What are the benefits of squatting?
Generally, there is no benefit.

According to scientific investigation, among all the eating postures, the most scientific eating posture is sitting posture, followed by standing posture, and the least scientific posture is squatting posture. However, in some rural areas of our country, due to the limitation of long-term living habits and conditions, a kind of eating posture-squatting to eat is still popular. This eating posture has four disadvantages:

First, when eating while squatting, in order to maintain the balance of the body and not fall backwards, it is inevitable to form the habit of leaning forward slightly. In this way, when food passes through the esophagus, it will slide down one side. Over time, the esophagus will be deformed.

Second, when squatting to eat, the stomach is squeezed. Due to the bending of lower limbs, the blood circulation is blocked, which hinders the blood supply of gastric capillaries, and the normal digestive function of the stomach is affected, which is easy to cause digestive tract diseases.

Third, squatting to eat, because legs are easy to fatigue, so eating speed is often too fast, lack of chewing slowly, and digestion and absorption of nutrients will also be affected. Furthermore, if you eat hot meals too fast, it is easy to burn the digestive tract, cause mucosal bleeding, promote mucosal hyperplasia of the digestive tract, or cause ulcers.

Fourth, squatting to eat is often limited by local conditions, and you can't accompany too many non-staple foods and vegetables. Eating with such a single staple food for a long time will lead to the lack of vitamins B 1, B2, nicotinic acid, vitamin C and other nutrients, and induce many diseases, such as angular stomatitis, chapped skin, beriberi, and decreased body resistance.

Therefore, it is necessary to correct the bad habit of squatting and eating by sitting or standing.
