The Significance of Tai Ji Chuan to Contemporary Humanity

Editor's Note: Qiu Pixiang, the author of this article, is a professor of Wushu Department of Shanghai Institute of Physical Education, a doctoral tutor, China Jiu Duan, one of the top ten professors of Wushu in China, a member of Shanghai CPPCC, an international Wushu referee and a famous contemporary Wushu expert in China. His works are close to reality, life and the masses, which is very inspiring to practitioners. The following is the following.

The development of science and technology and the prosperity of business in today's world have brought a lot of convenience to mankind, but they have also brought a lot of troubles. Environmental pollution, war disputes and energy crisis threaten mankind. Even in a peaceful environment, there are still many survival problems, such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases known as the number one killer, depression as the number two killer, and the quality of life in an aging society.

Although China's Tai Ji Chuan Movement is not a "prescription" to get rid of diseases, if you persist in it, it is a "magic prescription" to effectively solve or alleviate the above three social symptoms, which is of positive significance to human survival and life.

Since 1950s, many tests have been done on the research of Tai Ji Chuan's influence on human health, involving the research and analysis of skeletal system, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, endocrine system, nervous system, immune function, senile weakness and so on. Especially, Wushu Association of China Academy of Sciences has studied and compared Tai Ji Chuan's exercise effect in EEG, ECG, blood lipid and microcirculation for many years, and made outstanding contributions. Recently, one of my doctoral students, sports medicine experts and * * * explored the endocrine regulation function of "insulin growth factor -L" together, and demonstrated that Tai Ji Chuan exercise is beneficial to the operation of endocrine and immune system, which aroused great concern in sports medicine.

I don't want to repeat all these research results here. I want to discuss Taiji Chuan's mind from the perspectives of anthropology, biology and sociology. Cerebrovascular diseases, talk about mental and psychological diseases and the life health of the elderly.

There is an article saying that human beings have achieved this qualitative leap by standing and walking on two feet. Although it has created a splendid history of civilization, it is not conducive to the exercise of whole body blood vessels, so that cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases with high ischemia and hypoxia have become the enemy that threatens human life.

Every year,160,000 people worldwide die of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, accounting for more than 50% of the total mortality. About/kloc-0.0 billion people in China suffer from hypertension, with an increase of more than/kloc-0.0 million people every year. There are more than 5 million patients with encephalopathy, with 6.5438+0.5 million new cases and 6.5438+0.5 million patients with coronary heart disease every year. The death toll of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in China is 2.6 million, with an average of 5 deaths per minute!

Tai Ji Chuan's emphasis on relaxing muscles, "moving without moving", "moving with the heart", "moving with the body" and "reaching the four ends with the qi" are all beneficial to enhancing the elasticity of blood vessel wall and blood circulation, as well as exercising microvessels and promoting microcirculation. An old professor of Shanghai Institute of Physical Education led his graduate students to explore human microcirculation. The research shows that the abnormal rate of catheter detachment and the excessive rate of blood stasis in Tai Ji Chuan practitioners are obviously lower than those in the control group, which plays a role in regulating blood supply. Some people call it "the second heart". In addition, many studies show that practicing Tai Ji Chuan has a good effect on reducing blood lipid, increasing vital capacity, enhancing myocardial nutrition, and preventing and delaying cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

I won't list the relevant experimental reports one by one here. I sincerely hope that medical workers and martial arts workers will further strengthen cooperation, face the number one killer of mankind and make new contributions to human health.

Experiments show that people's mental health has a great relationship with their physical health and quality of life. People's mental state, mood, personality, psychological ability to deal with various events, attitude towards life, concept of life, etc. , will directly affect the human body.

The pace of modern people's work and life is accelerating, and material desires and money stimulate people. Impetuousness, tension, troubles and depression brought by busyness and competition greatly increase depression, schizophrenia and insomnia. According to Mr. Cao Yimin's article, there are 340 million people suffering from depression in the world, and depression has even become the second biggest disease of mankind.

I think Tai Ji Chuan, who is characterized by "relaxing nature" and "being at ease", is extremely beneficial to people's psychological adjustment and cultivation. The following is divided into three aspects:

First of all, Tai Ji Chuan embodies a philosophical view of the unity of man and nature.

Tai Ji Chuan's "Tao is natural", he is a "small Tai Chi" and nature is a "great Tai Chi". When you have finished practicing a set of Tai Ji Chuan, go outdoors, in the wilderness, in the Woods and on the grass, freely "have nowhere to pull", "move with your posture and be natural", breathe naturally, broaden your mind and "maneuver with the sky", and have no intention of pursuing how high your kick is, how low your posture is and how standardized your posture is, so as to follow the concept of nature and harmony between man and nature. Forget the troubles and enter a calm and natural state, and there will be a good mood and peace beyond the tension and troubles. Is it bad for your health?

Second, Tai Ji Chuan embodies the ethics of harmonious coexistence between people.

The fierce competition between modern people's work and career makes the relationship between people tense or even white-hot, which leads to jealousy, trouble and hatred; Modern science and technology have created an environment for chatting online, reducing the contact and communication between people.

People get together to practice Tai Ji Chuan, creating a brand-new environment. With the music relaxing the trend of boxing, or pushing hands in pairs to "stretch with the music" and "abandon me and go with the flow", they stick together and become a harmonious and pleasant emotional exchange activity. The book "Megatrends" mentioned that "whenever a new technology is introduced into society, human beings will inevitably produce a balanced response, that is, a high mood". As a high emotional activity, it is very desirable for Tai Ji Chuan to cultivate his mind by meditation and seek quietness by moving. Especially in foreign countries, old people and women are lonely on weekdays, and there is an occasion for them to practice boxing, communicate, joke, respect each other and have fun. Tai Ji Chuan, with its gentle sports style, is particularly easy to increase the concept of harmonious coexistence between people. In many developed countries, people who are interested in practicing Tai Ji Chuan get together, which is a "magic wand" to unite people's emotions.

Third, Tai Ji Chuan is a healthy concept of lifelong pursuit of harmony.

Tai Ji Chuan, like other martial arts boxing, pursues harmony in boxing practice, which can be called "lifelong art", that is, "lifelong exercise", which is very beneficial to the elderly. You can get rid of loneliness, practice every day and have new feelings every day.

Tai Ji Chuan is different from other kinds of boxing, and pays more attention to inner cultivation. "With a hollow heart, the spirit of rigidity is promoted." "Qi" is regarded by China people as the source of life. Health preservation lies in nourishing qi, which requires nourishing the heart, and nourishing the heart requires both Xiu De. Only when people are not tired of things and do not seek profit can they be calm and cultivate their essence. Tai Ji Chuan can just calm his heart. Make the essence noble and peaceful.

To sum up, Tai Ji Chuan's fitness is to connect and interact with people's physical health, mental health and life philosophy in slow and continuous exercise; Balance mentality, prolong life, enjoy life and have both. Tai Ji Chuan's special role in people will be fully demonstrated.

As Hauser, an internationally renowned nutrition expert, said in his book The Art of Relaxation, "Unless you can relax, all the vitamins and minerals in the world will not help you."

Relax your body and relax your mood. This is the best place in Tai Ji Chuan. I hope more people practice Tai Ji Chuan, and Tai Ji Chuan will make greater contributions to the survival of mankind.
