Xiong Yan (date of birth and death unknown), also known as Yan Xiongzi and Yan Zi, descended from Ji Lian, was the great-grandfather of Xiong Yi, the founding monarch of Chu.
This bear was once buried with Jiang Ziya as an accessory to Zhou Wenwang. It can be seen that its status is prominent.
When the monarch of the State of Chu offered sacrifices to his ancestors, he juxtaposed raccoons with Zhu Rong. It can be seen that raccoons are second only to Zhu Rong in the hearts of Chu people.
Xiong, a native of the late Shang and early Zhou Dynasties, was the teacher of King Wen. Hanshu Yiwenzhi Taoism contains 22 articles about Xunzi, and Hanshu Yiwenzhi Novelist contains 19 articles about Xunzi. His book died, and now there are 14 lost books, which are copied in the seventh place in Taoism.
Bear, also known as raccoon, surnamed Zhou, is a famous bear. He is a generation of Zhu Rong's family and a descendant of Ji Lian, the sixth son of Lu Zhong. It is said that. When Xiong Ji was 90 years old, he met Zhou Wenwang. Historical Records of Chu Family says that Xiong Ji is "the son of Wang Wen", and he also wrote in Chu Wuwang: "I am the teacher of Wang Wen first." Raccoons are also the ancestors of the bear surname.
The raccoon died, Zhou Chengwang sealed the guest, and his son Li Xiong and grandson Xiong Kuang also died. Therefore, his great-grandson Xiong Yi was named Chu, and his descendants all took Xiong as their surname. There are thirty-one and forty-three monarchs.
According to Historical Records Chu Family, Xiong Ji "was the son of Wang Wen and died young." Chu Wuwang said, "I'll kill the bear first, and then I'll be King Wen's teacher. And early mourning. " However, according to Xunzi, Xunxiong first met King Wen at the age of 90, so the "premature mourning" mentioned above refers to his death before he was sealed, not his longevity.
Xunzi and Han Shu Literature and Art Annals are listed as Taoist schools, which shows that Xunzi is the founder of Taoist schools. Unfortunately, Xunzi's book has been lost.
The core content of Chu culture is Tao.
Many of the most attractive factors in China's personality come from Taoism. Without Taoism, China is like a tree with deep roots and lush foliage. Taoist thought is the foundation of traditional culture in China, and Taoist philosophy has had a great influence not only on Chu people at that time, but also on China people's thought and culture.
And all this is due to Xunzi. In the past, when we talked about the pioneers of family thought, we only mentioned Laozi and ignored Xunzi. Grassroots people think this is unfair. Of course, we are not saying that Lao Tzu is not important.
Laozi contributed the most to the development of Taoism and had the deepest influence, so it is understandable that Taoism later called him the ancestor of Taoism.
In fact, Lao Tzu was not the first person to put forward Taoist thought. The first person who talked about "Tao" in the literature was Gou. He was more than 500 years earlier than Lao Zi.
Xiong is not only the founder of the ancient Chu State, but also the founder of Chu culture and the ancestor of Xiong.
At that time, there was no Chu state, and Xiong was only the chief of the Zhou tribe. He was familiar with magic, enjoyed religious reputation and political mind, and lived for about 120 years. At the age of ninety, he became a teacher in Zhou Wenwang.
There is an ancient book Xunzi, with 22 articles, and then there is the story of death. Now only 14 is left. From this, we can see many records of Xunzi's theory of Taoism:
Xiong Ji said: "This is the way to establish government and order for the happiness of the world."
The bear said, "If you want to be strong, you must guard it with softness. If you want to be strong, you must protect it with weakness. If you accumulate softness, you will be strong, and if you accumulate weakness, you will be strong. See what it has accumulated to know the land of misfortune and happiness. "
Xiong said, "If something is damaged by others, you will gain from it, gain from it and lose from it.". The loss became a loss and died with life. "
The above shows that the concept of "Tao" and Taoist thoughts such as softness and dialectics have been established in Xunzi.
This is the earliest recorded exposition of Tao in history.
It can be said that so far, the founder of Taoism can only be traced back to Xunzi.
Therefore, Xiong Ji is not only the originator of Taoism in history, but also the first founding monarch of Chu and the earliest ancestor of Xiong.
Xunzi said: when you die, heaven and earth move closer. What is a sense of territory? Therefore, what is lost to the other side is profitable here, and the successful one is lost to the other side. Loss of surplus into loss, the same life and death. When you get in touch with each other, you can't get it back. If you don't make progress in one breath, you won't lose; I can't feel its success or its loss. Also like a person, born old, looks smart, and died that day; Skin claw hair, with birth and decline, non-babies sometimes stop, but it is not easy. Sometimes you don't feel it, but you will know it later.
These simple Taoist thoughts have a great influence on later generations.
From these words, we can easily see that Taoist thought has matured.
It is conceivable that when I was a librarian in the Zhou Dynasty, I must have carefully studied the book Xunzi, which was probably burned when Qin Shihuang "burned books to bury Confucianism".
Laozi collected the great wisdom of ancient sages, summed up the essence of Xunzi's Taoist thought, and formed a complete and systematic Taoist theory, which marked the formal formation of Taoist thought. Taoism is the school that has the most profound influence on China's philosophy, literature, science and technology, art, music, health care and religion.
Laozi is just a supplement and improvement on the basis of Taoist thought in Laozi. Finally, he systematically expounded the origin and principle of Taoism in Tao Te Ching, and formed a complete Taoist thought. Laozi is a master of Taoist thought. It played an important role in the formation and development of Taoist thought.
As the first person to put forward the concept of "Tao", we can't forget his outstanding contribution to the traditional culture of China.
