Academician Zhong Nanshan, 1936 was born in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province in June. In 1960s, Zhong Nanshan was sent to work in Rushan, Shandong Province. Although he only worked in Rushan for a short year, he experienced one of the most important moments in his life.
Zhong Lao said in an interview with the media: 1965, I joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Weihai, Shandong. At that time, my two party introducers were from Rushan, which was very kind to me. At that time, they were "threesomes", eating, living and working together. Sleeping on a kang with the locals, although I haven't seen it since I left, I have always missed it.
When talking about his impression of Shandong people, Zhong Lao described it as "sincere" and "generous". Local villagers in Rushan are also obsessed with Zhong Nanshan.

Young Zhong Nanshan.
According to Song Qinxian, a villager from Xingjia Village, Haiyangsuo Town, Rushan City, it was called a socialist education activity at that time, and eight people came to Beijing Medical College. Zhong Nanshan just graduated and worked as an assistant in the school, but none of them graduated. At that time, the village called me to take notes with the working group. One day, I chatted with Zhong Nanshan and asked him how much he earned every month. Zhong Nanshan said, 32.5 yuan a month, just like everyone else. I said, you don't need money to see a doctor for the villagers, and you also send medicine. So, when I look at this man, he is really something.
Zhong Nanshan was deeply impressed by the simplicity and kindness of Jiaodong people. 20 1 1 The Bureau of Retired Veteran Cadres of Rushan Municipal Committee is going to edit and publish a memoir of a retired veteran cadre, and specially contacted Zhong Nanshan.
In spite of his busy schedule, Zhong Nanshan personally replied to a letter from the Bureau of Retired Veteran Cadres of Rushan Municipal Committee, which wrote: "Thank you for the call for" Experience Rushan, Oral History ". This article reminds me of my participation in the "four clean-ups" movement in Rushan nearly 50 years ago. To tell the truth, I can't remember many things clearly, but the kindness, enthusiasm and friendliness of Rushan villagers will always impress me. I miss the simplicity and kindness of Rushan people. I am seventy-five years old, but I still insist on working in the front line because of the need of work. Rushan's year left a deep imprint on my life track: treat people sincerely. I wish the masterpiece will come out as soon as possible, and I will fight for the opportunity to return to Rushan! "
Zhong Nanshan personally replied.
After Zhong Nanshan wrote back to the Bureau of Retired Veteran Cadres of Rushan Municipal Committee, he began to write an article "I participated in the' Four Cleanups' Movement in Rushan". As can be seen from this article, Academician Zhong went to Rushan to participate in the "four clean-ups" in 1965.
He was assigned to the Xingjia Brigade of Rushan Ocean Commune, and the secretary of the brigade was Jiang Wenguo. There are *** 1 1 person in the "four clean-ups" task force of Xingjia Brigade. Zhang Lianxun, the battalion chief, is the deputy director of Rushan County Public Security Bureau, a typical Shandong native, honest and straightforward. In addition, there are two local cadres, one is called, and the other is the accounting king of the county finance bureau.
The "four clean-ups" movement began with an inventory of economic problems. Commune unified organization of each brigade to Zhaojiazhuang, six or seven miles away from Xingjia, for centralized rectification. Captain, vice captain, accountant, cashier, etc. Every brigade and squad is the object of inventory, and the Xing family always goes to forty or fifty people. At the mobilization meeting, Zhang Lianxun, the team leader, stressed: "If you have any questions, you should honestly explain them. If there is no problem, we should work hard. This campaign will never be a good person, nor will it let go of a bad person! "
Zhong Nanshan was born in the south and grew up in the city. He was surprised by the hardships of rural life in Jiaodong. When they first arrived in the village, the brigade arranged for them to live in an idle vacant room and three low straw houses. Because it is a spare room, I sleep not on the hot kang where ordinary people cook, but on the cool kang. Summer and autumn are fine. In winter, the kang is cold and the whole body is curled up with cold. Everything that can keep out the wind and cold is on your body. I slept until midnight, and I couldn't hold on to the cold, so I put on all my cotton-padded clothes.
At that time, Weihai people were generally poor, with low grain output and many children, and their lives were very difficult. Their usual staple foods are mainly sweet potatoes and dried sweet potatoes, and tortillas are rarely eaten. They can only eat white flour once or twice a year and seldom eat meat. The annual rations are almost finished in March of the following year. In April, the food they eat is often Sophora japonica leaves mixed with dried sweet potatoes. It's too rare and extravagant to have a meal in jiaozi during the Spring Festival. But the people regard us as sent by Chairman Mao and always take out what they think is the best.
Rural sanitation is poor, and there are many mosquitoes, lice, flies and fleas. That year, Zhong Nanshan's right ankle was bitten by a flea, and it itched unbearable. After scratching, the wound began to fester and swell, and the swollen bag was like a ball. Later, the swelling became bigger and bigger every day, and even the shoelaces could not be tied with cotton shoes. I had to limp to work every day. By the end of the year, his feet were swollen to death, just in time for the Spring Festival holiday. Zhong Nanshan asked for leave from the team and village cadres and borrowed money from friends to go back to Guangzhou for treatment. His family sent him to the First Hospital of Zhongshan City, where he was treated by the orthopedic surgeon Professor Huang Chengda. Professor Huang said: "Your foot is lucky to be treated in time, otherwise it will soon develop into osteomyelitis, and then your foot will be hopeless."
In the "four clean-ups" movement, the team went out to work like farmers, doing exactly the same work as farmers every day, raking fields, weeding and farming, and having meetings at night. Share weal and woe with farmers every day, which makes Zhong Nanshan have a deep affection with them.
When he first arrived in Rushan, Zhong Nanshan always couldn't tell the difference between the east, the west and the north, so every time he went on a business trip or went to the village for a meeting or a fair, he took Song Qinxian, the accountant of the brigade, as a guide. For a time, Song accountant's back always hurt, so Zhong Nanshan gave him acupuncture every day, but it still didn't get better after more than ten days. Later, colleague Cui showed it to him again and said, "Don't needle again. He is suffering from deep muscle pain and work fatigue. He will be fine after staying for a while. " Cui once worked in the outpatient department of Union Medical College Hospital and has rich clinical experience. Later, Song Qinxian's low back pain really got better.
Zhong Nanshan took a photo with his parents.
Although I was only in Rushan for a short year, it touched Zhong Nanshan a lot. In Rushan, no one cares that his father, Zhong, was the director of the Kuomintang Guangzhou Central Hospital. Because he can persist in working despite illness and treat everyone, he has been well received by farmers and introduced him to join the China * * * Production Party as he wished.
1966, after Zhong Nanshan returned to Beijing, he also wrote a letter to Song Qinxian for more than a year. Many years later, Song Qinxian wrote to Zhong Nanshan, hoping that he would "visit Rushan in Weihai".
