Minimalism was written by Joshua and Ryan in America. They gave up their high-paying supervisor jobs, threw away 90% of their possessions, and lived a minimalist life of 2 1 day, becoming pioneers of American minimalism. In the book, they shared their works, life experiences and minimalist philosophy of life. Through the ocean of material things, they found five values that are really important in life: "health, interpersonal relationship, enthusiasm, growth and dedication." Los Angeles Weekly once commented on this book: "This book teaches us how to end the fate of material occupation."
Living in today's extremely developed material, can people really live a happy life through crazy possession of material? "Tao Te Ching" mentioned: "Five colors lead to blindness; Five tones are not deaf; Five flavors are refreshing; Galloping hunting is maddening, and rare treasures are obstacles. " Excessive sensory enjoyment will make people uneasy and is not conducive to a free life.
As the book says, "Almost all the pressure we bear comes from ourselves. Happiness comes from the heart, from the heart, from a meaningful life. " Zhou Zeng, a famous writer, said: "The best state of life is abundance and tranquility. Quiet, because of getting rid of the temptation of the outside world, rich, because of the treasure of the inner spiritual world. "
The author advocates a healthy lifestyle. Health includes emotional health, mental health, mental health and financial health. Health is the cornerstone of a happy life. Reasonable diet, rest, proper exercise and abstinence from harmful things are all conducive to maintaining a healthy life.
It is mentioned in the book that meaningful interpersonal relationships include eight elements: "love, trust, honesty, care, support, concentration, reliability and understanding". In today's fast-paced life, we should spend more time and energy to give attention and support to important people around us. We can put down our mobile phones and accompany our parents to the hospital for physical examination. Prepare a candlelight dinner for your beloved; Take the children for an outing on weekends; Give a greeting call to a good friend who hasn't been in contact for a long time ... "Give someone a rose, and the hand has a lingering fragrance. Those who love love to return, and those who are blessed will be blessed. " Our own life will eventually be nourished by these beautiful relationships.
Live a more meaningful life with less things. By abandoning the superfluous things in life, you can transcend material things, devote your enthusiasm and energy to your own interests and meaningful things, pay attention to personal growth, and make meaningful contributions to others and society. I think these are all a way of life and ideas that the author wants to convey to readers.
Minimalism is not simply throwing things away, nor is it to make ends meet, but to make full use of your limited time and energy to do more meaningful things, so as to get real happiness and happiness. It is a more rational and free lifestyle.
The simple way, I hope everyone can understand some wisdom and inspiration from the author's sharing.
I don't like this book very much. 10 I'll give you 6. But I still recommend a friend who wants to make his life easier to read this book. He will tell you how to get rid of unnecessary "anchors".
In our nature, I hate so many things. For example, some people like to fill every corner of the room with furniture and souvenirs. To tell the truth, in that case, I will feel a sense of tension in the room, just like the air in the room was taken away by those sundries. Some people like the sense of space, and decorate their rooms with furniture and useless decorations as little as possible. You should know that we have to stay in the room for at least eight hours every day, which is one third of your life. The most intuitive embodiment of who you are is your room.
Combined with my experience, I think I was a minimalist before reading this book.
Today is the 49th day that I quit smoking. If it weren't for the soft punch card reminder, I might not have noticed that I have been insisting for so long, or I have given up smoking. After quitting smoking, the obvious feeling is that you are more focused, and you can usually be addicted to one thing for 2-2 hours. My chronic pharyngitis has healed, my vital capacity has become stronger, my teeth have turned white, and my sense of smell and taste has become more sensitive. And I don't have to waste one tenth or one eighth of my monthly income on harmful tobacco.
I quit sweets and drinks, including any cake, ice cream, biscuits, potato chips, snickers and so on. I also gave up coke. If you are tired at school, just drink sugar-free mocha or American style. When I wake up in the morning and get ready to write, I will bring myself a glass of Earl Gray or Jin Junmei.
I deleted the games in my mobile phone (a long time ago), such as Weibo, Tik Tok, etc. Now I have also deleted uTube, and the number of public concerns has been reduced to seven, belonging to six different fields. I know I lack self-control, so I can only do this to prevent them from consuming me.
Last semester, because of work, I had dinner at 1 1 in the evening, and gained 20 pounds. I got a fitness card this year and went there once a week on average. Early to bed and early to rise, never stay in bed.
Although the official account of WeChat was registered in July of 17 (also called wind buoyancy at that time), it was not until September this year that two articles were written. Running the official WeChat account is also one of my plans this year. After waking up at 6 o'clock every day, drink tea, read books and prepare or update an article. Writing has become a habit, and I enjoy it. I am addicted to the pleasure of writing, emptying everything and concentrating wholeheartedly. Every punctuation is me and every word is me.
E-books and tablets simply saved my life. I used to have many paper books, and I wanted to die every time I moved. I reflected while moving the book, and I should be personally involved. But now I have a habit of taking notes while reading valuable books, reading them thick, then leaving the essence notes of my own thinking, reading them thin, and finally giving them away or selling them as second-hand books.
Back to the book, maybe I have already put minimalism into my blood before reading this book, so there is not much novelty. But it can be said that the author introduces the application of minimalism in life from five aspects: health, interpersonal relationship, enthusiasm, growth and dedication.
Whew, it's hard to see interpersonal relationships, enthusiasm, growth and dedication, because it's really chicken soup, and I really hate people telling me that tomorrow will be better! Don't worry! Everything will be fine! I was born with an anti-chicken soup constitution. When I encounter difficulties, my first thought is to try to solve them by myself, instead of missing the stars and the moon and sighing. Nothing is difficult to do. We always think too much and do too little.
According to my past habits, I still refined a few good sentences. For example, in Health One, the author introduced a practical method of keeping his mouth shut. For example, if you want to eat a piece of cake, but your heart is tangled, then take off your coat in front of the mirror and see if you are satisfied with your body. Do you still want to eat cake when you see the fat on your stomach? In this way, eating and pain are linked together, and sweets are gradually given up.
There is also advocating regular exercise, nutritious diet, not eating processed products bought in supermarkets, not wasting too much money on food, and basically donating clothes that have not been worn for more than a month.
The opposite of minimalism is consumerism.
In short, minimalism is a way of life that teaches you how to save money, how to be healthy and how to live in Buddhism.
A few days ago, when I was looking through the scrolls in Jokhang Temple, I saw a book called minimalism in the newly opened bookstore "Paradise Time" near Jokhang Temple. At that time, due to limited time, I just turned a few pages and left. I tried to download the electronic version of this book online, but I couldn't find it. So when I was free today, I went to this bookstore again and spent several hours reading this book.
Although I only read a few pages when I first saw this book, the lifestyle described in the book resonated strongly with me. So when I got home and found that I couldn't find the electronic version of this book on the Internet, I kept thinking about this book, hoping to wait until one day when I was free, and then go back to this bookstore to finish reading this book.
At the beginning of this book, two young people, Georgia and Ryan, are described. Because of family breakdown and childhood poverty, they directly step into social work after graduating from high school. Because both of them suffered from poverty in their childhood, they both worked very hard and took an annual salary of $50,000 as a sign of their career success (because American society generally regards $50,000 as a sign to measure whether a person's career is successful). ), I also think that as long as we reach the goal of 50 thousand yuan, we can get the so-called happiness. Later, after hard work, both of them reached or even exceeded the goal of an annual salary of $50,000, but found themselves unhappy. Because when they achieved the goal of $50,000, they suddenly found that their time was occupied by work. For a job that I don't care about, I spend a lot of time doing things that I'm not interested in. Because everyone in society is used to judging a person's value by the material he owns, under the influence of this consumerist society, the two of them desperately buy things they don't need to satisfy themselves, such as luxury houses and cars, luxury goods and so on. Although their annual salary has reached six figures (US dollars) before the age of 30, they still can't make ends meet because of excessive expenses and live on credit cards. This has gradually formed a vicious circle-the work content is boring and the pressure is too high, which leads to their depression. Then, in order to be happy, they desperately consume and exchange materials for pleasure. Therefore, excessive consumption will bring a lot of debt, and debt will bring pressure, and so on. And it has been going on endlessly.
At a certain age, one topic that everyone will think about more or less is "the meaning of life", and Georgia and Ryan are no exception. They find that their life is full of too many superfluous things, which are eating away at their time, so that they can't spend their time on what really matters. So they decided to avoid the complexity and simplify, and either donate what they don't need in life, sell it, or simply throw it away, leaving only necessities at home. After getting rid of clutter, they found the five most important things in life: health, interpersonal relationship, enthusiasm, growth and dedication.
First, health.
Health is undoubtedly the most important part of life. Health is the premise of everything we do, so we should pay attention to our health, take time to exercise, develop good eating habits and change unhealthy living habits, such as smoking, drinking and staying up late.
Second, interpersonal relationships.
The importance of interpersonal relationship to human beings is also self-evident. Man is a gregarious animal, so one of the most obvious differences between us and other animals is that human beings have language. It is precisely because of human sociality and the urgent desire to communicate with each other that almost all different civilizations have developed their own languages despite their different cultures. The author divides interpersonal relationships into three categories: primary, secondary and peripheral. The main relationships include "spouse, immediate family members and close friends". Secondary relationships include "friends, bosses, and carefully selected colleagues". The rest belong to the periphery. Among these three types of interpersonal relationships, the author divides them into people who have a "positive, negative and neutral" influence on you. Positive relationships help you grow, while negative relationships will consume you.
Third, enthusiasm
If what you do is not what you love, you won't get happiness from it. If life is just for a salary to support the family, day after day, year after year doing things you don't like to do, that kind of life is meaningless. Of course, not everyone knows their passion. I remember watching a video on Ted talk some time ago, and the speaker happened to talk about how to find his passion. He said, you just need to ask yourself one question: "What is the thing you can't help doing?" What are the things you can't help doing? )。 Besides, finding your passion can not only make you happier, but also make people perform better when doing what they love. This is very reasonable. If you are not interested in something, or even hate it, how can you do it well? I suddenly remembered working in a foreign bank in XX last year. The leader didn't say anything about bullying and molesting female employees. Even after I talked with potential customers at the bank gate and failed to bring them into the bank, he said to me, "Why do you tell him so much?" Let's sleep in first. "There is a saying that the enterprise value experienced by employees comes entirely from his direct leadership. If such a person can become the leader of this enterprise, this enterprise is simply not worth working for. After staying in such an enterprise for a long time, I really can't think of any other skills besides learning how to cheat. Only when I left that bank and returned to the education industry did I find my enthusiasm for the education industry. As the saying goes, cherish what you don't know without losing it. And I think I am more enthusiastic about education than cheating, so I think I will be better at education than cheating.
Fourth, growth.
Reading makes people grow, and experience makes people grow. What people are most afraid of is not that they have achieved nothing in the end, but that they have never tried anything all their lives. In XX Bank, under the oppression of the former leader, our team collectively reported a series of illegal acts such as the former leader molesting subordinates. Although the great leader is very reasonable, after the normal process investigation, the former leader was fired by the personnel department. But the newly assigned leader can say whatever he wants. Look at you. You've lost all your jobs. Look how pathetic they are. What's the vendetta? In her eyes, reporting bad guys according to normal procedures became villains, and finally everyone in our previous team was squeezed out. It may also be that she has a ghost in her heart, fearing that she will end up like our last leader. This incident has taught me a lot. I want to resign again and again, and I don't want to waste time in such an enterprise. People around me advised me not to leave, advised me to stay for another year and save up enough work experience before leaving. I regret listening to them, although I know they are good for me. But I am also very grateful for this experience, which made me see the bank with a shiny surface. In fact, everyone in it has a hard time. It also taught me to look at people. Some people seem to have a good relationship with you, but everything you say to her will be passed on to the leader at a critical time and become a weapon for her to crowd you out for personal interests. This experience also made me understand what kind of enterprises I am willing to work hard with to grow.
The author in the dedication book has a goal: let himself grow and then influence the people around him. A person who takes blindly will not be happy, and a person who knows how to give is truly happy.
After reading this book, I suddenly remembered that I brought a lot of clothes when I went to Shanghai for the first time. As a result, two years later, I didn't even wear more than half of my clothes once. I also bought a lot of books, although I read them all, but I finally had a lot of trouble to transport them home. When I came to Tibet this time, I decided to take a minimalist approach. I only brought two sets of change clothes and some daily necessities. I didn't even bring books this time, and I'm not going to buy books in Tibet. This time, in order to keep everything simple, I only read e-books when reading. When we get rid of those useless things that occupy our space and time, we can make time for the really important things in life. Only by removing complexity can we see which is more important in life.
Minimalism is becoming more and more popular among young people. With the material life getting richer and richer, we are exposed to a wide variety of goods and information, and we don't know how to choose, or we never thought about buying it in buy buy. However, in real life, what a person actually needs is very limited, and people have a tendency to choose. Some things are habitually chosen after use, and the rest may only fall in the corner.
In this book, the two authors are also faced with a variety of complicated material choices, which makes them feel at a loss and learn from the painful experience. So they decided to give up, leaving only simple necessities, lowering commodity standards and pursuing practicality. From this process, they summed up five core values to share with us. Let us focus on these five points and live a simple and happy life.
These five core values are health, interpersonal relationship, enthusiasm, growth and dedication.
First, health. The author mainly talks about diet, exercise and sleep. Diet is adjusted by changing your diet structure. The main foods advocated are water, green drinks, fresh fruit and vegetable juices, vegetables, fruits, beans, fish and organic foods. Exercise is to choose a sport that you can stick to. Some people are suitable for running, some are suitable for swimming, some are suitable for cycling, etc. Any exercise that can make you move is more useful than standing still. Sleep, ensure enough sleep time every day and adjust the quality of sleep.
Second, interpersonal relationships. Mainly maintain primary interpersonal relationships, 1, intimate relationships, mainly lovers, partners and spouses; 2, close friends, generally no more than 5; 3. lineal blood relatives, mainly close relatives such as parents and children. The most important thing to get along with others is to change yourself, not others, and influence others by changing yourself. The best relationship between people is the benign combination of sex and difference. We can maintain meaningful interpersonal relationships through the eight core elements of love, trust, honesty, care, support, concentration, reliability and understanding. When there is a problem in interpersonal relationship, we can deal with it through the four key words of T.A.R.A tolerance and tolerance; Accept, accept; Respect, respect; Appreciation, appreciation, these four stages improve interpersonal relationships.
Third, enthusiasm. Career and career have their limitations, which can't make us devote ourselves wholeheartedly, but the mission can. Find your mission by finding your own interests. First of all, we should get rid of the shackles of identity, status, uncertainty and money, and then liberate ourselves and get out. Secondly, carefully observe and review what you usually do. What excites you, excites you and excites you for the longest time is probably your interest. Finally, the best way to turn enthusiasm into mission is imitation.
Fourth, growth. Only through positive and beneficial self-change and persistence can we feel the growth of ourselves. Only with the continuous growth of self can we feel the value and significance of life. Associate a lot of satisfaction with a change, and this change becomes necessary.
Fifth, dedication. Giving and helping others grow can make us surpass ourselves and gain greater meaning and value in life.
How to practice these five values? For each behavior, we can ask ourselves the following questions. What aspect of my life can this behavior improve? If I can't change it, how can I help the fifth district?
The significance of minimalism lies in getting rid of the redundancy of life and paying more attention to the most basic things and tools.
Success = happiness+continuous progress.
The book minimalism is attracted by its title. A lot of things can't be done well, and the work is too tired. Maybe my thinking is too complicated. Is there a way to simplify complex problems? Although the content in the book is not as good as expected, it still has some enlightenment.
The author mentioned seven points in the book.
First thought: it's actually very simple. When we solve problems, we should try to find the simplest way. Ask simple questions and seek simple answers. This is also the core idea of minimalism, which is often said to simplify complex problems.
The second idea: think clearly about what you want to do. If you don't know what you want to do and what you need, it is very difficult to finish it. At work, we should really understand what we want to do, and also find out whether others want to do it. Many times, we are so busy that we forget what our real goal is. Therefore, we should always find out what our goals are, such as work and life.
The third idea: everything has continuity. Understand this, we must make a plan, the more detailed it is, the better, and make clear our intentions. It is mentioned in the article that when a project is completed, it should be broken down into several details to speed up the work progress. In fact, the same is true in life, and many things are interlocking. Sometimes, I feel that one step is wrong and the other is wrong.
The fourth idea: if you don't do it, you will never finish it. In other words, you can't just be a giant of thought, but a dwarf of action. Everything is difficult at the beginning, and you will never finish it if you don't do it. Things will only get worse when they accumulate. I feel the same way about it. Only when you start, things will not be so difficult.
Fifth idea: Things often turn out differently than expected. As we often say, the plan can't keep up with the changes, so we should leave room to arrange things and make emergency plans.
The sixth way of thinking: clearly define the outcome of things. There are two kinds of results, either completed or not, so in the process, we should refine the goals and pay attention to the trends.
Seventh idea: learn to look at the problem from the perspective of others. This article is very suitable for both work and life. Many times, the problem seems complicated and can't be solved. Maybe you are stubborn in your own thoughts, and you should learn to put yourself in each other's shoes.
Reflections on Minimalism I recently read Joshua's Minimalism. I think this is a very good book.
Joshua once worked 70 hours a week, 362 days a year, and got a six-figure annual salary at a young age. He bought a luxury car in his twenties and married a beautiful wife. With more and more money, he has more and more things, but he finds that his happiness has not increased. In fact, his life is terrible. So the author later calmed down and thought about what he wanted.
What is minimalism? There is only one picture of Einstein in Jobs' room.
In life, we buy a lot of things. We work hard day after day to catch up with them. We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to achieve something or become like others. Therefore, we are under greater pressure than ever before.
Minimalism introduces some common sense, such as how we should do things and how to solve difficulties. If we encounter difficulties, we should think about it. There must be many people in this world who are more miserable than us. Thousands of people die of hunger, disease, torture and other reasons every day. Compared with these situations, most of the problems we encounter are nothing.
When we feel stressed, we don't open the newspaper or TV to see what tragic people and things are around the world. As a guide, our pressure will be much less. When we think from the perspective of others, we can understand others. When we can understand others, we can face ourselves better.
After reading this book, I feel really safe. I need to know myself, who I am and what I want. The book Minimalism not only introduces the author's personal experience, some ways and practical means of living a minimalist life, but also helps us rethink life from the inner level. When everything is sorted out, you will understand the significance of interpersonal relationship, growth, enthusiasm, dedication and health in life.
I think "minimalism" is not only an idea, but also an opportunity to change your life and yourself. You should know how to choose in life. Only by making life simple will you have the energy to discover what is really important in life. So how to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime life in a limited time and create your own wonderful value and happiness?
