Frostbite, also known as non-freezing frostbite, is a common skin disease in winter, mainly due to the invasion of cold, low temperature and humid environment, resulting in an inflammatory injury of local skin.

When the skin is in cold (0 ~ 10℃), sudden temperature change or humid environment, local arterioles will contract strongly. Over time, arterial blood vessels will become paralyzed and then expand, resulting in venous reflux obstruction and congestion, leading to poor local blood circulation and inducing chilblain.

Frostbite is common in early winter and early spring, especially in children, women, anemia, obesity, diabetes, sweaty hands and feet and people who work outdoors in low temperature for a long time. It is common in fingers, back of hand, toes, heels, auricles, nose and other parts, and the local manifestations are redness, swelling, itching and pain. In severe cases, blisters, ulcers and secondary infections may occur.
