After opening max, click Customize in the toolbar above, and then select Configure User Path.

Then the first page is file I/O, and you can choose the path.

The general default path is

c:\ Users \ admin \ Documents \ 3ds max

Copy the above path directly and paste it into the input box under the project folder.
