What is the real meaning of the water cube?
The water cube, the intersection of water and square, has become the embryonic form of the national swimming center. In the Olympic Park, corresponding to the National Stadium, there is a dialogue between heaven and earth, water and fire, radiation and introversion, shock and poetry, strong personality and changeable emotions, which define each other and complement each other. Her inner wisdom and quiet beauty provide an implicit background for the northern Niangniang Temple in the south and an easy-to-follow sequence for the series of buildings in the north. The light, quiet and poetic atmosphere combines China's traditional culture with modern science and technology. A simple, vivid and mysterious cube is the National Aquatics Center for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games-"Water Cube". Located in the Beijing Olympic Park, the Water Cube echoes the National Stadium on the other side of the central axis and brings out the best in each other, pushing the atmosphere of the main venue to a climax with a harmonious appearance. Its functions fully meet the requirements of swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, water polo and other events in the 2008 Olympic Games. It can accommodate 654.38+700,000 seats and is easy to operate after the game. After the Games, it will become Beijing's largest multi-functional swimming, sports, fitness and leisure center with international advanced level, a precious legacy left by the Olympic Movement and a new bright spot in Beijing's urban construction. "Square" is the most basic form of ancient urban architecture in China, which embodies the social life rules represented by Confucian ethics in China culture. The traditional design concept of China gave birth to the conceptual design of "Water Cube", which well embodies the multi-functional requirements of the National Swimming Center. Therefore, traditional culture and architectural functions have achieved a perfect combination. The relative relationship between the Water Cube of the National Swimming Pool and the Bird's Nest of the National Gymnasium has formed a personality dialogue between the earth and the sky, water and fire, introversion and radiation, poetry and shock, emotion and fortitude. Different from the excitement, power and masculinity of the Bird's Nest, the Water Cube is quiet, peaceful and charming, and its lightness and poetic flavor will change with people's emotions, events and seasons. In China culture, water is an important natural element, which can stimulate people's happy mood. Designers aim at people of all ages to explore all kinds of entertainment ways that "water" can provide, so as to develop all kinds of uses of water. This design concept is called "Water Cube". Designers hope it can inspire people's inspiration and enthusiasm, enrich people's lives and provide people with a memory carrier. In order to embody this concept, the designer deepened the concept of water, not only using the decorative function of water, but also using its unique microstructure. Based on the design inspiration of "foam" theory, the designer wrapped the "square box" with a layer of architectural skin, which was covered with geometric shapes similar to water molecules. The transparent film of (tetrafluoroethylene) ETFE on the surface gives the building an ice crystal-like appearance, giving it a unique visual effect and feeling, so the outline and appearance become soft, and the charm of water is perfectly reflected in the building. "Water Cube" also embodies many technological and environmental characteristics: rational organization of natural ventilation, rational development of circulating water system and wide application of high-tech building materials, which add more flavor of the times to the swimming center. Many innovative designs have also been applied in swimming pools, such as introducing outdoor air into the pool surface, end pools with holes, visual and sound departure signals, etc. This will make the competition pool the fastest swimming pool to help swimmers all over the world.
