Almost every LV bag will have a serial number, which has many names: code, internal code, manufacturing code and so on. All because of this serial number. The code contains information such as place of origin and year. Coding rules before 1990:

Most of them are 3-4 digits, representing the production year and month. The first two digits represent the year and the last two digits represent the month. For example, 822 in the figure below indicates that this bag was produced in February of 1982.

In the late 1980s, Lu added English letters representing the place of origin to the code. At the beginning, some letters were put in front and some in the back, which was not very standardized.

Coding rules from 1990s to 2006;

Since the 1990s, there has been a unified code specification. The code of origin is the first two digits in the production period and the last four digits in the production period. At this time, the number 1 and the third digit represent the month, and the second and fourth digits represent the year.

For example, CA 19 15 in the figure below stands for 1995 produced in Spain in June.

Coding rules after 2007:

After 2007, Lu revised the Coding Law. The first two letters of six digits still represent the place of origin, 1 and the third digit in the last four digits together represent the week of the year, and the second and fourth digits still represent the year.

For example, the code MI0 14 1 in the figure below indicates that 1 1 was produced in France in the fourth week.

In the Japanese medieval market, bags in the early 1980s often came across bags that were unmarked and lettered, and they were also genuine after comprehensive identification. The reason is that when coding management was first started in the early 1980s, some masters would forget to sew the coded part or sew it on the inside of the bag by mistake in the process of hand sewing, which made the outside completely invisible. Of course, this is only an early part, and it has been basically standardized since the 1990s.
