Songtang River, the source of Bozhou Songtang River, belongs to Huaihe River system. According to legend, two squires, Song and Tang, contributed money to dig a river to solve the flood. Later generations named this river Songtang River as a memorial.

Bozhou has outstanding people and talented people. Laozi, the founder of Taoist school, a generation of sage Zhuangzi, and Cao Cao, a famous politician, strategist and writer, invented Leprosy San and Wuqinxi. Hua Tuo, a heroine who joined the army on behalf of her father, and Chen Tuan, a famous scholar in Song Dynasty who was good at poetry, writing, painting and Yi, were all from Bozhou.
