Don't let health become a burden.
Liu Youning

With the rapid development of the national economy, people's living standards have generally improved, and the average life expectancy has been significantly prolonged. China is about to enter the aged society. How to keep healthy and energetic in old age, and how to give full play to the "waste heat" and repay the society are issues of common concern and the most controversial issue, and it is difficult to distinguish right from wrong.

People's health and longevity depend on two major factors: one is heredity, and the other is acquired environment and living habits. For most people, the acquired factors are the most important, that is, the living environment after birth, food, clothing, housing and transportation, mental state, living habits, proper physical exercise, cultural accomplishment, and even the number of friends, whether they have suffered a major mental blow. Are all related to health and longevity. Therefore, the so-called "health preservation", that is, focusing on abandoning unhealthy behaviors and focusing on "maintenance" of living habits, is reasonable.

However, the author does not approve of "excessive health care", and even opposes promoting food, medicine and therapy without scientific basis in the name of "health care" for personal gain. If you take health care too seriously and it becomes a psychological burden, blindly accepting unscientific propaganda will only bring harm, but will not bring any benefits. Imagine that almost all ancient emperors paid more attention to health preservation than we did, but not many lived long. It is common for them to die of "longevity pills" carefully concocted by wizards.

I will be 75 years old in less than two months. I still feel energetic and look much younger. More than two months before writing this article, I went to the front line in Wuhan to fight the epidemic. After accepting severe psychological, physical, life, diet and other challenges, I took a short break and almost returned to my original state. My opinion is that "don't pay too much attention to health preservation" is the best health preservation. Sometimes, excessive "health" will become a psychological burden.

Those suggestions that have been scientifically recognized should be strictly observed, such as no smoking, proper physical activity, avoiding air pollution and keeping a clean diet. As for some controversial views on health care, such as drinking and animal fat intake, the author's point of view is that it is not necessary to ban it absolutely, but it should be moderate and not excessive. The author disapproves of taking drugs (including traditional Chinese medicine) for the purpose of health preservation. Drugs can only be used to treat or prevent diseases. Our daily nutrition, including vitamins, can be obtained from a reasonable diet. If some readers still have some unhealthy living habits (excluding smoking), and it is difficult to change them immediately, don't worry too much. Take the author as an example: I know that skipping breakfast, lying down and watching TV, staying up late and getting up late are not good habits, but because of my long-term habit, I have adapted to these laws. Once I break the reconstruction, it will be difficult on the one hand and may not be suitable for me on the other. I am by no means advocating this to readers. I'm just saying that if you have "bad habits" that can't be changed, you don't have to worry too much. Sometimes you can let nature take its course.

It is more important to face life optimistically than to keep in good health. Try to keep a good mood, be optimistic and generous, be tolerant of others, not care about meaningless trifles with others, and have a little "Ah Q spirit" when necessary, which may be of great benefit to health. Whenever someone asks me "Why do you look so young", my standard answer is: "I don't argue with others about trivial matters, let alone compete with others to make them unhappy." Furthermore, if you think you are young, you may actually be young, regardless of your psychological age or physical age. (serial 24) ▲
