Shawo radish, also known as Tianjin Wei Qing radish, commonly known as "Saiya pear", is a famous agricultural product in Tianjin. It is named after the surrounding villages such as Xiaoshawo and Bijia Village in Xinkou Town, Xiqing District, Tianjin, and has been planted for more than 600 years. The cultivation of green radish in Tianjin was recorded in the Yuan Dynasty, and it has a history of more than 600 years. "Shawo radish-Saiyan pear" and "Shawo radish-crunchy" are two common two-part allegorical sayings in Tianjin. Shawo green radish is the representative of Tianjin radish, which is the most popular among people. Mainly green as jade, it will break when it touches the ground. Eating raw is crisp, sweet and spicy, refreshing, invigorating stomach, promoting digestion, clearing away heat and toxic materials, relaxing chest and regulating qi. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, every autumn and winter, there were cries of selling green radish everywhere in the streets, hotels, bathhouses, theaters and teahouses. People think that green radish is delicious. After eating a few carrots and burping, I felt that my internal organs were ventilated, my stomach was comfortable, and my whole body was comfortable. As the saying goes, "Eating radish in winter and ginger in summer is healthy all year round", and there is also a joke that "radish makes hot tea and angry doctors climb all over the street", all of which belong to the way of health preservation. Why is the green radish in Shawo so delicious? Mainly because the soil there is fertile and suitable for the growth of green radish. There is a folklore here: According to legend, during Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty, Emperor Hou of Zhu had a concubine who liked to eat litchi in the south of China. Due to the inconvenient transportation, it is difficult to keep fresh. Yan Song, the prime minister, put forward a plan to dig up the whole litchi tree and transport it to Tianjin. He took the litchi flying horse from the shore and sent it to the palace, while the residual soil of litchi tree was poured into the canal of Xiaoshawo Village.
