How does Buddhism view life?
When it comes to Buddhism, there is usually a saying: "Buddhism is boundless." This sentence is not to say that the Buddha has any magic power, but it is as ever-changing and unpredictable as magic. However, it is said that the truth of Buddhism is vast, and even if we do our best all our lives, it is difficult to get to the bottom. So, of course, so many dharmas can't be finished in an hour or two. So today I just want to put forward a few points from the relationship between Buddhism and life to learn with you. Buddhism is the teaching method of Sakyamuni Buddha; Most of you know the life history of Sakyamuni Buddha. I don't think it's necessary to say more. Sakyamuni Buddha was born, and his teaching methods are closely related to our lives. Buddhism clarifies the truth of the life universe. After Sakyamuni himself realized the truth of the life universe, he gave lectures everywhere in order to let people in the world who had not yet realized it. Many teaching methods mentioned by the Buddha at that time were later compiled by disciples into the Three Zangs and Twelve Classics. Of course, in so many religious classics, there are many explanations, four of which are extremely important. Both Hinayana Buddhism spread in the south and Mahayana Buddhism spread in the north are considered to be the most fundamental. So, what are these four basic and important truths? That is: first, impermanence-everything in the world is always changing, changing, and everything is constantly evolving. Because of its impermanence, life is born and died; The world is successful, alive, bad and empty. However, the average person's heart is thick and he is unaware of this sudden change! China has a saying: "The sea changes into a mulberry field, and the mulberry field changes into the sea", which means that things are impermanent. In the minds of ordinary people, there is always a wrong belief that the world is eternal. Therefore, greed is insatiable, and everything must be yours. Therefore, entrepreneurship is very confused, life and death rotate, and it is impossible to get rid of it. Therefore, Buddhism reveals impermanence in order to break the delusion of life. People who study Buddhism, if they understand this impermanence, can realize that everything in life, like clouds in the air, bubbles on the water, empty flowers in the mirror and bright moon in the water, is illusory and unreal! The Diamond Sutra says: "Everything is dharma, like a dream, like dew, like electricity, so look at it this way." Second, pain-psychologically, we have the pain of greed, anger, delusion and trouble; Physically, we suffer from old age, illness and death one after another; At home, we have worries about food, clothing, housing and transportation. In society, we have disputes between right and wrong and suffer from hatred; In addition, we still have pain that we can't ask for; The outside world is suffering from storms, floods, military disasters and plagues; Life is really much worse! Resentment always controls us and threatens us; Bitterness follows us closely, binds us, makes us unable to move and get rid of it, and life has been struggling for a living. I usually don't like to say bitterness, because when I say bitterness, not only my brow will wrinkle, but my heart seems to be bitter. However, the real world is really bitter, and I can't help but talk about it. The purpose of learning Buddhism is to be happy without suffering, so it is necessary to be a prophet. Only by knowing suffering can we make up our minds, practice Buddhism and pursue happiness, so knowing suffering is the door to enlightenment. Three, empty-what is empty? Empty is the origin. Everything in the world is born by coincidence. Cause is the main condition for the birth of things, and life is the auxiliary condition for the birth of things; Cause and effect make do, things exist; Cause is discrete, things are easy to destroy and empty. Therefore, Buddhism says that emptiness is the source of emptiness, not emptiness. To be clear, everything is born of karma. Without karma, there is no fixed self, no self, so it is empty. Our human body consists of four parts: earth, water, fire and wind. The four discrete, the body can not exist, this is emptiness. In fact, these four discrete empty, or in a simple sense; On a deeper level, our four bodies were empty when they existed before the present; There is no need to wait for the four discrete moments to be empty, because the four are empty when they are around. Many people who don't understand Buddhism often misunderstand the meaning of "nothing". For example, people who believe in Buddhism argue with those who don't believe in Buddhism, and those who don't believe in Buddhism will confidently say, "All of you who study Buddhism and worship Buddhism are empty. What are you arguing with us? " In fact, the four universes are empty, not specifically those who study or worship Buddha. Anyone who has a body, whether worshipping Buddha or not, is empty. Therefore, whether to worship Buddha or not, if everyone has a correct understanding of these four empty spaces, many unnecessary disputes in society can be greatly reduced. Fourth, what am I without me? The Chinese word "I" has a hand on the left and Agger on the right. Ge is an arms race, representing weapons, and the guy with weapons in his hand is murderous. He knew at a glance that it was not an easy thing to mess with. Therefore, a person who values me deeply is not welcome anywhere. I am not a good thing; But most people think that everyone has a me. If you ask him, "You have a me, where am I?" He must be patting his chest, or pointing to his nose and saying, "This is not me. What is it?" In fact, our bodies are four fake combinations, and there is no me at all! Ordinary people generally think that life is me According to the analysis of Buddhism, our life is composed of five aggregates. What are the five aggregates? Color, acceptance, thinking, behavior, knowledge; Color is a substance, and receiving, thinking, acting and knowing are four spirits; Among the four connotations of spirit, knowledge is the main body of spirit, while receiving, thinking and doing are the subsidiary of spirit. Our life body composed of these five elements is just a false combination of karma. It has no self, so it can't live forever, so it is called "no self". Although Buddhism has profound philosophy, it is not a religion that only talks about theory and pays special attention to implementation; Is to apply the theory we have learned to our daily life; The true practice of Buddhism is the combination of theory and practice, and the words and deeds are consistent. Mr. Su Dongpo, a great writer in the Song Dynasty in China, was a Buddhist who understood Buddhism. He and Jackson Fo Yin are good friends. One day, Su Dongpo went to visit Zen master Fo Yin, and it happened that Zen master Fo Yin was giving a lecture, and the whole lecture hall was packed. At this time, Zen master Fo Yin said to him in Zen myths: "There is no room for a college student here!" Su Dongpo is a person who studied Buddhism and participated in Zen for many years. After listening to this sentence, he also answered him in Zen language: "Why don't you borrow the four masters of Zen Master for the time being?" Zen master Fo Yin is a well-educated monk. At the moment, he smiled and said to Su Dongpo, "The old monk has a question for the university student. If you can answer, I will give you my seat. " If you can't answer, please leave the jade belt here, yongzhen mountain gate? "Su Dongpo listened to very proud. He thought he was proficient in Buddhism, and he was sure to get it this time. He said, "All right! All right! Please ask questions! Zen master Fo Yin asked: "The four universes are empty, and the five aggregates have no self." . What is the bachelor's seat? "So, Su Dongpo, a talented and well-informed college student, was surprised! So he untied a jade belt that the emperor gave him as a souvenir. This matter has been handed down to this day and has become a story of the ages. Although there are many Buddhist principles, the four principles mentioned above, namely impermanence, bitterness, emptiness and selflessness, are the most fundamental essence. Next, I want to talk about the meaning of life. There are four different interpretations of life: one, life, two, life, three, survival and four, life and death. The first three are continuous, because life is the continuation of life. To extend the life of life, we must have a proper life, because with a proper life, human life can survive; Therefore, life, life and existence seem to be a trinity, and life is the sum of life, life and existence. What is worth talking about here is the life problem of life. When talking about life, the ancients in China often quoted the word "food color". When people talk about life nowadays, they only say "basic necessities of life". No matter what the ancients said about "food color" or what the present people said about "food and clothing" or "food", we should embrace two kinds, namely, material food and spiritual food. Material food is diet, which can nourish life, prolong life and make life survive; Spiritual food is cultural food, which can enhance knowledge, make life on the right track, lead a meaningful life and sublimate life happiness. Most people only pay attention to the former and material life, but ignore the spiritual life of the latter. Therefore, the life addicted to narcotic substances is empty after all! From the perspective of Buddhism, in addition to living a meaningful life, we should also pay attention to life and death; Only in this way can survival be valuable and life have a home. Life and death are important things. In Hokkekyo, Buddha Sakyamuni said: "Buddha is a great event and appears in the world. "The great karma here refers to life and death. This shows the importance of life and death! Buddha is an enlightened person. With the observation of Buddha's eyes, our life is confused by ignorance and troubles, and we are confused to achieve something. The six great divisions in the wheel of karma, born and sick, born and sick, born and sick, really pitiful! Therefore, he is merciful and eager to talk about life, with the purpose of awakening all beings who are addicted to the dream of life and death. Therefore, liberation from life and death is the consistent requirement of Buddhist learners. Why are we reincarnated? Who is starting a business? Who is in the cycle of life and death? These are all hearts, so Buddhism teaches us to cultivate our hearts. However, when it comes to abstinence, some people think it's asking for trouble. They said, "How stupid it is not to look at beautiful things, listen to beautiful things, smell fragrant things and eat delicious things! "But he doesn't know that our hearts are like a wild horse. How dangerous it would be if nobody rode it and left it alone! Therefore, ordinary people don't cultivate their minds, just enjoy themselves, and they will be anxious when the time comes. Once upon a time, there was a rich man who married four wives in a row. The first wife is very considerate of her husband, always following the rich, obedient and meticulous in taking care of the rich; But rich people think she is not beautiful enough, so don't pay attention to her. Marrying a second wife, although beautiful, is not attractive enough. At first, the rich man loved her a little, but later, he gradually alienated her. Marrying a third wife is not only beautiful, but also capable, which makes the rich reluctant to go. However, human nature, a long career, a change of heart. Since the rich man married his beautiful fourth wife, he has forgotten his first, second and third wives. He bought a lot of cosmetics for his fourth wife, bathed her with the most fragrant soap, and stayed with her all day. He was kind and caring and fell in love with her. He is so generous that he wants to be a wing bird in heaven and grow up together on the earth, two branches of a tree ... However, youth is fleeting and the good times are not long. The rich man and his fourth wife live a sweet life, and he is old. " The sunset is infinitely beautiful and buried by the coming night "is beyond lamentation! One day, the rich man was terminally ill and his medicine failed. Before he died, the rich man called his fourth wife to the bed and discussed with her: "My dear fourth wife! Although I have four wives, you are the only one I love most, so I am the best for you and I can't live without you for a moment. Now, the doctor says I won't live long. I think how lonely I am when I die alone. Will you die with me? " The fourth wife turned pale and said, "What makes you think so? You are old and should die. I am still young. How can I go with you? " I stopped looking at the rich man and ran away. The rich man sighed, and there was nothing he could do. He called out his third wife and told her to die with him. Trembling all over, she quickly replied, "How can this be done? I am so young that I can marry someone else after you die. How can I go with you? "Run away. The rich man sighed again and called out his second wife to discuss what he had just said. The second wife quickly waved her hand and said, "No! Can't! I have to take care of everything at home. How can I go with you without family matters? For the sake of marital relationship, if you die, I will send you to the tomb in the suburbs! The rich man was disappointed again. At this time, he thought of Mrs. Tai, who was usually ignored, and had to ask her to go to bed. This time, the rich man almost burst into tears and said to her apologetically and imploringly, "Madam! I'm sorry that I used to be cold to you. I'm dying now. I am lonely alone. The fourth, third and second wives don't want to go with me. Will you die with me? The first wife agreed at once: "A married man should follow his husband. The husband is dead. How can a wife live alone? I decided to die with you! " Although the rich man heard this unexpected statement clearly, he didn't seem to believe his ears. He asked the first wife again, "You! You! Would you like to die with me? The first wife nodded; At this time, the rich man woke up from his dream and said to his first wife regretfully, "Alas!" I didn't know you were so loyal to me before, and I never forgot you; I love my fourth wife, my third wife and my second wife, but they are ungrateful and have left me now, refusing to accompany me to death. I can't believe that I don't value you, but you are willing to stay with me forever. Alas! I let you down. Why didn't I be nice to you earlier? "The rich man said, holding the first wife died. This wonderful story was told to his disciples by Sakyamuni Buddha before. The beautiful fourth wife in the story refers to our bodies. Everyone dresses beautifully and young for their figure, but being beautiful and young will not help our future. The third wife who wants to remarry refers to the money that everyone loves. When people die, no matter how much money they have, they have to give it to others. Taking care of the family's mistresses refers to those relatives and friends who miss them only when they are in trouble. There are still many unfinished things in the world. When a person dies, he can take a ride in the funeral procession at most. The first lady who has never been ignored is our heart, which often follows us and serves us, but we ignore it. This story is not only wonderful, but also meaningful. It warns us to protect and cultivate our hearts at all times. In addition to solving life problems, we should also pay attention to life and death. Buddhism says that everything in the world is changeable, so it is possible to relieve pain. If you refuse to work hard, good happiness may become bad and bitter because of impermanence; If you are willing to work hard, the bad and bitter may become good and happy because of impermanence. Buddhism says that life is painful and flawed, so don't be complacent about reality, especially don't shrink back from pain, but try to improve and get rid of it. Buddhism says that everything in the world is empty, so benefiting others is self-interest, and harming others is harming yourself. Self-interest needs to be sought after by others in order to get real benefits. Buddhists say that life is a five-element life without me, so we should give our opinions, break ourselves and actively seek happiness for the people, society, country and the world. Buddhism guides, improves and purifies life. Therefore, although life is full of hardships, we can follow the guidance of Buddhism to practice, we can achieve perfection from our defects, realize the Tao from our dreams, and get rid of life and death. Therefore, Buddhism and life are closely related. We should practice Buddhism and move towards the goal of truth, goodness and beauty in life.
