In Putian, the Dragon Boat Festival is carried out in accordance with the procedure of "eating cakes on the first day, zongzi on the second day, snail on the third day, wormwood on the fourth day and one day on the fifth day". Before the festival, clever peasant women should weave boiled eggs with long net pockets, moth balls with small thread pockets, sew yellow cloth tigers, embroider eight paintings, and cut new clothes for their children with five-color thread. In the festival, the first thing is to mill rice and steam cakes, and prepare zongzi to worship the ancestors. In addition, snail is a special product in coastal areas and a delicious holiday. There is a beautiful saying: "Eat snail on the third day of May to increase neck and cure short neck disease." Early in the morning of the fourth day, every household pasted wormwood on doors and window frames to ward off evil spirits, and also pasted the image of "Zhong Kui" in the hall to ward off evil spirits and keep peace.
On the morning of the fifth day of May, people went out to dig "afternoon grass" (that is, all kinds of herbs), such as egg grass, radix aucklandiae, wild wormwood, Bidens bipinnata, Emilia sonchifolia, Schima superba ... and garlic, eggs and duck eggs, all of which were washed and placed in the open-air "noon sun". In the afternoon, they were put into a big pot to cook "afternoon water" for the whole family. Eat delicious water at noon on the fifth day, and then take a bath. After the child takes a shower, he should put realgar on his navel, neck, ears and forehead, put on new clothes, and hang moth balls, yellow cloth tigers, eight diagrams and a string of noon eggs on his chest, which is both beautiful and delicious.
Dragon boat race. The crew first carried the boat to the big ditch in front of the village, and the brother village invited the boat to have a friendly match. The cook served lunch and entertained the guests, which was very lively. "Dragon Boat" was called "old boat" at that time, with a high stretch and a round head, symbolizing that the villagers had become officials; The other is a "flat boat", which is called a "flat boat" in my hometown. Each dragon boat has 22 members. The village flag is hung in front of the boat, and one person beats the drum behind the flag. Ten people paddle on both sides and one person supports the paddle at the stern. The villagers stood by the ditch and shouted for help.
