The 80-year history of Foshan Jason Wu Sports Association
First, the composition and development of Foshan Jason Wu Sports Association
1909, a generation of hero Huo Yuanjia, who is famous for his "lost fist", together with patriotic youths such as Chen Gongzhe, Chen Tiesheng, Lu Weichang and Yao Zhenbo (known as the "Four Masters of Jason Wu" in history), avenged the "Sick Man of East Asia" and promoted martial arts, and initiated the establishment of the "Jason Wu Gymnastics Club" in Shanghai. On the other hand, it actively promoted sports to save the country and rejuvenate China, which aroused strong repercussions in China at that time.40880.98989898896 Dr. Sun Yat-sen once wrote down the "martial spirit" as a gift to the Jason Wu Sports Association. Jason Wu Club's aim of "strengthening the country and strengthening the body" has been positively responded by China society and martial arts lovers all over the country. Since the establishment of Shanghai Wujing General Association, branches at home and abroad have been established one after another, and Jason Wu clubs in Foshan, Hankou, Guangzhou, Wuzhou and Nanning have been established one after another, which has affected commercial ports with a large number of overseas Chinese such as Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore and Vietnam. More than half a century ago, it has developed into a worldwide mass martial arts organization. Jason Wu's sportsmanship has spread all over the world.
1in the spring of 920, our twin sisters and Chen, the president of Shanghai Association, went to Guangzhou to attend the first anniversary celebration of Guangdong Association. Chen Gongzhe then returned to Shanghai. At the invitation of Foshan firecracker industrialist Ren, Chen and Huang Shuohai, president of Guangdong Association of Hometown Association, and his party visited Foshan. Chen and others lost no time in launching sports to save the nation in Foshan and performing martial arts on stage. At that time, the feudal thought that men and women were not close was still deeply rooted in people's hearts. Some conservative people think that practicing martial arts will encourage fighting and cause social chaos, and it is even more immoral for women to practice martial arts. However, some people of insight see that promoting sports, strengthening the country and inspiring the national spirit are the needs of the times and the hope of rejuvenating China. So, respond positively and organize hard.
1921July 6th, Foshan people planned to set up the preparatory meeting for Foshan Jason Wu, and the venue was temporarily located at No.5 Fenshui 4th Street, with 4 promoters1person, mostly from industry, commerce, medicine and education. Yang Shenlun and Liang Shaotian from Shanghai Environmental Association, Luo Xiaoao and Huang Lihai from Guangdong Association were invited to guide the opening ceremony. On July 10, Foshan Jason Wu Club held its inaugural meeting in Qingping Theatre. On that day, Jason Wu Association sent martial arts teachers, music teachers and dancers to perform martial arts and entertainment programs. About 2000 people from all walks of life in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and this city attended the ceremony. The first board of directors, the General Council and 24 directors. Zhong was elected chairman and Xiao An was elected director of the State Sports General Administration. The remaining directors are Cai Mianqing, Xiao Jiannong, Huo Yongmin, Li and Luo Daqing, and the first batch of applicants *** 144. On August 1, the venue was moved to No.9 Lianhuadi.
Foshan Jason Wu Club adheres to the purpose of Shanghai Central Jason Wu Club and advocates: attaching importance to morality, cultivating the mind and improving personality; Wisdom should be knowledgeable, enrich intelligence and distinguish right from wrong; The body should be healthy, strengthen the body, shoulder the heavy responsibility of morality, intelligence, physique and education, and cultivate new people with wisdom, benevolence and courage. At the beginning of the meeting, nine departments were set up, namely, sports, culture, entertainment, editing, communication, picketing, common affairs, accounting and medical care.
1922 10 June10, the board of directors of Jason Wu was reorganized, with Liang Dunyuan, a Huaxia industrialist who loves martial arts and is enthusiastic about public welfare, as the chairman. As a founding member, he gained the effect of martial arts and cured chronic diseases for many years. Therefore, I have deeper feelings for Wu Jing. He took the lead in everything and spared no effort to win re-election until the Anti-Japanese War. During his tenure, the CD was very prosperous.
Due to the increasing number of members, the venue of Lotus Club is not enough. 1923101On October 25th, Foshan Jason Wu Club moved to Lianfeng Paper Company, No.39 Changxing Street. There is a fixed martial arts stage in the museum, which can be used to perform martial arts and all kinds of entertainment, Cantonese opera and drama. Reorganize all departments in the meeting, especially the following four departments:
1. General Affairs Section-Director of Section II: Liang Dunyuan, Deputy Director: Xiao Jiannong, with accounting, clerical, communication, general affairs and medical staff;
2. State Sports Department-Director: Li Peixian, Deputy Directors: Cai Liqiu, Lu Henian and Zhao Wosheng; The Ministry includes: national sports coaches and members specializing in uniforms, equipment and wardrobes.

After several years of development, Jason Wu Club has a certain number of members. 1923165438+10, Foshan Jason Wu Women's Sports Association held its inaugural meeting in the Fake Qingping Theater to examine and approve the independent actions of the staff. The location is still in the Jason Wu Club on Changxing Street.

Jason Wu Club held a business meeting in Changxing County Street 12 years, with a maximum of more than 300 members (except students). The office of Jason Wu Club is from Fenshui West Street to Changxing Street, relying on the support of enthusiastic chambers of commerce and businessmen. 1933 The board of directors composed of Liang Dunyuan, Li Peixian and Lu Zhiwen discussed the establishment of a permanent meeting place belonging to the Association. Then apply to the then Nanhai county government; With the approval of Li Haiyun, the county magistrate, and Li Daoxuan, director of Nanhai District Administration Office of Foshan City, 250 pieces of Huajing land in Zhongshan Park were allocated to build a new club. The funds are donated by social enthusiasts. The original plan was to build three interconnected buildings: the middle seat is the auditorium, with martial arts school, stage, dining room, storage room, developing and printing room, and there is a martial arts school stage and a playground where cadres gather in front of the door. The east and west seats are connected with the auditorium, and each has a side door. There are two rooms in the East Block: reception room, office, library, reception room, conference hall and cloakroom. There are dressing rooms, table tennis rooms, conservatory of music, men's and women's dressing rooms, bathrooms and toilets in the west seat. The conference facilities are well thought out. Unfortunately, the funds were insufficient. 1935 only built an auditorium, which cost more than 30,000 yuan. Among them, Li Cihao, a descendant of Li Zhongsheng Hall (formerly known as Foshan Baoji Pill), donated 1 10,000 yuan in the name of his late father, Mr. Lee Shau Kee, with the largest donation. Later, Chairman Liang Dunyuan personally donated money to build the west wing of Jason Wu Wushu College, which was completed and started teaching on 1937, and Mr. Lu Weichang, one of the founders of Shanghai Jason Wu Society, was hired as the president of Wushu College.
1938, Foshan fell. The Jason Wu conference site was occupied as a granary by the Japanese invaders, and the Jason Wu conference completely stopped, and the members scattered. Mr. Liang Dunyuan was also killed by a Japanese plane when he took refuge in Wuzhou, Guangxi, and all the documents and files were gone. During this period, some members of Jason Wu Club in Shi Lan Town, Foshan City participated in the fight against Japanese invaders organized by villagers spontaneously, showing patriotic national integrity and heroic qualities of fighting bloody battles in a hail of bullets.
After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Jason Wu's board of directors was reorganized by Chen Junyi, Yuan Berg, Qiu Gongshi, Li Peixian, Mai Dahua, He Xinping, Lin Junxuan and District Rongju, and the meeting was actively resumed. They have a feeling that after the National Revolution and War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the Jason Wu Association still stands, which is the luck of the Association and the country. To overcome all difficulties and hardships, you must have a strong body. Those who are strong advocate strengthening sports. In order to realize the purpose of Jason Wu Club, Yuanjia Middle School (also known as "Construction") was established on the original site of Jason Wu Wushu College. Du Ruolian is the first headmaster and enrolled the first batch of students in 1946.
1947, Du Ruolian resigned as principal. The successor principal is Lu. After liberation, various martial arts non-governmental organizations were reorganized, and the Jason Wu Sports Association in Foshan stopped its activities for a long time. 1986, with the care and support of Foshan City and relevant departments, the 20th Council was established through reconstruction and restoration.
After the resumption of the meeting, the first chairman was Mr. Mai Dahua, member of CPPCC and executive director of Federation of Industry and Commerce. The daily work is organized by Li Riqing, District Rongju, Ceng Kun and Huang Kexin.
With the rapid development of the conference, Wang Zengliu, an early member and general manager of Foshan Land Group Company, became the president of 2 1. 199 1 According to the procedures of the association, President Wang Zengliu was re-elected. Mr. Wang Zengliu is the President of the 22nd and 23rd Council, and Ms. Huang is the Vice President and Secretary General of the 22nd Council of 2 1. 1998, approved by the 23rd Board of Directors, Vice President Huang retired from the 23rd Board of Directors after reaching the age of 70 according to the articles of association. The 23rd Vice President and Secretary-General is Mr. Xue Mianben.
In order to keep up with the development of the situation and continuously strengthen the construction of Jason Wu Club, President Wang Zengliu advocated that the 24th Council must be younger and more knowledgeable, and select members who are enthusiastic about the cause of Jason Wu and have attainments, and assign them to the main leading bodies of the Jason Wu Standing Council. For this reason, the 24th Board of Directors was very cautious in selecting cabinet members. After a long period of screening, the Board of Directors and the Standing Council elected the 24th Council by secret ballot, with Mr. Xue Mianben as the president and Mr. Liang Xuhui as the vice president and secretary general. Their academic qualifications are all junior college or above, and they have their own titles in their respective posts and occupations. The average age is 45 years old. The main leaders have their own industries and become members of Jason Wu, which is worthy of the name. The integration of human resources in the 24th Council promoted the development of Foshan Jason Wu to an unprecedented height. At this point, with the support from all walks of life and the efforts of the congregation, Foshan Jason Wu Club has developed rapidly.
Second, the early Wushu activities of Foshan Jason Wu Club
The aim of Jason Wu Club is to promote martial arts and keep fit, so it abandons the prejudice of Wulin sects and embraces the strengths of hundreds of schools. As the poem says, "The armory is here, and it is the elite of Sifang River Basin. The quintessence of China's national culture should exist and the glory should be followed. " Its National Sports Department (also known as Wushu Department) occupies a pivotal position in the meeting. The director of the National Sports Institute "must have national sports experience, and moral knowledge is filled by people who trust him." From July of 192 1 year to June of 1923, he was the director of the State Sports Department. From July 1923 to before the Anti-Japanese War, Li Peixian was appointed by the Shanghai Central Jason Wu Association to be in charge of the state-run business department.
Jason Wu Club's boxing methods are mainly Yellow River, Eagle Claw and Manta Boxing. Taiji is dominated by four schools and is compatible with other schools. Most of the early teachers were the Boxers of the Central Wu Jinghui in Shanghai. Successively: Sun Shouqing, Zhao Guilin, Liu Qinggui and Chen Hongshu of the Yellow River School; Eagle claw sent Li Baoying and Liu Fameng; Mantis sent Luo Guangyu, Yu Lejiang, Chen, Fan Yongzhen; The Yangtze River sent Yao Dianxia; Taiji Chuan Wu, Wu, Wu Daxie, Shi Zaixian and Yang Shouzhong; Flower fork sent Zhu Yuping. A large number of outstanding local Wushu coaches such as Cai Liqiu, Lin Junxuan, He Xinping, Zhao Wosheng, Su, Li Riqing, Pan, Qu Rongju, Feng Chuyi, and Huang have been trained and brought up.
Wushu teaching in Jason Wu Club is basically carried out according to the curriculum of Jason Wu Club in Shanghai Central. All new members must accept the ten basic routines stipulated by the Central Jason Wu: four sets of single boxing routines (Twelve Tantui, Gong Li Boxing, Jiequan and Zhanda Boxing); Two sets of single training equipment routines (bagua knife, sheep stick and five tiger guns); Two sets of boxing practice routines (touching feet and boxing); A set of equipment training routines (single knife and serial gun). It is divided into three levels: junior, middle and senior, and the class hours at all levels are two years. According to Master Pan, the martial arts exam was very strict at that time. In addition to Zen teachers, the Shanghai Federation and local branches send staff to invigilate. Ten basic routines have been stipulated in the primary examination in Jason Wu. If you pass, you will be issued with a primary graduation certificate and a yellow star sign. One set of intermediate long and short instruments and three sets of boxing, and those who pass the examination will be issued with intermediate graduation certificate and blue star logo; There are three more difficult routines (optional) in the advanced exam, namely boxing and long and short instruments. If you pass, you will be awarded an advanced diploma and a red star logo. Six years after graduation, members can choose their own hobbies to continue their studies, or they can apply for positions in the conference. On August 29th, 1923 organized the first small martial arts group of Foshan Jason Wu Club-the Athletes' Group, to strengthen training and motivate its members to study martial arts diligently. Members include: Li Peixian, Liang Dunyuan, Cai Liqiu,, Fan, Chen Guannan, Lu Henian, Huang Gongliang and Cai. Qiu has a poem praising athletes, saying, "Xun can wake a sleeping lion, which is a good name to strengthen species." . How many talents have been invested around, and some athletes support Zen Mountain. "Since then, many small martial arts groups have appeared in Jason Wu Club at the same time or one after another. Including: Yingzhi Group (established on July 2,1924); * * * Dough (established in192465438+February1); Logistics Group (established on July 2 1,1925); Inspiration Group (established in1925165438+10/month); Zhihengtuan (established in192665438+February 65438+February). Team members encourage each other, support each other, learn from each other, urge each other and make progress together.
In addition to teaching in our association, the teachers of Jason Wu Club also go to schools or private schools in the city to teach martial arts, publicize the spirit of saving the country through sports in Jason Wu Club, and actively promote the development of martial arts. According to the statistics before 1927, nearly 2,000 students from 17 schools in the whole city received the training of national fitness in Jason Wu, and regularly held large-scale sports meetings and Wushu competitions.
In addition, students of Jason Wu Wushu College and Yuanjia Middle School founded by Jason Wu Society are taught Wushu by coaches of Jason Wu Society.
Third, the early cultural and recreational activities of Foshan Jason Wu Club.
Jason Wu Club focuses on the study of martial arts and all sports undertakings, supplemented by useful discipline and appropriate entertainment. In the 1920s and 1930s, the contents of cultural affairs and entertainment were rich and colorful. Members can participate in various recreational activities after practicing martial arts. Teachers act as professional volunteers in the club.
Jason Wu Club used to have music, Mandarin, English, Linchi, painting, eloquence, books and monthly magazines.
The Music Department is responsible for the rehearsal of Quyi, military music, Cantonese opera, drama and dance. Quyi includes Sanyu written by Mai, Farewell My Concubine written by Zheng Jianfeng, and Finding My Relatives. Most Cantonese operas and dramas choose to use morality to influence social themes. They staged a new screenwriter, Awakening the World, a famous drama in ancient costume, Song of Eternal Sorrow in Ming Taizu, and an improved drama, Catch and Release Cao. This play contains the mysterious art created by Huang Shaoqiang. Dances include funny dance, healthy dance, harmonious dance, peace dance, bodhi dance, butterfly dance, Zhuang dance, drought dance, shield dance and antithesis dance. Jason Wu's dance has its own unique form, which is composed of various dance methods that express sports with the help of national exercises.

During the period of 1926, Foshan Buhang Club proposed to the board of directors of Jason Wu Club that if Buhang's children only charge half of the tuition fees, they can provide some venues on Liu Fen Street to run schools. Based on the consideration of carrying forward the spirit of Jason Wu and strengthening the Wushu team, the board of directors decided to agree to open the school, named Yuanjia Primary School, and appointed Huang Gongliang as the first school director. At first, only four classes were enrolled, and then gradually expanded to more than 10 classes, and the school building moved to Jinxian Street. It was closed during the occupation, and then the Anti-Japanese War was won.
During the period of 1946, due to inflation and wage arrears, Foshan ordinary middle school was basically closed, and the graduates of two classes of Yuanjia Primary School encountered difficulties in entering higher education, and their parents reacted strongly. The board of directors then decided to use the venue of Jason Wu Club to open Yuanjia Middle School. At first, only two classes were enrolled, and later it was expanded to six classes.
