The ship was originally designed as a multi-purpose transport ship in the Arctic. After the upgrade, all the equipment and facilities above the main deck of the "Snow Dragon" were updated. The clean laboratory area on board has also been expanded from more than 200 square meters to 580 square meters, all laboratory equipment has been replaced, and scientific research facilities such as atmospheric sampling room, data processing center, sample room and telescopic crane have been built. The modified "Snow Dragon" has advanced navigation, positioning and autopilot systems, and is equipped with advanced communication systems, a hangar that can accommodate two Ka -32 helicopters, 1 apron and supporting equipment. It is also equipped with 1 Snow Eagle helicopter, 1 Yellow River boat and 1 Zhongshan barge to improve navigation support and transportation capacity.

The "Snow Dragon" is equipped with an adjustable propeller, which is flexible to operate when sailing and is conducive to breaking the ice. The hull is made of E-grade steel plate, which will not deform even in the cold climate of minus 40℃. The ship can transport groceries, large heavy goods and various vehicles (with ro-ro warehouses), refrigerated goods, valuable goods, explosives, minerals, standard containers and various oils. Generally, there is a room for two people, each room is about 10 square meter, with central air conditioning, a bathroom with 24-hour hot water supply, a refrigerator, a wardrobe, a writing desk, etc., and there is a port for sending emails online in the room. "Snow Dragon" also has a swimming pool, library, gym, indoor basketball court, Internet cafe, karaoke, laundry room, operating room and other perfect medical facilities and life and entertainment facilities. The seawater used in the swimming pool is newly extracted from clean seawater, so there is no pollution naturally. There are 128 berths on board, which provides the basic necessary conditions for polar exploration and can sail in any sea area in the world.

In the dining room, conference room, cab and corridor of Snow Dragon, you can see various maps, including world map, Arctic map, Antarctic map, scientific expedition voyage map, China's first Arctic scientific expedition road map, Antarctic Zhongshan Station, Great Wall Station topographic map, etc ... Many crew members also brought their own maps and even globes. There are many charts in the cab.

Environmental protection laws and regulations: garbage should be classified and managed, and garbage should not be dumped into the sea;

Safety rules: slippers are not allowed outside the living area. It is inconvenient to wear slippers on the boat, and it is easy to get hurt.

Fire regulations: Smoking is prohibited outside the living quarters on board. Because the scientific research is equipped with helicopters and aviation gasoline, smoking is strictly prohibited;

Water-saving law: it is self-evident to save water.
