History of Xichang, Sichuan
Xichang is the capital of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture.

Xichang has a long history. Since ancient times, it has been an important economic, political, military and cultural center in southwest China, and it is also a pearl on the Southern Silk Road. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the Qiang people established their own "Qiong people" tribe here. Since the Qin and Han dynasties, the central dynasty has set up counties here and appointed officials to manage them.

After liberation, it was the seat of the Xichang special agency. 1978, Xichang area was revoked with the approval of the State Council, and merged into Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, becoming Xichang City, the seat of the state capital.

Xichang belongs to the tropical plateau monsoon climate zone, known as the small "spring city", which is warm in winter and cool in summer, with four seasons like spring.
