In 2002, Kunshan successfully held the bowling competition of the social department and the boxing competition of the youth department of the 15th Provincial Games. Xinfu Arena was also rated as the best competition area in the 15th Provincial Games. At the 15th Provincial Games, Kunshan athletes struggled hard, gave full play to team spirit and achieved excellent results, winning 14 gold medal, 14 silver medal and 13 bronze medal for Suzhou team. Zhang Cheng was selected for the China men's basketball team and won the silver medal at the 2002 Busan Asian Games. Cai Yaping won the third place in the women's long jump in the national college track and field championship, Li Dinghai won the second place in the triathlon in the national youth track and field age group competition, the third place in the 1 100-meter hurdle and the third place in the 4X 100-meter relay. 37 fitness centers were built throughout the year, and community sports facilities were improved. Mass sports are rich and colorful. During the year, the Healthy Yangko Competition, Family Bowling Competition, Ligao Cup, Table Tennis Association Cup, Table Tennis Competition, Giant Cup, Champions Cup Basketball Competition, Swimming Competition, Fifth Fishing Competition and Football League were held successively.
