Health records in the third trimester
Unconsciously, I have been pregnant for 32 weeks. With luck, everything goes well, no morning sickness, no discomfort. My boss always said that I was the most "cold" pregnant woman she had ever seen. Because I'm visiting schools in the United States now, the prenatal check-ups are all in accordance with American procedures. At the age of 28 weeks, blood sugar was routinely screened. Unexpectedly, I failed. For this reason, I also want to make a record and leave some different memories for my children in the future.

Briefly introduce the screening of gestational diabetes mellitus in the United States, also called "sugar screening". It usually takes 24-28 weeks. Let you drink a bottle of sugar water containing 50g one hour before blood drawing, and then draw blood. The unit of measurement is different from that in China. The normal range is 60- 129mg/dL, while that in China is 3.33-7. 17. My inspection results are as follows:

My hospital will have its own case online, and all the test results will come out soon. So, after seeing this result, I am very different. Because it exceeds 200mg/dL, some hospitals may be stricter, that is, 180, which will directly diagnose gestational diabetes.

Once the "sugar sieve" fails, it is necessary to check the "sugar tolerance".

You need to be on an empty stomach for 10- 12 hours, then drink sugar water containing 100g on an empty stomach first, wait for 1 2, 3 hours, and draw blood again, four times at a time. This sugar water is so weak that it is difficult to swallow. When drawing blood, I also found a very interesting phenomenon. My two arms were drawn by different people. One is a young girl with long nails and gloves. I whispered to my husband that if this were in China, I would definitely be fired. . . The other is an elderly nurse. According to the regulations, it takes 15 seconds to wipe the alcohol cotton ball. She really kept saying "one, two, three". . . . "And I'm sorry she has obsessive-compulsive disorder. But obviously, the young nurse punctured my blood vessel, while the experienced nurse pumped it in the same blood vessel twice, as if nothing happened.

If blood is drawn more than twice in four times, it is diagnosed as gestational diabetes. Sorry, I lost it for the second time, but I still couldn't avoid it. I officially became a "sugar mom".

To tell the truth, deep down, I never thought that I might become gestational diabetes. I used to be the captain of the volleyball team in college and participated in the 5-kilometer race walking project of the university sports meeting. Although I began to gain weight after work, I often went to the gym to exercise before coming to the United States. When I was pregnant for one month, I climbed the mountain for three hours unconsciously. Go to Yellowstone National Park when you are pregnant for two months, and walk up to 25 kilometers a day. I went to Las Vegas when I was five months pregnant, and walked at most15km a day. I'm fine at ordinary times, and I'm walking around at work.

Such a body makes me very confident that I can't get diabetes. The result is a slap in the face. . . .

My midwife ordered a blood glucose meter and test paper for me, and asked me to make an appointment with a diabetes educator here, that is, a diabetes educator (this is a profession that needs examination registration and has professional knowledge in all aspects of diabetes blood glucose control).

Because my own basic research is about diabetic eye complications, and I have made countless mice into diabetic models, I know how terrible it is to end up with diabetes. In addition to causing overgrowth, hypoglycemia, jaundice and premature delivery to the baby, I became a real diabetic myself in the five years after giving birth to the baby. As a foodie, this is simply bad news.

So, before I met a diabetes educator, I had begun to give up rice, eat only one piece of whole wheat bread for a meal, and then eat more vegetables and meat. Take a walk after supper. During the routine check-up, I was 3 kg lighter than the last check-up two weeks ago.

I finally met the diabetes educator yesterday. The waiting room is comfortable and the whole clinic is interesting. Because there is no clinic, I actually met her in a dermatological clinic.

The first thing we said when we met was that it's not your fault to have gestational diabetes. Great changes have taken place in the whole body during pregnancy. Hormone secretion will make the whole body hormone level very different from that before pregnancy. Especially in the third trimester, the insulin secretion of lowering blood sugar can't keep up. Diabetes may occur at this time.

I got a brochure, which introduced the carbohydrate content of various foods. What I need to ensure is 175g of carbohydrates every day.

Asking me what to eat is the difference between Chinese and western cultures. . . Because they all cook by themselves, the fried bean sprouts and vines at noon and the black wolfberry they often drink can only be communicated through Google. . .

But through the comparison of doctors, I can really eat less rice than I used to eat. This may be the biggest reason why Asians are prone to gestational diabetes.

So basically controlling the meal will be much better. Through communication, I found that my carbohydrate intake is insufficient now, which is not a good thing. Everything should be measured.

The following is the time to know the ingredient list. Every commodity has a list of ingredients, and there are two main points to understand:

1. How much is a copy?

2. How many carbohydrates are there in this food?

Educators have given me great freedom in what to eat. No matter how much sugar is, it is also carbohydrate, so as long as the carbohydrate is not over the standard, I can actually eat anything. You don't need to change your life routine or your diet preference for this. You just need to control your carbohydrate intake every meal every day.

This is different from my previous view. It's not that I'm diagnosed with diabetes, or that the world is over, and my life is completely different from before. On the contrary, it's just that life will be more temperate, and it will be temperate in a good direction.

After talking to educators, my mood seems to be much better.

I need to prick my finger four times a day to measure my blood sugar, once on an empty stomach in the morning and once an hour after three meals. And get up in the morning and check my urine ketone to make sure I get enough carbohydrates.

What I was asked to do was as follows:

The only thing to note is that you can exercise 15 minutes after meals, which is very helpful for blood sugar consumption; At the same time, you need to eat some snacks from time to time to ensure that you eat less and eat more meals. You can eat some food for 2-3 hours to ensure that your blood sugar is in a relatively stable state.

I was asked to write down in detail what I eat every day, my blood sugar level, and my exercise. Check your homework after a week.

If everything is all right, I can upload my blood sugar value directly to the internet every two weeks.

A great feeling that American doctors give me is that they attach great importance to patients' emotions, because this is one of the important factors for patients to follow the doctor's advice and achieve real treatment results. Therefore, their treatment will do their best to facilitate patients. I used to lose weight by high protein and low fat for a while, and the process of calculating how to eat was very complicated, so I thought the same situation would happen. However, educators have no requirements for protein and fat intake, and the purpose is clear, so controlling carbohydrates is the first step. Eat healthy, and the baby will naturally have the nutrition he needs.

Slowly, I also have confidence. I hope that through this adjustment, I can have a good result in the follow-up visit next week.

Having said that, what I want to say is that even if you really have gestational diabetes, it's not terrible. After giving birth, you can control your diet well and keep it, and you can be a healthy mother and baby. :)
