The lowest elevation at the foot of Jiuhuang Mountain is 620 meters, and the highest elevation at the top is 2840 meters.

Xiqiang Jiuhuangshan Scenic Area, located at the edge of Sichuan Basin, is a typical karst landform. The terrain changes greatly, with the maximum slope of 18-25 and the maximum slope exceeding 80. Guixi River Canyon, the valley where Pingtong River passes, constitutes the main topographic space in this area. The terrain is changeable, with multi-level slopes on the west side of the valley and steep cliffs on the east side.

Jiuhuangshan Mountain is 68km from Mianyang, 0/70km from Chengdu/KLOC and 230km from Jiuzhaigou. The east line of the Ninth Ring Road passes through the gate of the scenic spot, with convenient transportation. The scenic spot has natural wonders such as mountain caves, cliff scenery, virgin forests and rich ecological resources, and has been rated as a national AAAA-level tourist scenic spot.

Xiqiang Jiuhuangshan Scenic Area is divided into two parts: Qianshan and Houshan. The front mountain mainly includes the Ape King Cave and Lover Bridge, while the back mountain mainly includes Ermayina Ancient Road, Tiantan Temple, the first bunker of Xiqiang, Qiang people's garden, unarmed hunting ground, vegetable base, Yunbaoding grass skiing (snow) field, Eagle Mouth Rock and Arrow Bamboo Sea.

The scenic spot is a combination of humanity and nature, with the simple Xiqiang culture as the main line, which completely preserves and truly reproduces the ancient Xiqiang cultural relics and life customs called Nanman, Beidi, Dongyi and Xiqiang in history, and is also the only one left today.
