What is the prospect of raising hedgehogs?
Hedgehog is a small medicinal animal with high economic value. With the decrease of wild resources at home and abroad and the increase of market demand, hedgehog breeding is developing.

First, the medicinal value. Hedgehog skin, known as Exogenous Fairy Clothes, is an important traditional Chinese medicine, which has the effects of lowering qi and relieving pain, cooling blood and stopping bleeding, promoting circulation of qi and detoxifying, and relieving swelling and pain. It is mainly used to treat nausea and vomiting, hernia abdominal pain, intestinal wind, hemorrhoids and leakage. Hedgehog meat is a top delicacy with high protein. Barbecue can tonify the middle energizer, regulate stomach qi and increase appetite. Hedgehog fat can cure severe diarrhea, and rubbing can cure alopecia, scabies and skin parasites. Soaking the brain, heart, liver, gallbladder and kidney of hedgehog with wine can refresh the mind, eliminate fatigue and strengthen the body and bones.

Second, the construction of farms. Hedgehogs have strong adaptability and low requirements for the environment. But hedgehogs have the habit of being quiet and afraid of light. They don't sleep during the day and go out at night. The venue should be built in a quiet place to avoid human interference as much as possible. When building the field, a courtyard must be built, and the height of the courtyard wall is about 0.8-1m. The nest room in the courtyard is divided into two parts: the inner nest and the outer nest. The inner nest room is a nest for placing hay, pine leaves or straw. The outer nest room is an activity place, in which mounds or rockeries are built and flowers and shrubs are planted, so as to shade the sun in summer and keep warm in winter, and be as close as possible to the wild environment for them to feed, find spouses and live. Generally, a farm of 10m2 can raise 30-50 animals.

Third, breeding. Hedgehog is Nocturnal Animals, and it can be fed with feed and water at one time around the evening. Feed can be mixed and cooked by hand. Formula: corn flour 30%, wheat bran 20%, fine rice bran 10%, fish meal 5%, vegetables 30%, bone meal 2%, iodized salt 1%, oxytetracycline powder 1%, amino acids 1%, and trace elements. If hedgehogs just caught in the wild are domesticated artificially, animal feed should account for 80% of the diet, and then it should be gradually reduced as appropriate to increase the proportion of plant feed. The feed must be fresh and clean, and the fruits and vegetables should be washed before feeding. For example, melons and vegetables bought from the market should be soaked in the pool for 1 hour and then washed and fed to prevent pesticide poisoning. At the same time, feed should be diversified, and a single feed will cause hedgehogs to bite each other and refuse to eat.

The standard of hedgehog diet is: 50- 150g daily feed, 150-300g daily feed, 75g, 300-600g daily feed 150g. Hedgehogs eat more in summer and grow faster, but sleep less in winter.

A domestic hedgehog should have a male and a female in the same nest. Generally, they mate naturally in estrus from April to May, and the annual output is 1-2. Hedgehogs of 2-4 years old have reproductive ability. Female hedgehogs are restless in estrus and have secretions in their genitals. About 60 days pregnant, each baby has 4-6 babies, up to 8. Hedgehog gained weight after 35 days of fertilization, moved slowly after 45 days, and the perineum was slightly edema. Before giving birth, it looks for grass to make a nest. The newborn hedgehog has soft spines and no hair. After about 20 hours, the soft thorn will stand up and make a squeak. Birth weight 13- 15g. The soft spines of young hedgehogs began to harden and gradually increased after 3 days of birth. /kloc-Open eyes at 0/0, walk with teeth at 20, eat at 30, and nurse for 40-50 days. The average weight of 3-month-old hedgehogs can reach 320-350g, and the average monthly weight gain is about 100g. The period from lactation to 65,438+000 days after lactation is the fastest growing stage of hedgehog. Careful management is needed to ensure and improve skin quality and width.

Fourth, disease prevention. Common diseases of hedgehogs include gastroenteritis, dermatophytosis and ascariasis. Hedgehog with gastroenteritis, with blunt spines, weakness in walking, diarrhea and refusal to eat. Can reduce the amount of feed, feed oxytetracycline, each 1 tablet, and then mix it with the feed and feed it three times a day. You can also inject gentamicin, with 25,000 units per buttock. Hedgehog suffers from tinea and falls off white dander, which can be rubbed with tinea ointment and skin cream. Alternatively, the cut tobacco can be soaked in vinegar for 24 hours, and then trichlorfon can be added (crushed and mixed evenly) to rub the affected area. Hedgehog suffers from ascariasis, loss of appetite and lethargy. Ascarin can be fed twice a day, each time 1 tablet for 2 days. For hedgehogs without ascariasis, deworming should be done twice a year to ensure the healthy growth of hedgehogs and improve their fertility. Check whether the hedgehog is strong, see the luster of the thorn, see the fullness of the body, and see the tightness of the thorn.
