The National Speed Skating Hall "Ice Ribbon", the only new venue in the urban area of Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022, will appear to the world with a sense of science and technology and futurity. As an engineering designer of the "Ice Ribbon", Beijing Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. has been committed to integrating science and technology into the Winter Olympics, creating a high-tech Olympics and contributing to the re-transformation of the "Double Olympic City".
Since the construction of the National Speed Skating Hall began on 20 17, both the construction technology and the construction speed have reflected the highest level of China's current construction industry. Its main stadium has a building area of about 80,000 square meters and a height of 33 meters, which can accommodate about1.20 thousand people. As a speed skating competition venue on the Avenue of Beijing Winter Olympics, the National Speed Skating Hall is designed with all ice, which is the largest ice surface in Asia and the largest ice surface in the world with transcritical direct cooling system of carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide refrigeration will be very uniform, and there will be no different temperatures in different parts and uneven hardness of the ice surface, which is the key factor for high-level competitions such as speed skating.
The stadium adopts modular control unit, which can divide the ice surface into several areas and make ice according to different projects and standards, and the "fastest ice making" will also be realized. In order to adopt all-ice design and fully consider the use after the game, it provides hardware support for mass fitness and meets various needs. The venue can receive more than 2,000 citizens at ordinary times, and all ice sports such as ice hockey, speed skating, figure skating and curling are carried out at the same time, so as to realize sustainable use after the games.
In appearance, the National Speed Skating Hall is surrounded by 22 crystal clear and beautiful ribbon curved glass curtain walls, and the built-in structure adopts hyperbolic saddle-shaped single-layer cable net roof design, which can greatly save materials and only use a quarter of the traditional roof.
It is these exquisite technical structures and the efforts of engineers that the "ice belt" can frequently set world records.
