Selected readings of legends of Tang poetry: Li Shangyin's The Night Banquet in Tang Palace
I have heard a philosophical saying: some people use childhood to cure their whole lives, while others use their whole lives to cure their childhood. The former can take Li Bai as an example. His mother gave birth to Li Bai because of "white Venus in the night dream". Although he has experienced many ups and downs since then, he has always been reckless and bent on his own way. Li Shangyin, one of "Little Du Li", belongs to the latter.

He left his hometown at the age of 3 and lost his father's love at the age of 9. Mother propped up the burden of the family and had no time to give him intimate care; As the eldest son, he has never been taken care of by his brother. In his heart, he left a faint lack of love.

Therefore, he wants to spend his whole life looking for traces of love.

After entering the official career, he witnessed the ugliness of officialdom. So he decided to spend his whole life looking for traces of beauty.

However, where is love? Where is the beauty?

Li Shangyin had such an unforgettable night when he was a secretary. After many days, in his memory, this night is still like last night. He clearly remembers the stars last night and the wind last night. ...

That night, the stars were shining and the breeze was blowing gently. He attended a grand banquet in front of the first batch of lanterns. The banquet is located in the west of the pavilion with carved beams and painted buildings and in the east of Lan Guixiang Hall. Suddenly, he stopped and saw a group of beautiful women coming not far ahead. Presumably, they are going to the party, too. The night wind blows their clothes, fluttering like a fairy; Their hair is rolled up high, and gold and silver ornaments shine under the starlight; The finely carved jade pendant worn on the waist makes a pleasant sound when walking leisurely.

The beauty of these women can't touch the heartstrings of Li Shangyin. He just wondered whether the "she" he missed so much was among these beautiful women.

He hasn't seen her and doesn't know what she looks like. He expects her to melt the ice in her heart like a warm wind; She is like a ray of bright sunshine, driving away the darkness of life. He is infatuated, but he doesn't even know if she is real or just an illusion.

However, he still yearns for, yearns for and fantasizes that she is in front of this group of beautiful women!

Yes, she may be not far ahead, but he can't get close to her. Even if we could get close to her, we wouldn't recognize each other. At this moment, he wants to become a colorful phoenix, let the power of the gods help him and fly to her side. Helpless, he has no wings to fly. ...

Fortunately, as a poet, he is inspired by poetry and has a heart! With the help of the artistic conception of poetry, he and her mind are instantly connected!

After the banquet, Li Shangyin returned to the secretary province, and wrote a poem titled Untitled the next day, in which he wrote:

The stars were bright last night, but there was a cool breeze at midnight. Our banquet is on the side of Hualou Temple and the east of the county. Without Cai Feng's wings, it is impossible to be Qi Fei in fly with me; The heart is like a soul, and the feelings are the same.

Before the banquet, he experienced "but I felt the harmonious heartbeat of the sacred unicorn", which made him overjoyed. Next, he guessed and played at the night banquet, drinking and drinking. He felt that the wine warmed his heart, and the lights and candles were red and bright. It was not until the drums sounded and the banquet was over that he returned to the secretary province where he worked. His heart was still beating fast, and he wrote:

Guessing and intrigue, wine warms the heart; This group of people came to the bet of drinking friends, and a win-lose red in candlelight. Alas, it's time to call the roll in the morning when you hear the drums of the fifth watch; Riding to Lantai is like the wind in the wind.

This poem "Untitled", like a bright ray of light, shone into his mediocre and gloomy life, showing him a little hope, though weak, but fascinating.

Since then, he has written many Untitled books.

After writing one untitled film after another, Li Shangyin faced an unavoidable problem: how to face his wife directly.

His wife Wang is gentle, virtuous and sensible. When her father, Wang Maoyuan, wanted to betrothed her to Li Shangyin, a poor family and humble official position, she agreed without hesitation. After marriage, Li Shangyin has been earning a meager income in front of insignificant officials. Wang is thrifty and thrifty, managing the house and housework. Husband and wife treat each other like guests, quoting Qi Mei.

But Li Shangyin wrote one book after another untitled! How does he communicate this with his wife?

That night, the husband and wife sat opposite each other under the flickering lights and candles. Mrs. Wang cut off the snuff with her dexterous hand, and the candlelight lit up at once.

Li Shangyin sighed softly, awkward.

Mrs. Wang spoke first: "Husband, are you sighing for the hopeless career?" You won't blame your father for not contributing to your career when he was alive, will you? "

"Of course not. My father-in-law didn't use his power to promote me, which shows that he is honest and doesn't abuse power for personal gain. Besides, is it a good thing to have one less official and one more poet in this world? "

"Oh, there is also a person who writes love poems!" Mrs. Wang laughed with snow.

Li Shangyin got up the courage: "You don't mind those untitled books I wrote, do you?"

Mrs. Wang did not answer directly, but asked, "Husband, why do you write love poems?" Wang Wei and Meng Haoran wrote pastoral poems, Li Bai wrote Wine Come and Lushan Ballad, Du Fu wrote Three Officials and Three Farewells, and Bai Juyi wrote Song of Eternal Sorrow and Pipa Trip. Why do you think of writing love poems? "
