What fabric is spandex?
Spandex is spandex fabric.

The scientific name is polyurethane fiber, 95% cotton and 5% spandex, which is equivalent to Lycra. It has high elasticity and can be stretched 6 ~ 7 times, but with the disappearance of tension, it can quickly return to its original state. Its molecular structure is chain-like, soft and malleable polyurethane, and its characteristics are enhanced by connecting with hard segments.

Elastic fibers are divided into two categories: one is polyester chain; One is polyether chain. Polyester elastic fiber has strong oxidation resistance and oil resistance; Polyether elastic fiber has good mildew resistance and detergent resistance.

Spandex has excellent elasticity. The strength is 2 ~ 3 times higher than that of latex yarn, the linear density is thinner and it is more resistant to chemical degradation. Spandex has good acid and alkali resistance, perspiration resistance, seawater resistance, dry cleaning resistance and wear resistance.

Application of spandex

Spandex can be used in garments that can be stretched to meet comfort requirements. Such as: professional sportswear, fitness clothes and sportswear, diving suits, swimming suits, swimsuits for competitions, basketball suits, bras and suspenders, ski pants, discos, jeans, casual pants, socks, leggings, diapers, tights, belts, underwear, jumpsuits, spandex underwear, suspenders for male ballerinas, protective clothing for surgery and protective clothing for logistics forces.

The proportion of spandex used in ordinary clothes is very small. In North America, it is rarely used in men's wear, but more used in women's wear. Because women's clothing requires close fitting. When in use, a large number of other fibers, such as cotton and polyester blends, are added to minimize the gloss.
