The public statement of Zhezong's illness is: "So, since the winter, I have suffered from a bad cold, immersed in the disease, and the medicine stone is effective, so I am dying." (Volume 7 "Fu Yuan Legacy System") Fortunately, Ceng Bu's diary "Zeng Gong Legacy Record" of the Privy Council has been preserved to this day. It can be seen that Zhezong died not of a cold, but of a sexual physiological disease.
The emperors of the Song Dynasty all suffered from sexual physiological and psychological diseases, except for Zhezong and at least Gaozong. In the third year of Jian Yan (A.D. 1 129), in February, Jin Jun attacked Yangzhou, and Gaozong fled across the river in the middle of the night, "suddenly on guard, and then became ill", and from then on he became impotent. The consequence is the loss of fertility, "harem infertility."
The illness and consequences of Zhezong are much more serious than those of Gaozong. Its symptom is "excessive exudation of semen (green dam)" (Volume 9), which is fatal. The cause is extreme sexual indulgence. The beauty in Zhezong Palace is like a cloud, and the wife of Prime Minister Lu Dafang saw it with her own eyes: there are countless ladies in the former harem of Zhezong, all of which are wonderful flowers on earth. Only four people have the same makeup comb, clothes and the like. ""The splendor of its costumes is believed to be unprecedented in the world. "
Zhezong became emperor at the age of 9. His disciples included his grandmother, Empress Gao, his first mother, Empress Xiang, and his biological mother, Emperor Zhu Defai. Among them, the high queen mother who listened to politics was a strong woman and was quite strict with Zhezong. Zhezong is old, but he still can't help himself.
Song Zhezong respects his grandmother very much (Volume 127 "Zhe Zong Chao"), but he dare not do whatever he wants in action. At that time, people said: Zhezong was "born with grace, revered the Second Palace, and had profound meaning", which was generally the case. In September of the eighth year of the Northern Song Dynasty (A.D. 1093), the Empress Dowager Gao died, and Zhezong ascended the throne, no longer out of control. He immediately rebounded, not only rebelling against the actions of the Empress Dowager Gao politically, but also rejecting the old party, abolishing the law, using the new party and promoting the new law. Moreover, he is reckless and indulgent in life.
Fan Bailu, assistant minister of Chinese books, used to be an assistant reader. He knows Zhezong very well and is very concerned about his health. When he became a monk (now Zhou Pu Town, Yongji County, Shanxi Province), he devoted himself to dredging philosophers. He quoted Confucius as saying: "When you are young, your blood gas is uncertain, so be careful." He warned Zhezong to pay attention to "the way of keeping in good health" and "the art of keeping in good health". (Volume 5) For this kind of advice, Zhezong turned a deaf ear. In addition, eunuchs "played the extravagant heart of philosophers" (volume 63), so philosophers became more and more fierce.
Liu was an imperial envoy of Guanhou (Lvba) court and received "preferential treatment" (Zhe Zhuan, Volume 243), competing with the Meng Empress established by the Empress Dowager. In spite of the minister's opposition, Zhezong flatly deposed Queen Meng. Instead, Liu was in the palace. Zhezong and Liu were inseparable, so they got a sexual physiological disease. Doctors Qin□ and Geng Yu were helpless and "deeply worried". (Volume 9) Zhezong was seriously ill and died late at night on the 12th day of the first month of the third year of Fu Yuan (AD 1 100).
