Xiaoji will sample petroleum products on the market and find a small amount of carcinogen "benzene", but the Food and Drug Administration found that the benzene content is lower than the standard of 5ppb for drinking water, and appealed to the public not to panic. (Photo courtesy/foundation elimination meeting) Sampling of "benzene" content in blended oil! The results of the Foundation and the Food and Drug Administration are different.
Since 102 Datong black-hearted oil incident and 103 Ding Xin boiling water oil incident broke out, the domestic edible oil safety faced a crisis of confidence and went bankrupt. At that time, all walks of life promoted the revision of the Food Hygiene Management Law and added the concept of "safety". However, after two years, the Consumer Foundation announced six kinds of blended oil products on 30th this year.
However, the Food and Drug Administration also conducted a sampling survey on the same blended oil product sold in the market, and the benzene detection results were 3.8 ppb, 4.0 ppb and "not detected" respectively. Compared with the international standard that the benzene content in plant edible oil is lower than 1.50 ppb, the benzene content in the three oils of "Happy Day" is within the natural background value range and also lower than the upper limit of 5ppb for drinking water, so people need not panic.
Control standard of benzene content in drinking water: 5ppb.
Benzene is a widely used chemical substance. If it is ingested through drinking water or food, it will cause vomiting, stomach upset, dizziness, drowsiness, spasm and rapid heartbeat. Long-term exposure will affect bone marrow and cause anemia and leukemia. In addition, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) under the World Health Organization and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have also determined that benzene is a carcinogen to human beings.
According to the Food and Drug Administration, because benzene is highly volatile, the main exposure route of human body is inhalation, not food, so there is no international standard for benzene in edible oils and fats. However, because benzene may be deposited in water and soil from the air, international standards are only formulated for drinking water. At present, the World Health Organization stipulates that the benzene content in drinking water is below 10ppb, while China, like the United States, stipulates that it is 5ppb.
Practitioner: You don't have to hear chemical terms to be afraid!
The producer of "A Proud Day" issued a statement, stressing that the international community, including the European Union, has not set standards for the benzene content in edible oil at present, which shows that a small amount of benzene in edible oil is harmless to health. Moreover, the living environment already contains trace amounts of benzene, and there is no way to be zero. It is mentioned that "everyone is afraid of not hearing chemical terms." We will not stop breathing because of benzene in the air, nor will we stop drinking water because of benzene in the water, nor will we encourage mothers to breastfeed because of benzene in breast milk. Oil contains very little benzene and will not pose a threat to health.
