankly. In 2007-08, I read 140 books. Of course, there are many popular science books and social science books in this 100 book, which is not difficult to read. In 2004, the total borrowing volume of1-13 was 2 13, of which 4/5 were professional textbooks, and at least 1/4 books were badly chewed by me. Although reading books is not much, it is obviously much more than before. More importantly, reading has become an internal demand. Reading feels like three meals a day, and you have to eat after ordering. Meditation or just staring blankly is definitely a high-input and low-output activity, and it may produce a good idea in the next 3 s every three hours of staring blankly. Even so, we have to do it. In addition, long-term curious thinking makes me more and more focused on what I do. Deep thinking about the inner nature of things has repeated stimulation to the brain. Over time, the brain naturally processes related things out of control, and naturally it can enter ecstasy mode.
