The Personal Life of Marcus Ruhr
Marcus' full name is Marcus Ruhr. /kloc-0 made his debut in new york IFBB bodybuilding competition in 1998, and won the ninth place with a weight of 122.5 kg, which surprised the audience. Since then, popularity has soared, and individual competition results have also soared. In 2000, he won the second place in the "Champion Night" competition, and won the Toronto International Professional Bodybuilding Competition in the same year. His height1.80m and weight145kg. His muscle growth rate is amazing, and there is no sign of slowing down in four years. Now, let's follow the interview with markus ruhl by Jean Harris, a reporter from MUSCLEMAG magazine, and walk into the inner world of this German giant. Reporter: Please briefly describe your family background. Rolfe: I was born in darmstadt on February 22nd, 1972. I have a brother and a sister. My father died when I was seven years old (1979), but my mother was very capable. Lively and willful when I was a child. I'm not young, but I'm not paying attention. In the eyes of my family, I am energetic and bold. I dare to try anything that others can do. When I was a child, I often got into trouble because I liked adventure, but I was not a bad boy. Other children like me very much, because I am older and can protect them from being bullied by older children. Reporter: What sports did you like as a teenager? Luo: At that time, I played football very well and dreamed of becoming a professional player. In Germany, being a professional football player is much better than being a professional bodybuilder! Reporter: How do you feel when you see bodybuilders in magazines or in your life? Luo: The first bodybuilder I knew was Arnold Schwarzenegger, when I was a child. His muscles look as if they are swollen. It's unbelievable. I said to myself, "Maybe I can be like him when I grow up. It must be great to feel so strong. " Arnold inspired many young people to start fitness, and no other bodybuilder can do it like him. He has been brilliant for 20 years, and he still often appears in bodybuilding magazines until now. Now we may have stronger bodybuilders, but Arnold is always the best. Reporter: Which bodybuilder inspired you to start fitness? Rolfe: It's me. My muscles were well developed before strength training, and I knew I could grow faster. Since then, Dorian Yates has given me great encouragement. His figure is great, but what impressed me most was his hard training and the heavy objects he used. He is a soldier, that's all he can describe. Dorian went forward bravely, and Hao was not afraid. Even though he was injured one after another, he was still able to beat all the other players and win the title of "Mr. Olympia". He has everything a bodybuilder should have. Reporter: Most people began to practice bodybuilding from the age of 14 to the age of 16, while you started to practice bodybuilding at the age of 20. Why?

Luo: I wanted to practice when I was a teenager. I didn't have the conditions at that time. The gym is too far from my home. I can't start working out until I get my driver's license, so I started later than others. Reporter: From your current point of view, was your previous training schedule and diet reasonable? Luo: I feel a little embarrassed when I think of my previous training schedule and diet. I got it all wrong. I didn't eat enough, especially protein, and I didn't take any supplements. As for training, it was a mess. For a time, I trained four parts every day, which was too much, but I didn't know what else to do. I was obsessed with training and muscle growth and just wanted to grow a piece as soon as possible. I thought the more I practiced, the faster I grew. Although I did something wrong, it worked well. People who practice bodybuilding will go through that period first. Reporter: When did your talent in bodybuilding appear? Did someone else find it first? Luo: Other bodybuilders say that I have good bodybuilding talent and will become a great bodybuilder one day. I also believe this is true, because after practicing in the gym for several months, I became the oldest. And some people have practiced 10 years or even 20 years, which is not as good as me. I'm already strong. If I hadn't practiced bodybuilding, I don't know how fat I am now. Exercise and bodybuilding make me muscular, slim waist and wide shoulders, very stylish, and the muscles on my chest and thighs grow rapidly. I participated in the bodybuilding competition for the second time and won the German championship.

Reporter: How do your friends and family feel when your neighborhood is getting bigger and bigger? Did you lose some friends because of fitness? Luo: I lost all my friends when I started practicing bodybuilding every day. Suddenly, we no longer have the same language. They laughed at me and said, "Did you go to the gym again today?" They think my idea of becoming a bodybuilder is ridiculous. Many of these friends grew up with me. I feel sorry for losing them. Fortunately, I soon made some new friends in the gym. They are like-minded and won't laugh at me for being crazy. Reporter: Do you feel uncomfortable at your age? For a person who weighs 145 kg, the chairs in airplanes, cars and cinemas are definitely not big enough. Rolfe: Sometimes I feel sorry for those overweight people, because nothing is designed for them. Not on the plane.

Suitable for our seats, I always fly first class, not because I am extravagant, but because I can't fly ordinary class at all. If I squeeze into an ordinary seat, there is no room for passengers on both sides, let alone a car, and clothes can kill people, because there are no such big clothes. If I need to wear clothes, I must order them. It's not easy to be a big guy, but I can't help it. This is my own choice. Reporter: Some bodybuilders, especially the smaller ones, often complain that the current referees only pay attention to size. Do you think so? Rolfe: No, I don't think so. Referees also vary from person to person. Some referees like big men, while others emphasize body shape. No one can win because he is big. Just look at Craig covas. If he can win just because he is big, he will be "Mr. Olympia" every year. If you want to win, you must have a moderate figure, a proper proportion and good muscle quality. Ronnie Coleman is a good example. He is not small, but he stands out in other ways. Complaints are all amateurs, accustomed to the distinction between heavyweights. Once they have obtained professional qualifications, the competition in the International Health Federation is completely different. Even if it is less than 70 kg, it must compete with people of 135 kg. Reporter: How did you feel when you won your first 1 professional championship? Rolfe: That was the most exciting moment in my life. I hope this is not the last time. It's hard to express that feeling in words. Now I especially understand why Ronnie cries every time he wins the prize.

Reporter: People say that referees only like familiar faces, such as Ronnie Coleman, Flex Wheeler and Kevin Leeflang, and they don't pay attention to other excellent players. Do you think so? Rolfe: Yes, but the faces of Rosier, Carter and Jackson will be familiar soon. We are a new generation of bodybuilders. As long as I go all out and keep working hard, I'm sure I can win my place. It's only a matter of time. Reporter: Do you think it is easier to become a bodybuilder in America than in Germany? Luo: The situation in the United States is different. Bodybuilders will get more recognition and more attention. There are many fitness enthusiasts and gyms here, and the conditions are superior. But in Germany, training and daily life are easier, because you are not so famous and your life is relatively calm. Some American bodybuilders even wear headphones when training, otherwise people will keep greeting you or asking questions. Not in Germany. As far as gyms and sports supplements are concerned, I don't lack anything in Germany, otherwise I wouldn't be like this. Reporter: Are you going to move to America in the near future? Rolfe: Maybe one day, but not now. For me, the quality of life in Germany is higher. All my friends and family are here, which is very important to me. I can't imagine how to live in a strange country without them. I like America, but Germany is my home. Reporter: Do you want to continue to grow muscles? Do you want to grow bigger or have better muscle mass? Rolfe: If I want to be stronger, I can still do it. I weighed only 104kg when I participated in the first competition, and 130kg when I participated in the last Olympia. Everyone says I don't need to gain weight, but it's hard to keep training without goals. If you don't want to gain muscle, what should you practice? I want to do better in major competitions. I need to practice clearer muscle lines and clearer muscle blocks. This is my next goal. Reporter: People who don't know about bodybuilding often think that bodybuilders become so strong after taking steroids. What do you think of this? Rolfe: This is just an excuse for some people. It is often those who have never tried bodybuilding that will say this. They sat on the sofa and ate junk food, saying that bodybuilders are different kinds of steroids. They just want to comfort themselves. They don't want to admit that they are not formed because of laziness. Reporter: Do you think professional bodybuilders must pay the price of health if they want to hit the top competition? Do you think the health problems of bodybuilders are exactly the same as those of ordinary people? Rolfe: If you have reasonable training and diet, there is no danger. Some people are in more danger because they have not taken preventive measures. If you go to see a doctor regularly. Take the initiative to learn some related health knowledge, the risk will be greatly reduced. People always imagine that professional bodybuilders are taking medicine from bottles and attribute their strong bodies to this. The fact is that these professional bodybuilders are very talented. No matter how much medicine an ordinary person takes and how hard he trains, he still can't reach their figure.

Reporter: Do you have any recreational activities or hobbies? Rolfe: I often play games at the game station. I think playing games from time to time can relax myself and forget many troubles. Reporter: Do you have a girlfriend or wife? If so, how does she help you keep fit? Carol: I have a girlfriend who plans all the things about fitness for me. This lifestyle is actually very harsh, and I need someone who can understand. Fortunately, my girlfriend understands this very well. Training and eating are the most important things in my life. Few people can understand this, but it's my job. My girlfriend helps me prepare my diet and stick to a reasonable diet with me. This is no joke. Reporter: What kind of movies do you like best? Do you have a favorite star idol? Rolfe: I like mel gibson's Star Wars and Braveheart. It's all about exploring life. There is a scene where Mel tells his men that if they don't fight the British, their survival will lose its meaning. This is a metaphor. In life, we can wait for things to happen, or we can make our own decisions and choose our own state of life. I think everyone should actively try a better lifestyle. Reporter: What is the best and worst thing about becoming a professional bodybuilder? Luo: I like to be famous, and I also like to communicate with my fitness enthusiasts. They make me feel that all my efforts in the gym are worth it. What I don't like most is a light diet that I have to eat every day. Interestingly, people often say to me, "You like chicken breasts and vegetables, so you can practice bodybuilding." In fact, this is not correct. I like to eat food such as sugar and cream. The reason why I don't eat is that I'm afraid to give up all my previous efforts. In fact, sometimes I am greedy. Reporter: If you are not a bodybuilder, what do you want to be? Luo: An excellent football player. In Europe, football players are superstars, just like American football, basketball and baseball players. However, to become a football player, I may need to lose weight. Reporter: What do you think is the future trend of fitness, and how do you plan to adapt? Luo: Fitness will be more and more recognized by people. I want to express my gratitude to all those who have supported and encouraged me. It's not easy to be the best in this sport, but I won't let you down!
