Dongxiang Town is the administrative, economic and cultural center of Jinxiang County, bordering Buji Township in the north, Gaohe Township in the east, Yushan Town in the west and Wangpi Town in the south. The rivers in the territory mainly include the east-west New Wanfu River, the old Wanfu River and Jinma River, and the north-south Jinji River, Laihe River and Dasha River.

There are 54 villagers' committees in the town with a population of 105798, including 83999 urban residents and 2 1799 rural residents, covering an area of 7038.7 hectares and 3667.0 hectares of cultivated land.
