What curved nose cone was used to launch Tiangong-1 for the first time?
The Von Karman curve was adopted for the first time in Tiangong-1.

The new fairing design of Long March 2 FT 1 rocket used to launch Tiangong-1 adopts streamlined "von Carmen" curve. The use of "von Karman curve" has two functions: first, this design can reduce air resistance and fluctuating pressure; Secondly, the load influence of the arrow structure is reduced, which is also beneficial to the load design of the fairing.

The main task of the aircraft is to complete the space rendezvous and docking flight test with Shenzhou-8 as the rendezvous and docking target. Ensure the life and work of astronauts during their short stay in orbit and ensure the safety of astronauts; Conduct space applications, space science experiments, space medical experiments and space combat technology experiments.

Technical status:

Tiangong-1 target aircraft is newly developed, which adopts two-module configuration of experimental module and resource module, with total length 10.4m, maximum cabin diameter of 3.35m, take-off mass of 8,506kg, maximum cabin diameter of 3.35m, and designed on-orbit life of 2 years.

The experimental cabin is mainly responsible for the work, training and life of astronauts. This is a completely sealed environment, with sleeping area and fitness area for astronauts to keep their bones strong. The cabin consists of a sealed cabin and a non-sealed cabin rear cone section, with a maximum diameter of 3.35 meters and an axial length of 6.4 meters. The effective activity space of the sealed cabin is about 15 cubic meters, and the unsealed rear cone section is equipped with remote sensing test equipment.

The passive docking mechanism and the rendezvous and docking measurement cooperation target are installed at the front end of the experimental cabin. After docking with the spacecraft, a transfer channel with a diameter of 0.8 meters can be formed.
