How to cut and stretch in Lightroom
1. Adjust crops

The Modify Photo module contains tools and controls for cropping and correcting photos. Lightroom Classic CC's cropping and correcting controls work by first setting the cropping boundary, and then moving and rotating the image relative to the cropping boundary. Alternatively, you can use more traditional cropping and correction tools to drag directly in the photo.

When you adjust the crop overlay or move the image, Lightroom Classic CC will display a three-part grid in the crop box to help you create the final image. When you rotate an image, a denser grid is displayed to help you align the lines in the image.

Cut out the photos.

Select the crop overlay tool in the toolbar? , or press r key.

A border with an adjustment handle will be displayed around the photo.

Set the crop boundary by dragging the crop box pointer or the crop adjustment handle in the photo. The corner handle can be used to adjust the width and height of the image at the same time.

note:

After dragging the crop handle, select the crop box tool to use it.

Use the Hand tool to drag photos in the crop box to reposition them.

Optionally, select Lock to Twist to keep the crop bounding box in the image area after lens correction is applied. Lock Distortion can prevent photos from being distorted.

Click the Crop Overlay tool or press Enter (Windows) or Return (Mac OS) when you have finished cropping and correcting.

note:

Press the o key to cycle through the grid coverage of the clip area. To display the grid only when cropping, select Tools >; "tool overlay" > "automatic display". To disable the grid, choose tools > tool override > never show.

Cut according to the specified aspect ratio.

Select the crop overlay tool in the toolbar? .

The padlock icon in the toolbox can be used to indicate and control whether the clip control is locked.

Select an aspect ratio from the Aspect Ratio pop-up menu next to the padlock. Select Original Image to specify the original aspect ratio of the photo. Select Enter Custom Value to specify an aspect ratio that is not listed.

note:

Press Shift+A to select the clipping overlay tool corresponding to the aspect ratio you used last time.

Lightroom Classic CC can store up to five custom cropping scales. If more than five aspect ratios are created, the earliest aspect ratio will be deleted from the list.

Drag the crop handle or use the crop box tool to set the crop box.

note:

To temporarily lock to the current aspect ratio while dragging the crop handle, press Shift.

Toggle cropping direction

Drag in the photo to set the crop boundary.

Press the X key to change the direction from landscape to portrait, or from portrait to landscape.
