Tai sui, also known as meat ganoderma lucidum, is a legendary medicine that Qin Shihuang struggled to find for immortality. Li Shizhen did record Ganoderma lucidum in Compendium of Materia Medica, and classified it as "Ganoderma lucidum" in the department of "vegetables". Eating it as medicine is regarded as "the top grade of this classic", which has the effect of "keeping fit for a long time and prolonging life". According to Shennong's Classic of Materia Medica, "Ganoderma lucidum is non-toxic, nourishing, benefiting essence and qi, increasing wisdom, curing the knot in the chest and strengthening the body for a long time." Shan Hai Jing called it "seeing meat", "gathering meat", "putting the old age" and "sealing", which was the health food of ancient emperors. Experts from China Academy of Sciences, such as Wu Jieping and Shi Xuemin, have shown that PQQ, the main component of "Meat Ganoderma lucidum", has obvious therapeutic effects on immune regulation, cancer and other intractable diseases, and has the reputation of "biological harmony".
