Shanghai International Circuit is an important part of Shanghai International Automobile City's automobile culture. The track is about 25 kilometers away from Hongqiao International Airport and 55 kilometers away from Pudong International Airport. During the competition, the circuit can connect Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces through the above transportation network, and then radiate to the whole Yangtze River Delta and even the whole country.

The track started construction in 2002, and signed the right to host the 2004-20 10 China Grand Prix with the FIA. The main works of the track and the main and auxiliary stands were completed before March 2004 and passed the acceptance of the FIA.
