Open the map of China, across the mountains, across the plains, across the rushing Yellow River and Yangtze River, overlooking the eastern coastline. There is a peninsula that extends to the east of the world like a mother's arm. Jin Yue is near the sea. It is called Jiaodong. The beautiful and warm Yantai nestles in her powerful arms.

The eastern foot of Taihang Mountain, like Taihang Mountain in Shanxi, belongs to the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River civilization. Since the late Paleolithic period, human beings have thrived in this land of Yantai. Primitive ancestors followed the natural environment of the peninsula, obtained biological resources from mountains and rivers, opened up living space, created ancient culture with coastal characteristics and wrote the first chapter of Yantai's long human history.

Jiaodong Peninsula, formed hundreds of millions of years ago, is a typical hilly landform. This used to be an ideal habitat for paleontology. Life was born and continued here before human beings appeared. 1 000 years ago, in the late Paleolithic period, the ape-man broke away and the human figure appeared in Yantai. They use stone tools and other auxiliary tools to hunt by mountain and fish by water. They lived in primitive groups after the Paleolithic Age and the Neolithic Age. At the same time, humans began to manufacture and use grinded stone tools and invented pottery. In some areas, agriculture and animal husbandry have emerged, leading a settled clan commune life. This period is the Neolithic Age.

At the same time as Yangshao culture in the middle reaches of the Yellow River, Yantai entered the period of Beiqiu culture in the Neolithic Age from 7000 to 4500 years ago. On the coastline of Yantai, there are still many "North Hill" sites piled up by seafood and shellfish left by ancestors. During the period of Beiqiu culture, people have lived a relatively stable life, and the houses are distributed reasonably, generally in the shape of semi-caves with rounded corners and squares. Beizhuang Site on Long Island, known as "East Banpo", marks the peak of Neolithic culture in Yantai. At this time, people began to understand beauty, and a large number of early artistic creations appeared in life, especially the simple and simple painted pottery art, which reflected people's pursuit of a better life.

About 4500-4000 years ago, it was the Longshan culture period at the end of Neolithic Age. Longshan culture refers to a cultural relic in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River in China in the late Neolithic period, belonging to bronze culture. Longshan culture was first discovered in Longshan Town, Licheng County, Jinan City, Shandong Province (now Zhangqiu District, Jinan City) and got its name. After radiocarbon dating and correction, the age is from 2500 BC to 2000 BC (4000 years ago). Distributed in Henan, Shandong, Shanxi, Shaanxi and other provinces in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River. Longshan culture period is equivalent to before Xia Dynasty or slightly staggered from early summer. Longshan culture originated from Dawenkou culture and is an ancient civilization created for Han ancestors. Archaeologists named these cultural remains with black pottery as the main feature "Longshan Culture".

During the Longshan culture period, dry farming represented by millet was dominant, but the appearance of rice changed the agricultural structure, and the cultivation of various food crops promoted the rapid development of agriculture. Yantai has become one of the important ways for rice farming to spread in China. This is also the peak period of pottery making. Generally, pottery is made by using more advanced fast wheel making method, with more regular shape and uniform wall thickness. Among them, thin-walled black pottery as thin as eggshell, black and bright is called eggshell pottery, and its appearance has pushed the pottery-making technology to the peak. In addition, the etiquette system permeates all aspects of social life, and sacrificial and martyrdom activities generally appear. Most of the ritual vessels used come from daily necessities, warm and smooth jade and exquisite black pottery.

During the Han Dynasty, art flourished. Many artistic treasures such as bronzes, pottery, lacquerware, jade and pottery with the characteristics of the times appeared in Yantai, all of which showed people's life scenes and colorful artistic feelings at that time.

Yan Zhenqing Pei Jun's poems and stone carvings in Tang Dynasty have strong visual impact. From the aspects of brushwork, strength and momentum, they all have obvious characteristics of Yan Shu, and the brushwork is strong, smooth and full. "General Pei" is General Pei Min who is good at sword dancing. Literati scholars called Li Bai's poems, Zhang Xu's cursive script and Pei Min's sword dance "three unique skills", while the world called them "great swordsmen". Yan intends to express the rhythm of martial arts in calligraphy, sometimes agitated and sometimes static, and combine calligraphy with the rhythm of martial arts. In short, this is a masterpiece of calligraphy with flying personality, majestic rhythm and simplicity. As Amin Wang Shizhen commented, "The book is upright and Gu Zhuo, but its brushwork is vigorous and free, and its strength is endless."

Yantai, with its early cultural development and unique natural conditions, has been a natural harbor since ancient times. As the hub of China's north-south maritime traffic and the maritime gateway to Beijing and Tianjin, Yantai became the commercial center of China's northern coast in the late Qing Dynasty. After the Second Opium War, Yantai was forced to open a port, becoming one of the earliest ports in northern China and the earliest trading port in Shandong Province. In the collision and intersection of Chinese and western civilizations, Yantai began a difficult modernization process, and its city appearance, economic structure, culture, education and lifestyle took on a new look, forming a unique modern wave city. After the opening of ports and trade, Yantai society was rapidly semi-colonized, which opened the prelude to the struggle of Yantai people against foreign aggression and feudal rule. From the Xinduo Revolution to the Communist Party of China (CPC)'s early activities, to War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and then to the War of Liberation, Yantai people always stood at the forefront of the revolution, for China.

The beacon tower, built in Ming Hongwu in 3 1 (1398), is located at the top of the mountain, hence the names Yantai Mountain and Yantai City. Yantai Mountain is a landmark attraction in Yantai. 186 1 year, Yantai became the first trading port in Shandong, and 16 countries successively set up consuls or acting consuls in Yantai. Britain, the United States, Germany, France and other six countries have built more than 30 European-style modern buildings such as consulates, villas and official residences on Yantai Mountain. Yantai Mountain is a combination of eastern and western cultures, surrounded by the sea on three sides, with beautiful environment and charming scenery. It covers an area of 45 hectares, with vast sea areas, beautiful scenery, lush vegetation, clear seawater and strange reefs.
