Does the stepson have the obligation to support?
Legal analysis: The legal provisions on the rights and obligations between parents and children born in wedlock shall apply to the rights and obligations between stepparents and children who form a de facto relationship. Therefore, stepchildren raised by stepparents have the obligation to support their stepparents. The relationship of rights and obligations between them is based on the foster relationship formed by both parties on the principle of voluntariness, and does not affect the relationship of rights and obligations between stepchildren and their biological parents. Stepchildren and their biological parents have rights and obligations at the same time. In other words, if the stepparents take care of, support and educate their stepchildren, the stepchildren should support their stepparents. If they fail to fulfill this obligation, they can't support them.

Legal basis: Article 1074 of the Civil Code of People's Republic of China (PRC) stipulates that grandparents who have financial means have the obligation to support their minor grandchildren whose parents are dead or whose parents are unable to support them. Grandchildren and grandchildren with financial means have the obligation to support grandparents whose children are dead or unable to support them.

Article 23 of the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of the Rights and Interests of the Elderly stipulates that the elderly and their spouses have the obligation to support each other. When a sibling who is supported by a sibling becomes an adult, if she has the financial ability, she has the obligation to support an elderly sibling who has no supporter.
