When she was 9 years old, she overheard her neighbor playing the cucurbit silk, which was very nice, so she asked her parents to buy cucurbit silk for self-study. Soon, her parents found that she was very talented and began to study in the class. In 2005, Hubei Disabled People's Art Show was held in Jingmen, and Zhang Qihui won the third prize in this show. Her passion and agility in playing cucurbit flute attracted the attention of Zhang Hongyang, vice president of Hubei Song and Dance Theatre and a famous flute player.

With the support of Hubei Disabled Persons' Federation, Zhang Qihui began to learn flute from Zhang Hongyang. In order to facilitate his study, Zhang Qihui moved his family from Jingmen to Wuhan, and his parents accompanied him to Zhang Hongyang's home for class after school. At that time, Zhang Hongyang lived on the second floor. When Zhang Qihui first started studying, his father carried him upstairs. However, Mr Zhang asked Zhang Qihui to support himself with a bench on the second floor.

Learning flute is hard, and it is hard for most people to stick to it, not to mention being disabled? To make up for her physical deficiency, she can only suffer more than the average person. This is an exercise of her will. " Zhang Hongyang said, in fact, every time he heard the sound of the bench in the corridor, he would feel bad for the little girl, but he still had to close his heart and wait for her to "walk" to the door.

Holding a small square stool in one hand, slowly but firmly "walk" forward; When going upstairs, first put down the small square stool on the next step, lift the whole body with both hands, and then put another small square stool on a higher step ... In this way, Zhang Qihui learned to walk by himself on the bench.

From the earliest plastic benches to the present wooden benches, Zhang Qihui himself can't tell how many benches have been worn. However, as she grew older, she became more and more proficient in "walking".

Besides, in order to learn flute well, Zhang Qihui suffered numerous hardships. Fingering, breath, flute posture, repeated training, playing etudes over and over again, her fingers and tongue were numb, but she persisted. After three months, Zhang Qihui has reached the requirements of Zhang Hongyang in terms of both the stability of pronunciation and the sensitivity of listening, and it takes ordinary students half a year to complete these three-month courses.

With tenacious perseverance, Hui became a proud pupil and was hired as an instrumental actor by Hubei Disabled People's Art Troupe.

After hard practice, Zhang Qihui's grades improved rapidly. At the same time, in the years of study, I have continuously broadened my playing field, and I am proficient in bone flute, cave flute and flute. Because of Zhang Qihui's high understanding, Zhang Hongyang also took out a 3.6-meter-long dragon flute and taught her to play the unique skill of "the best bass flute in the world".

According to the reporter, the dragon flute is a traditional Chinese musical instrument, which has been circulated since the Spring and Autumn Period and is very difficult to play. The dragon flute of Zhang Hongyang Zhang Qihui is 3.6 meters long and is called "the longest dragon flute in Asia".

In 2007, at the Eighth Art Festival in China, Zhang Qihui played the Bamboo Song specially adapted by his teacher. Finally, with the efforts of Hubei Disabled Persons' Federation, Zhang Qihui was admitted to Hubei Second Normal University as an instrumental major. From the day the school newspaper arrives, teachers and students of Hubei Second Division will see a girl riding a red electric car for the disabled, walking through the campus. Fortunately, during the holiday, she met a teacher of Minzu University of China at the famous bamboo flute concert in Jingzhou, and encouraged Zhang Qihui to apply for the Music School of Minzu University of China. During the preparation for postgraduate entrance examination, Zhang Qihui's culture class was purely self-taught, taking into account flute practice and work, and the hardships were very understandable.

Many things happen. Zhang Qihui became a student of Grade 20 17 in the Conservatory of Music of Minzu University of China, with the first grade in the initial test and the first grade in the total score. At the same time, he is also the first full-time disabled art graduate student in Hubei Province. When she was a graduate student, her parents stopped accompanying Zhang Qihui, and Zhang Qihui began to live independently. Fortunately, she met friendly roommates, classmates and teachers, and the school specially designed barrier-free access to take care of her.

At the same time, Zhang Qihui knows that his actions are not as convenient as normal people, and he always prepares for class in advance. Whether in class or performing, Zhang Qihui always arrives early and never late. With perseverance, Zhang Qihui also learned to swim, got a driver's license for the disabled, drove back and forth between home and school alone, and occasionally traveled to some places of interest.

In 2020, Zhang Qihui got his degree certificate, graduation certificate and the title of "excellent graduate". After graduation, Zhang Qihui found a job teaching bamboo flute in Wuhan School for the Blind, and decided to use what he had learned to train disabled students like him.
