The Institute of Physical Education of Jilin University was established in July, 20001. In 2006, the former Public Physical Education Research Center of Jilin University was merged into the Institute of Physical Education, and the integrated Institute of Physical Education was divided into two parts: physical education professional teaching and public physical education teaching. Mainly responsible for physical education teaching in our college, physical education class teaching in the whole school, mass sports activities in the school, training and competition of high-level sports teams, physical health examination of students, postgraduate training and so on. The college pays attention to the construction of teaching staff, and in line with the concept of running schools by experts, it has introduced a group of sports experts in recent years, forming a teaching staff with good quality and reasonable structure.

There are 30 teachers engaged in professional physical education, including 8 professors and 8 associate professors. Among them, 3 teachers have doctoral degrees, 6 are studying for doctoral degrees, and 16 have master's degrees. The college has three undergraduate majors: social sports, physical education and sports training, and three master programs: sports humanities and sociology, sports human science, curriculum and teaching theory. Since the establishment of the Institute, more than 100 papers have been published, including more than 20 papers from sports core journals. At the same time, two papers were selected for the Athens Olympic Games and the Olympic Sports Science Conference, and three papers were selected for the second international conference on school sports. He has also presided over and undertaken more than 20 national, ministerial and provincial scientific research projects, with disposable scientific research funds of 390,000 yuan, published 5 monographs and 8 teaching materials.
