Understand the profession of coaching.
The coach is a neutral and selfless supporter and a professional "thinking partner". Accompanying and listening is his way of working, inspiring and thinking is his basic skill, and achieving others is his mission. He can be a helper in our life, so that everyone can cope with the future with full energy.
Coach's formulation was first translated by coach in English, which means carriage in English. The carriage can't tell the client where to go, but the client (the coachee/the coachee) can tell the carriage where you are going, and the carriage can help you get there. In other words, the coach will not tell us where to go, but can better help us find the direction and find a more suitable answer.
At one time, coaching was the patent of enterprises and executives. Now, tutoring applies to all learning relationships. For example, teachers should be coaches, parents should be coaches, coaching communication, coaching leadership ... coaches can help them improve their personal performance and learning quality. I believe that they are born with creativity and wisdom.
Unforgettable coaching experience
During the summer vacation of 20021,I was lucky enough to meet seven professional coaches in Shanghai's public welfare study activities, and I experienced the feeling of being with them and got a deeper understanding of the profession of coaching.
At the beginning of the activity, seven coaches talked about their persistence in coaching. Although their experiences are different, their original intention is the same-to heal themselves and give others energy so that everyone can meet a better self.
The professional explanations of the coaches have deepened the understanding of this profession. What should I do as a coach? Learn to ask questions, which should be open-ended, and give your companions a space to answer, so that they can slowly open their hearts and pour out themselves; Learn to listen, not only to other stories, but also to their needs, wishes and values. Learn to give feedback, see their needs from listening and help them find their own problems. Coaches should be like a mirror, let them see their blind spots and find the right direction through dialogue.
In the experience session, seven coaches walked into seven groups to reproduce the dialogue between coaches. In view of the confusion that the open class is not recognized, Zhuang walked into our group and had a face-to-face exchange with Huanhuan, the teacher in the group. At first, I always had the impulse to interrupt Huanhuan's stories, but Mr. Zhuang's eyes were soft, he listened to every story of Huanhuan sincerely, and recorded the key words in the language from time to time, which gradually calmed me down and learned to listen.
Huanhuan stopped and began to ask: Is this quality class important to you? What is the standard of quality class? Have you ever taken your own class? What do you think? ..... Every question will give enough time for Huanhuan to fully talk and give timely encouragement.
Huanhuan burst into tears unconsciously, and fully poured out her grievances and dissatisfaction. The confusion in her heart is also solved by self-examination again and again: she should constantly cultivate herself in her daily work from the aspects of improving the artistry, language expression and affinity of teaching design.
It turns out that on the road of life, those intimate friends who have listened to our stories and given us help and nourishment seem to have played the role of coaches. With them, they have inner warmth and motivation to move forward.
As teachers, do we really listen to the children's voices? Has the child ever opened his heart for us? Have we ever given them companionship and support as coaches? I can't help thinking ... we should learn from the professional behavior of coaches and apply it to our own education and teaching. We should become coaches and teachers, empower more children and help them grow up!
? ? Reflections on being a coach-type teacher
During the summer public welfare study in Shanghai, I found a particularly common phenomenon: every coach and tutor has a lovely nickname, which is kind, lovely and warm. After reading it once, it will be deeply remembered in my mind. These nicknames are in Chinese, such as Baby Teacher, Star Teacher, Huahua Teacher, Anna Teacher and so on. There is English, my English foundation is not good, but the only thing I remember particularly deeply is the name of teacher Song Yunhua. In order to make everyone remember her English name better, she directly used the method when we first learned English as students-using Chinese homophones instead. She told everyone: "My English name is easy to remember, three drops, no water, long cavity-three drops", which made us laugh at that time. Unexpectedly, this trick really works.
With nicknames, you can call them by their first names, whether you are a student or a teacher, or whether you are old or young. Nicknames can be blurted out without last name, without strangeness. On and off the stage, they immediately merged into one, and a sense of equality and intimacy came to mind instantly. Especially for such a group of teachers from rural areas, nicknames immediately eliminated the anxiety brought by this strange city and strange environment. Call out everyone's nicknames. We are old friends who meet again after a long separation. It turns out that nicknames have such unknown curative effects.
I think: to be a coach and teacher, we must first establish an equal and harmonious relationship between teachers and students. At the beginning of the new semester, we might as well give ourselves a lovely nickname, which is unusual and unexpected. I believe we will win the "preference" of our classmates immediately.
That nickname may seem like a humble move, but every time you shout it loudly, the children will love you more from the heart; Talking at home will make children feel more proud. "Look at my relationship with the teacher, we are all on a first-name basis ..." What kind of strength will the child develop inside?
I once had a colleague, Mr. Li Dongmei, who had good oral English and had translation experience before taking office. Different teaching styles, let students call their English names-"Anna". During recess and after school, "Anna, Beibei ..." came one after another, with endless voices; In class, the children are very excited, their hands are straight and their faces are red. At that time, I only thought that she loved the profession of teachers and children. Now that I think about it, in fact, she has been on the way to becoming a coaching teacher.
The relationship between tutors and students must be harmonious. They are no longer teachers of unattainable children, but teachers who can be trusted and close to students. They can easily enter the inner world of students and listen to their real thoughts. ........
The best education is companionship, and the most beautiful enjoyment is spiritual communication. As a teacher, if you always take a condescending attitude, your child's heart will naturally not open to you. What we need to give them is companionship and trust, so that they can feel respect and recognition.
Children in primary schools are young, lively and active, often unable to sit still, and always like to report to teachers. It seems that more time is spent on solving "trivial" class affairs every day. Sometimes, it is inevitable to be upset by life events; Sometimes, there is unhappiness between children, which is really nine Niu Yi hairs; Sometimes, we are busy with the daily work at school ..... I don't know when we started, we lost our patience and care, and we were less serious when listening to students' inner voices, and more casual when solving problems, seemingly pursuing short, flat and fast ways to solve problems.
In life and study, we should give positive encouragement and affirmation to children's performance, and even give strong recognition. When children encounter difficulties and problems in their work, we should help them find the root of the problem, guide them to seek solutions to the problem together, and experience the sense of accomplishment and satisfaction in solving the problem.
Whenever we want to "attack", we might as well listen to the children first. In the process of listening carefully and calmly, we may find something more useful than "blame". For those students in the class who are grumpy and love to be "tough", we should not "hard" touch "hard". First of all, we should let him truly express his thoughts and express his understanding with a kind attitude. After he melts all the worries, anger and other emotions, let him look at it himself. Where is his mistake in front of the rules? According to the rules, you should do it yourself? I believe this will gradually be internalized into students' conscious behavior of continuous reflection and timely adjustment.
Similarly, I believe that in the process of accompanying children to grow up, we can also gain something from it, inspire and grow.
Many people think that appreciation is not just praising children, but saying "you are great". In fact, this is an overly one-sided understanding. This way of appreciation may make a child feel particularly excited and excited for a period of time before he is three years old, which can ignite his passion for life and everything. But with the growth of age, for a child who has already entered primary school, he already has his own understanding of external things. If we use this appreciation in general, it will definitely make children feel that our appreciation is more "moisture" and less sincere. These "praises" gradually no longer arouse any ripples in their hearts.
This requires teachers to have a pair of eyes that are good at discovering in life, discovering the "bright spots" of children and strengthening them in time, so that the advantages of children can be carried forward in your appreciation and praise.
Understand students' personality characteristics. In life, it is not difficult to find that every child has his own personality and characteristics, and it is for this reason that they have become the only unrepeatable individuals in the world. Some children are very clean, and their clothes are always neat every day; Some children are very enthusiastic and especially willing to help others. Some children are not good at talking, but they have visible efforts. Other children may be keen on class management and show their faces when something goes wrong ... there is always a mischievous person in the class, which gives us a headache. This is also a real existence.
As the saying goes, "Five fingers are not the same length." We should constantly enlarge and strengthen the advantages of each child after facing up to the personality differences between children. "What kind of world you see, what kind of heart you will have", "What kind of encouragement and expectation you give your children, what kind of teenagers you will repay in the future." This kind of targeted praise will make it easier for children to understand and know what to do in the future. Your sincere affirmation can also encourage him to do better in the future.
See the child's efforts. There is not much difference in the intelligence level of each child, but some people are good at this and others are good at that. These congenital factors are beyond the control of children. And whether a person can develop well in the end depends on hard work. Therefore, we should appreciate children's efforts, not cleverness.
Pay attention to children's progress. Teachers should be able to find out where children are better this time than last time, so as to stimulate their motivation and enthusiasm and strive to do better next time. Moreover, encourage children to strike while the iron is hot and praise them in time to avoid the disappointment of children who are not encouraged in time, thus greatly weakening the effect of appreciation.
Appreciate and bring us closer to our children; Appreciate, let us see the shining light in children's eyes; Appreciate, let the child's heart be full of firm and upward power!
As we all know, "it is often more important to ask a question than to solve it". Because solving a problem may be just a mathematical or experimental skill, but asking new questions requires creative imagination.
The coach never gives an answer, but open-ended questions can make people think and find the answer for themselves. Timely inspiration and constant questioning are effective tools for coaches to make people introspect.
As teachers, our questions are very enlightening in class. How to ask questions, when to ask questions, the quantity and quality of questions will directly or indirectly affect the teaching effect. But in real life, many of our teachers are not good at or can't ask questions.
Have we ever asked such a question? "Is that so?" "Good" and "Right" ... These questions make students blurt out without thinking. If this kind of problem dominates the classroom, it will not only not activate students' interest in learning, but also lead students' thinking to the depths.
Our teacher should learn to ask questions at key points. Thinking begins with surprises and questions. Guiding students' thinking with questions can often stimulate students' learning motivation and promote the improvement of classroom efficiency. In classroom teaching, we should fully understand students' hobbies, create real situations, fully mobilize students' multiple senses and participate in learning. If you ask questions in time when students are learning difficulties, you can better help students think and guide them to the depths.
Psychological research holds that when students encounter difficulties in learning, teachers do not directly give answers, but set questions to guide students to overcome difficulties and seek answers through their own efforts, which will greatly improve students' learning interest and confidence. At the same time, they can form a belief that difficulties can be overcome.
We should pay attention to the quality of classroom questions. In class, it is not how many questions are asked, but more about the quality of the questions. See if it asks the key questions, whether it is appropriate, whether it is accurate and whether it helps students to think deeply. Will there be such a phenomenon in class, after the teacher asks questions, the students look confused and at a loss? In fact, there must be something wrong with our problems, which requires our teachers to think from their own problems.
Being good at asking questions is the key for teachers to change their classroom teaching roles and improve teaching efficiency. Learning to ask questions should be a compulsory course for our teachers.
In the communication with the coach, the coach's manners, optimistic attitude and thoughtful way of thinking will have an intangible and profound impact on sparring. Therefore, to be a coach-type teacher, we must set an example and strive to be the kind of person that students want to be.
If students are required to be honest, they can't lie; If students are required to save food, they should not throw food at will; If students are required to be civilized in words and deeds, they should behave gracefully ..... Only when teachers are consistent in words and deeds and set an example can they convince, infect and edify students. As the saying goes, example is more important than words.
Che Nier Chevsky, a philosopher in a hungry country, once pointed out: "Teachers should be the kind of people they make students". This fully proves that teachers' personality charm is the most powerful force in education.
Teachers should have dreams and pursuits. When a person has a dream, he will have tireless pursuit and endless motivation. "The most beautiful scenery is on the road, and the infinite scenery is on the dangerous peak." With dreams, people are on the road to the most beautiful scenery all their lives, neither tired nor tired. ......
Teachers should have firm beliefs. Dare to believe in the power of faith, and believe that giving children trust, companionship and expectation will definitely make them grow stronger.
Wu Shuai, a teacher of Shanghai Writing Summer Camp, is an ordinary rural teacher in Zhumadian, Henan Province, but he loves education and writing. I often see his attempts and reflections on education in newspapers and magazines, inspiring and thinking about countless front-line educators. Under his influence, the students also began to write. More than 40 students in his class publish nearly 200 papers in various journals every year, with an average of 5 papers per person! It's really hard to imagine You know, writing a composition is a daunting thing for many children, but it is a real thing!
Confucius said, "It's just and not ordered; His body is not right, although he does not obey. " Lead by example, not only let us live to be the best in our children's hearts, but also constantly see better ourselves!
From coaches, I keep seeing better teachers. I hope we can all keep learning and grow into coaches and teachers, not only empowering ourselves, but also illuminating more children around us!
