In 2008, the Wenchuan earthquake caused the roof and wall of the Wei family, the most intact ancient architectural complex in this town, to crack and collapse, which was a mess. The 800-meter-long "Huilongchang" ancient street built in Chenghua period of Ming Dynasty has also been destroyed, and many old houses have collapsed. Due to the continuous aftershocks in Qingmuchuan, the protection of these monuments is worrying.

In July, 2008, ningqiang county began to repair the ancient town of Qingmuchuan. Now the repair has ended, and the overall style of the ancient town remains the same.
