Chen Tuan (87 1 ~ 989) was a famous Taoist scholar in the Five Dynasties and the early Song Dynasty. The word "South" was given the name "Fu Yaozi" and the name "Yi Xi". He inherited the tradition of imagery and numbers since the Han Dynasty, and classified Huang Lao's inaction, Taoist cultivation methods, Confucian cultivation and Buddhist Zen into the first category, which had a great influence on Neo-Confucianism in the Song Dynasty. People from Zhenyuan, Bozhou (now Bo County, Anhui Province) said that "Zhou Pu worshiped the shrine (now Tongnan County)" (there are also people from Shaanxi, Xiluo and Sichuan Kuizhou).

Chen Tuan was born in zhenyuan county, Bozhou, when he was four or five years old, according to Song Wang's Story of a Hermit in Dongdu.

Li Zongge, a native of Emperor Taizong and Zhenzong (976 ~ 102 1) in the Northern Song Dynasty, is also known as Chen Tuan's "Zhou Pu shrine worshiper". It is clearly recorded in the Xiangfu Tujing, a sub-volume of Zhou Pu Tujing edited by Zhao Feng: "Chen Tuan is from the south and worships the shrine." "I quit my parents long ago to study Taoism. Either I live in Bo, or I live in Luo, or I live in Huashan as a China native." (1) Wang Xiangzhi pointed out: "Another version of Biezhuan was handed down by Xie Daoyuan, a Taoist priest in Qin Gui. His disciples have been handed down for more than 200 years, and his husband is also regarded as a worshipper. " (2) according to the concept of Qin Zhen, in Chongkan Town, Anju County. Perhaps the shrine is its ancestral home, which is unknown. Song Feng Bao Shu's book "Yi Xi Zhai in Chongkan Village" also clearly records: "My hometown is in Erlianzhu County, Chongkan Town at the beginning of the country, that is, my house is Lingshan Temple, and the amount of Xuanhe grant is' Qin Gui'. In the fifth year of Gande in the Northern Song Dynasty (967), the county was abolished as a town, and the former "Longtai Town" in Chongkan County was placed under the jurisdiction of Chongkan Town. After the integration of the two towns, Chongqing is two towns living together, referred to as "Lvli". Mr. You Shimin of Sichuan Literature and History Museum concluded in "Questions and Answers from Mr. Chen Tuan": "According to historical data, we should focus on the first statement and determine that Chen Tuan was born in Kannongji, Anyue County." The tombstone engraved with Chen Tuan's "self-praise inscription" is a unique object in China. The rock behind the tomb is engraved with the word "Fushou" inscribed by Chen Tuan, with a diameter of1.6m.. There are also inscriptions on the rocks behind the tomb, such as "the immortal trace of Tunan" and "the place where alchemy is easy". Truth Temple is still there, with a statue of Chen Tuan in it. Wang Zhijie's poem The Portrait of Yi Xi in the Temple of Truth is also a proof. Kannonji in Longxiang Town has Chentuan Dam; There is also the tablet of Yi Xi's hometown of Amin Dynasty stored in the house of Longxi Animal Husbandry Station; Anyue County has "Yi Xi Pool" (now belonging to the Bureau of Culture and Sports) and so on, which are recorded in the annals of Anyue County in various periods.

Chen Tuan was born in the late Tang Dynasty. Chen Tuan's life

When I was young, I liked reading hundreds of books about classic history. When I saw them, I knew I had never forgotten them, and my poems were famous. In Changxing (930 ~ 933) at the end of the Five Dynasties and Tang Dynasty, scholars were not the first to be promoted, so they did not seek official promotion. From the late Jin Dynasty to the late Zhou Dynasty, they entertained landscapes for more than 20 years. He said that he met Sun He, and Jiushiyan in Wudang Mountain could live in seclusion. Because I entered Wudang Mountain, I was persuaded to break the valley, but I drank several cups a day. According to the textual research of scholars in the Northern Song Dynasty, he went to Shu in Tianfu (936 ~ 944) in the late Jin Dynasty and learned "nose-locking" from He Changyi, a Taoist priest in Qiongzhou. Wei Tai called it "or sleeping for three years".

Chen Tuan was ambitious, but "too numerous to mention". He hated the chaos of the Five Dynasties and kept company with many monks and hermits, so he gradually formed the idea of "being born". In the second year of Tianfu (937), when I was in Shu, a poem said: "I said that Fu Rong was really an illusion, and I was so drunk that I praised the high arch. Because after listening to Hyunri, I had a dream. "

In November (956) of the third year of Xiande in the later Zhou Dynasty, Sejong wanted to put Yingjie in a cage and build a house with Zeng Jian because he didn't take the four directions. If he fails to realize his ambition, there will be a wizard who is far away from the horizon, so he is called under the que to ask about the skills of flying yellow and white. He replied, "Your Majesty is the son of heaven, and it is your duty to rule the world. What should you do with it? " He was ordered to advise the doctor (once he said "worship the left to pick up the remains"), but he refused. Give the title "Mr. Baiyun" (this is based on Wang Bizhi's Notes on Lu Shuiyanzi). A scholar, also known as Mr. Baiyun), was released to the mountain; He also ordered to write a letter to Cao, the secretariat of Huazhou, asking him to explain everything clearly and keep the problem until he was eighteen.

In the fifth year of Xiande (958), Zhu Xian, the secretariat of Chengzhou, resigned, and Sejong ordered 50 silks and 30 Jin of tea.

Chen Tuan pinned her hopes for the reunification of the Five Dynasties and Ten Countries on Zhao Kuangyin. It is said that Zhao reached the top. When he heard the news, he fell off the donkey with a smile and said, "This time the world will definitely collapse!" "

After entering the Song Dynasty, Emperor Taizong Zhao Guangyi summoned him twice. For the first time in the early years of Taiping and Xingguo, Taizong was very kind. The second time was in the ninth year of Taiping (or the first year of Yongxi, 984). According to Records of Emperor Taizong, A Mirror of Long Bian Zi Zhi and A Brief Account of the East Capital, Chen Tuan returned to Bianjing, dressed in feather clothes, and Emperor Taizong paid great attention to it. Prime Minister Song Qi and others said: "Don't be snobbish; You are a foreign scholar. I have been in Huashan for 40 years, almost 100 years old. I also said that the world is safe, so I came to Hajj. This meaning can also be interpreted. Even if the Chinese book is introduced, you can try to talk to it. " Song Qi asked: "Can Mr. Xuan Mo's cultivation be taught to others?" Chen Tuan replied: "At that time, people who slapped Shan Ye in the face were useless, and they didn't know the skill of the immortal Huang Bai, let alone pass on the principle of health preservation. What are the benefits of letting the days soar? Today, the Lord has a long face and good looks. He has a great understanding of the present and the present, and he is really the Lord of benevolence and holiness. For this reason, the monarch and the minister are United, and Xinghua is diligent in practice in the autumn of governance. " Song Qi's words on the table were more admired by Emperor Taizong. 10, the imperial edict issued, named him "Mr. Yi Xi", and made the company strengthen the repair of Huashan yuntaiguan. The Biography of Chen Tuan, the History of Song Dynasty, said that Chen Tuan could "understand people's wishes" and "the Book of Changes".

When he lived in seclusion in Wudang Mountain, he wrote eighty-one poems called "Nine Points to the Mystery", which talked about self-cultivation and self-cultivation. He also wrote 50 songs, such as Going to Dan, Yi Long Tu, Eight Commandments of Pinus densiflora (or Records of Pinus densiflora) and A Guide to Human Relations (or A Guide to Turtles). There are more than 600 poems and fables of Three Peaks, collected works of Lai and Yutang. According to legend, he inherited the "infinite map" and "innate map". Several articles were collected in Wen Song. Chen Tuan's works entitled "Orthodox Taoist Collection" include "Notes on the Song of Yin Zhenjun Returning to Dan". In the Southern Song Dynasty, Lv Zuqian compiled the Literature of the Imperial Dynasty and included it in his Preface to the Dragon Map. In Yuan Dynasty, Zhang Li compiled the preface and digital schema of Yi Long Tu into Yi Xiang Tu Shuo, which reflected his thought of Yi Xiang Tu. Yao Zeng recorded his theory in Dao Guan Shu Kong, which reflected his thought of "five emptiness".

Legend of Chen Tuan

Chen Chuan, alias Fu Yaozi, is a native of Haozhou. When he was five years old, he couldn't speak, so he was called "dumb boy". One day, while playing by the water, he met a Tsing Yi woman who claimed to be Miss Mao. The hairy girl took Chen Chuan to the mountain and fed him a few mouthfuls of nectar (milk). From then on, Chen Chuan opened her heart and began to speak. Catwoman threw a book into his arms again and presented a poem:

It's more dangerous for medicine seedlings not to be satisfied with barnyard grass.

Looking back on the way home, the phase will enter the smoke.

Chen Tuan can't talk. When he came home that day, he suddenly read out these four poems. His parents were surprised and asked him where he heard it. Chen Tuan said it was taught by Mao Nv and took out a book. It turned out to be Zhouyi.

Chen Tuan loves reading the Book of Changes, and he can't put it down. He practiced Buddhism all his life, and wrote 81 chapters of Zhi Xuan Pian, with the main content of guiding and returning to Dan, and devoted himself to guiding and repairing. In his latest book, he developed the method of Taoist cultivation and created a series of schemata, such as Infinite Diagram. He explored the origin of life and sought the way to prolong life with the theoretical system of "giving birth to people according to their nature" and "returning Dan with adversity", so he was honored as "the father of Chen Tuan" by post-Taoism.

Chen Tuan was familiar with gossip, and since then he has no books to read, aiming to be born. At the age of eighteen, when his parents died, he threw away his family wealth and lived in seclusion in the mountains. Later, I dreamed that Mao Nv taught him how to refine the shape into Qi, Qi into God, and God into emptiness, and he obeyed.

Scholar-officials came a long way, but Chen Tuan lay on his side and ignored him. When everyone saw him snoring like thunder, they all sighed and left.

Emperor Mingzong of the later Tang Dynasty heard of his name, and Imperial Book sent messengers to sign him out of the mountain with a letter. Chen Tuan didn't disobey the imperial edict, so he had to come to Luoyang to see the son of heaven. When he saw the son of heaven, Chen Tuan didn't worship, but he was shocked by Wu Wen. Mingzong didn't blame him and sighed, "The Gao family doesn't treat him with long ceremony." Take him to Lixian Hotel and take good care of him. Chen Tuan is useless. He just meditates on the futon in the morning and evening. Mingzong drove to Xinglixian Hotel for three transgressions of five times, and sometimes he happened to be sleeping, so he didn't bother him and went back. Feng Dao, the prime minister, suggested to Mingzong: "When the storm comes, it will be very cold for Chen Tuan to stand alone on the futon. If he drinks and wants a beautiful woman, don't worry that he won't accept the official title! " Mingzong nodded and said yes, and selected three young girls from the palace and sent them wine. "Mr. Wang must not refuse." "Chen Tuan readily accept, open a cup of drink, send beauty, don't refuse. Mingzong saw Long Yan run away. The next day, Feng was sent to rank, but there were only three beauties in the room, and Chen Tuan had long since disappeared. Feng asked, "Where is Mr. Chen Tuan? "The beauty said," Mr. Chen fell asleep after drinking and didn't wake up until the fifth watch. He said that we had worked hard all night and had nothing to give each other, so he wrote a poem to let us reply to the son of heaven and then floated out. " Feng had to take three beautiful women back to pick up the driver. Ming zong's poem is written like this:

Snow is the body, jade is the cheek. Thank you for sending it.

Chu Shi didn't dream of the Wuxia Gorge, but the goddess got off the balcony.

After reading the poem, Mingzong sighed and sent people everywhere to look for it, but there was no news.

Chen Tuan left Kyoto and went straight to Wudang Mountain in Zhou Jun for seclusion. One day, five old people came to ask him about the eight diagrams in Zhouyi, and Chen Tuan taught them. See its face as jade, and ask for education. Five old people passed on the method of dormancy to him. It turns out that hibernation is a way to imitate animals such as turtles and snakes to hibernate and not eat in winter. With this method, Chen Tuan can get through the trough, sometimes he can't sleep for months. Twenty years have passed in a blink of an eye. One day, five old people said to Chen Tuan, "We are the five dragons of Sun Moon Lake. Thanks to your teaching, we are willing to send you a good place." So Chen Chuan closed his eyes, put him under his wings and let him soar. Chen Tuan only felt his feet flying and the wind whistling in his ear. In an instant, he followed the ground with his feet. When I opened my eyes, I saw that the five old men had disappeared and landed on Jiushiyan in Huashan, Xiyue. Chen Tuan lived in seclusion.

Huashan Taoist was very surprised to see that there was no boiler in his residence. He watched secretly all day, and he did nothing but snore and sleep. Once, a Taoist priest didn't see him for several months, thinking that he had moved to another place, and came to the woodshed to move firewood, only to find him sleeping under it.

Another time, a woodcutter mowed the grass at the foot of the mountain and saw a body in the ravine. The dust is an inch high. The woodcutter is very poor and is going to dig a hole and bury it. When I pulled it up, I recognized Mr Chen Tuan. The woodcutter said, "What a good Mr. Chen Chuan, why did you die here?" I saw Chen Tuan stretch his waist, open his eyes and say, "I'm sleeping soundly. Why did you wake me up? " The woodcutter smiled.

Huayin county magistrate Wang Kui personally came to Huashan to inquire for Chen Tuan. When I arrived at Jiushiyan, I saw a bare stone and there was no cottage. I asked him, "where is Mr. Wang's residence?" Chen Tuan laugh, freely sing a way:

The height of Pengshan is my palace, and when it comes out, it will be a breeze.

So if you don't lock the gold, there will be white clouds when you come.

Wang Kui wanted to cut down trees and build temples for him, but Chen Tuan resolutely refused.

Later, these four poems reached Zhou Shizong's ears. Knowing that Chen Tuan is for Gao Shi, I specially called him and asked him the length of his national luck. Chen Tuan sang four more poems:

What a nice piece of wood, lush and without competition.

After a long time, add a heavy treasure cover.

Emperor Sejong's surname is Chai, and he is famous for his glory and lush wood, which is just right. He thinks he is a good omen, but he doesn't know that Zhao Kuangyin replaced Zhou Weidi, and the title is Song. The word "Song" was added to the "wood". Chen Tuan knew in advance that the Song Dynasty had enjoyed the country for a long time. Sejong wanted to give Chen Chuan the best title, but Chen Chuan refused to accept it and insisted on going back to the mountain.

Chen Qiao mutiny, Zhao Kuangyin put on a yellow robe and began to reign. Mr. Zhao happened to take a donkey to Huayin County. When he heard about it, he patted the donkey on the back and laughed. Someone asked, "Sir, what are you laughing at?" Mr. Wang said, "Your people's blessing has come! The world is finally at peace. "

One day, Chen Tuan was drinking in Chang 'an Hotel, and he met Zhao Kuangyin brothers and Zhao Jin who were also drinking. When Chen Tuan saw Zhao Jin sitting on the second Zhao, he dragged him to the next seat and said, "You are just a little star in the purple altar. How dare you take the lead? " Zhao Kuangyin then asked Mr. Wang about his future. Teacher Chen preached, "Your brothers are much older than him!" Zhao Kuangyin was conceited and later pacified the world, and sent people to welcome Chen Tuan to North Korea many times. Chen Tuan refused, so he was named "Mr. Yi Xi".

Later, when Song Taizu died, Emperor Taizong acceded to the throne, thinking about the hotel adventure, and calling Chen Chuanxiang, he agreed not to be a courtier. Chen Tuan followed the messenger to Beijing. Emperor Taizong asked him for advice and cultivation. According to Chen's legend, "The son of heaven is the king of a country. If he ascends to heaven during the day, what good will it do to the people? " Since you are a good minister, diligent in politics and benefiting people's livelihood, let's live forever. "Taizong nodded, more respect him. Soon, Chen Tuan bid farewell to Emperor Taizong and said that he would come back to see the feast in twenty years. Knowing that he couldn't stay, Emperor Taizong left.

In the last five years of the arch, Emperor Taizong reigned for 20 years and had not yet established a prince. He was in a hurry and thought, "Only Chen Chuan can predict the fortunes of personnel best, and only ask him to decide this matter." Just thought of here, the chamberlain reported that Chen Tuan requested. Emperor Taizong was frightened and asked him to enter the palace to ask; "What do you suggest this time, sir?" Legend of Chen: "I know that your majesty has doubts in his chest, and I have come to settle the case for your majesty." Taizong said with a smile, "If I had known Mr. Wang had foresight, it really happened today!" I'm worried about building a prince. Wang Xiangyuan is tolerant and kind, and has an emperor's education, but I don't know what the blessing is. He also bothered Mr. Xiang Fu to visit him. "Chen Tuan brought life, just came back in front of the duct house. Taizong asked, "Why didn't you come back?" Chen Tuan said, "I have seen it. Blessed are those who run back and forth in front of Xiangfu House. Why should I see the fragrant king again? " Emperor Taizong made up his mind, so he called and made A Xiang a prince on the same day, the later Emperor Zhenzong.

Chen Tuan stayed in Kyoto for a month and returned to Jiushiyan. At this time, more than 100 people, including Mu Bochang, Zhong Fang and others, were building houses under Huashan Mountain and listening to him teach Zhouyi day and night. Only the method of five dragons stabbing is not taught by Chen Chuan. One day, people in Mingmen, Chen Tuan, chiseled a stone room on the high rock at the mouth of Zhang Canyon. After the stone chamber was chiseled, Chen Tuan took his disciples to see it, only to see the clouds around him. Chen Tuan thought to herself, "This is what Mao Nv said:' The phase will turn into smoke'. Say that finish, knees sitting on the ground, right hand supporting the h, died with your eyes closed. So the master made a stone box to hold his body and put it in a stone room with a few feet long chain. As soon as the master left, the rock collapsed on its own and immediately became a precipice. I saw five-color auspicious clouds, which blocked the valley mouth and gradually dispersed after dozens of days. Later generations called this place Yi Xi Canyon.

During the reign of Xuanhe in Song Huizong, Taoist Xu Zhi often went to Huashan Mountain. When he saw a chain hanging down from the canyon, he climbed up and came to the stone house. I saw the lid of the box build by laying bricks or stones, and when I opened it, there was only one fairy bone, which was very fragrant. Xu zhichang adjusted the stone cover, climbed down, and sent Xu zhichang to bring a wick of royal incense, hoping to support him in the court with fairy bones.

Chen Tuan's achievements.

First of all, he created a series of "Yi" diagrams, such as Taiji Diagram and Congenital Fiona Fang Diagram, and became the founder of Taiji culture in China.

There was no "Taiji Map" in Chen Tuan before, nor did it form Taiji cultural form and its theoretical system. Chen Tuan created and drew a series of Yijing maps, such as Taiji Map, Congenital Map and Bagua Yi Tu. After the publication of Taiji Yin and Yang Theory, Zhou Dunyi's Taiji Map, Zhang Zai's Taihe Theory, Shao Yong's Huang Shi, Cheng Hao, Cheng Yi and Zhu's Yijing appeared. Zhang Zai (1020- 1077) inherited Chen Tuan's theory that "the universe is full of qi" and put forward the theory that "qi is too empty", which coincided with each other and became the first source of materialism in the Song Dynasty. It is not difficult to see that Chen Tuan should be the well-deserved founder of Taiji culture in China and Neo-Confucianism in Song Dynasty.

Second, he spread Heluo's mathematical theory by writing Preface to Dragon Map, and became the first person in China.

"Dragon Map", also known as "River Map", is the abbreviation of legends such as "Dragon Horse Begins to Negative Map" and "River Dragon Map". As early as the appointment of Shangshu, there was a record of "River Map". Because there is no map, scholars in the Han dynasty argue endlessly and have different opinions. Twenty volumes of "River Map" were lost in Yang Di (Yang Guang) War. In the last week of the Five Dynasties, Chen Tuan wrote Preface to the Dragon Map, also known as Preface to the Dragon Map. Only after the basic content of the dragon map was transmitted from the treasure house of Taoist culture did people know that the dragon map was an illustration of the mathematical origin of objects. Later, scientists realized that river map is the mother of mathematics and mathematics is the mother of science, thus realizing the great role of river map. The Preface to Yilong Map is an inspiration to Qin, a great mathematician in the Southern Song Dynasty. His mathematical foundation in the preface is "self-writing eight diagrams and nine domains", which is proof. It can be seen that Chen Tuan should be the first descendant of China's "Dragon Map".

3. Interpreting the method of changing the mind from righteousness, advocating innate Yi-ology, and providing a powerful reference for the development of natural science in China.

His innate Yi-ology is the originator of the new Yi-ology in Song Dynasty. The novelty lies in the integration of Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism, and the complementarity of the three religions, forming a complete philosophical system in ancient China. Chen Tuan believes that Kong Zhou's Book of Changes, as a Confucian doctrine, can no longer meet the needs of social development. Therefore, he clearly pointed out in "Notes on Yi Fa": "Those who learn Yi should gallop in the heart of the emperor and not be confined to the language." It advocates the unity of the three schools to govern the Book of Changes, to study, to govern the mind, to govern the body and to govern everything in the world. Under the guidance of this academic thought, Shao Yong, a great scholar (the third disciple of Chen Tuan), has been engaged in the study of innate Yi-ology for 30 years, and has written the great book Yu Jing, which is still an important reference book for physics, astronomy, ecology, natural environment and other natural sciences.

Chen Tuan admired the infinite picture and guided and perfected the Taoist philosophy of Inner alchemy. He not only made himself the first to become "the best sleeper in the world", but also made the secret theory of Inner alchemy open and socialized, which contributed greatly to the development of national fitness in China. Chen Tuan abandoned external Dan and valued internal Dan. He takes the body and mouth as the kitchen, the palace as the kitchen, the kidney as the water, the heart as the head, and the liver as the wood, which makes the wood generate a heart fire to refine the kidney water, thus achieving the dust change and forming an invaluable elixir in the human body. Its core is "nourishing the heart and kidney" to control people's desires and prevent barbaric desires from flooding, which is the purpose of his alchemy practice. This inner alchemy rule of strengthening the body and prolonging life still has important practical significance.

Fifthly, Guijian and Heart-to-heart led China's ancient physiognomy to the category of materialism.

"Gui Jian" clearly stated: "Those who have heaven are expensive, those who have land are rich, and those who have land will live longer". One day, there is land, and some people don't repair it. You can't judge a person by his appearance, as long as he is "sunny". In nature, as long as he earns the wealth of life by labor and wisdom, he lives in the world with "land" and regulates himself with Chinese virtues such as "virtue, benevolence and courtesy". The harmony between "heaven and earth" and "man" is not a delusion or recklessness, but an important symbol of man's overall, noble, rich and long life. He regarded the "fire and water" of natural matter as the source of human life, reiterated the view of ancient materialist philosophers that the origin of all things in the universe is matter, and maintained the materialist "theory of correspondence between man and nature"

Legend has it that Chen Tuan snored and slept here for 800 years, grinding the bluestone into a human trail, so it was called Chen Tuan Lie Trace. Now the human form is still visible.

Chen Tuan lives in seclusion in Xu Ling Cliff of Wudang Mountain in Hubei Province.

Chen Tuan's Legacy

It is said that more than 1000 years ago, in the Tang and Five Dynasties period outside the history of China, Zhao Kuangyin was just an ordinary soldier, loafing around all day, and had not yet become the emperor of the Great Song Dynasty. Zhao Kuangyin is good at playing chess. He is brave and resourceful. He has made rapid progress in chess and is an idle player. All of them were defeated by him, so he was a little proud, boasting that he was the best player in the world, and often felt that he could not compare with his opponent.

Zhao Kuangyin once went to Shaanxi with the army. When crossing Huashan Mountain, he heard that there was a Taoist priest named Chen Tuan, who was very good at chess and was well known. Zhao Kuangyin unconsciously went to Huashan to find an experienced chess player. Chen Chuan bodhi old zu saw that he was just a soldier and didn't want to play chess with him. Hearing this, Zhao Kuangyin said that he would bet on the whole Huashan Mountain-only to find that at the end of the chess game, he was too hasty to kill a son and was turned around by the bodhi old zu in Chen Tuan.
