Zang Jianhe: the "Queen of jiaozi" who enjoys a good reputation in Asia.
The heroine of the story, Zang Jianhe, 1945, is from Qingdao. It turns out that there is a happy family. Her husband is an overseas Chinese in Thailand. They used to work in a hospital in Qingdao. Her husband is a doctor and she is a nurse.

1974, my husband returned to Thailand to settle down. 1977, Zang Jianhe came to Wan Li, Thailand with his two daughters from Qingdao to find a husband. Unexpectedly, his husband obeyed the arrangement of his mother-in-law who preferred sons to daughters and married another wife in Thailand. Zang Jianhe could never bear the life of two women serving one husband, so he had to leave Thailand to make a living in Hong Kong.

She rented a house of 4 square meters, accepted the severe challenge of fate and raised two daughters alone.

The Difficult Birth of "One" Brand

Because she didn't know Cantonese, Zang began to find jobs in Hong Kong that didn't require much communication, such as washing dishes, washing cars and personal care. This weak woman has tasted almost all the bottom jobs in Hong Kong.

If it weren't for an accident that almost paralyzed her, maybe Miss Zang would work at the bottom for a lifetime. At that time, she was working as a handyman in a restaurant. Unfortunately, she was injured and broke her waist. The cruel boss not only refused to admit that she was injured at work, but also mercilessly fired her.

Zang girl resolutely filed a lawsuit with the court and won the case. However, this competitive Shandong girl simply refused the restaurant owner's compensation of 30 thousand yuan, as long as she got the 4500 yuan she deserved. Later, Zang refused the help of the Hong Kong Social Welfare Department. Because she doesn't want to be a burden to this society.

For the sake of her daughter and life, Miss Zang pushed a trolley to Wan Chai Wharf, the transportation hub of Hong Kong at that time, and sold her "Beijing jiaozi". But "Beijing jiaozi" is just a general term. Business is booming. Someone reminded her to give jiaozi a name, so she added four words "Beijing jiaozi" to the trolley: Wanchai Wharf.

From then on, Miss Zang named the pier selling dumplings as the vendor's dumpling brand-Wan Chai Pier was officially born.

Two turning points of success

In her pioneering process, two important turning points contributed to the "Wan Chai Wharf" becoming a famous brand in jiaozi.

Jiaozi, which has been sold in Wan Chai Wharf for several years, has cultivated a group of loyal consumers with its unique taste. By chance, Japanese department stores are very old.

The spoiled and picky little daughter ate 15 "Wan Chai Wharf" dumplings at one go. Savvy Japanese businessmen immediately realized that this "Wan Chai Wharf" was no ordinary jiaozi, and it must have something unique. He made an appointment with Miss Zang to produce jiaozi in a Japanese department store factory. Japanese department stores repackage their products and operate them as products of Japanese department stores. However, in this second round of negotiations, Zang refused: "The brand I worked so hard to build is gone. I handed in the recipe and couldn't even be a hawker when I was kicked out. "

In the third round of negotiations, the Japanese side agreed to keep the "Wan Chai Wharf" brand, but the address and telephone number could not be typed on the package. Zang refused: "By listening to customers' feedback at any time, the taste of jiaozi has been improved. Without an address and telephone number, how can we communicate with customers to ensure product quality? "

The Japanese boss made a concession and was finally forced to agree to all the requirements of Zang girl, keeping the brand, phone number and address. Interestingly, when the Japanese boss asked her how much she would pay for wholesale to Japanese department stores, Miss Zang actually proposed the "sky-high price" of "12.5 yuan box". You know, the retail price of Miss Zang's box of jiaozi was "1 1 yuan a box".

The Japanese department store owner who has been operating in Hong Kong for 28 years admits: "You are the first and last supplier to sell goods to me at a wholesale price higher than the retail price."

With the comprehensive distribution of goods in hundreds of supermarkets in Japanese department stores, "Wan Chai Wharf" dumplings soon became the first brand of frozen food in Hong Kong. Up to now, Wan Chai Wharf has occupied 65,438+000% of the fresh jiaozi market and 30% of the quick-frozen jiaozi market.

"Three Big" Production Bases Built

1985, Miss Zang worked as a hawker for several years and finally opened the first factory in jiaozi. With jiaozi's entry into Japanese department stores in Hongkong, she has successively opened three jiaozi factories or factories in the front and back. On the eve of Hong Kong's return to China, when many people emigrated overseas, Miss Zang was quietly preparing to set up her first modern large-scale factory.

Finally, in 1996, a modern factory building of 1200 square meters was built in Hong Kong, which is an inch of land and gold. This has also enabled the "Wan Chai Wharf" to achieve a qualitative leap.

If the cooperation with Japanese department stores has turned Wan Chai Wharf from a small vendor into a small factory, then their cooperation with Pill *** ury Food Company of the United States has made the jiaozi production of Wan Chai Wharf realize a breakthrough turn to a modern factory.

1996 Zang girl, who has become a minor celebrity in Hong Kong, has received cooperation invitations from numerous companies, but they have all been declined. However, an American pill food company insisted on inviting Zang to visit the United States. "Looking at the advanced equipment and orderly management of American food companies, I promised to cooperate with them before leaving their factories." Miss Zang recalled the story.

From 65438 to 0997, Wan Chai Wharf and American Pill *** ury Food Company formally established a joint venture. Since then, with the help of the powerful financial strength and management level of American General Mills Company, Wanchai Wharf has stepped out of Hong Kong and started to enter the vast market in China.

1998, Zang Girl and Pill *** ury Food Company of the United States jointly established a factory in Pudong, Shanghai, with a total investment of100,000 US dollars, and "Wan Chai Wharf" dumplings officially entered the mainland market. Subsequently, the Guangzhou factory, which was rebuilt and expanded, was officially put into production. Zang girl revealed that although it occupies 20% to 25% of the market share of Beijing frozen products, Wan Chai Wharf has no production base in Beijing. She said: "The base for building a factory in Beijing has been selected, and a new production base will be built in Beijing next year."

With the completion of several production bases, dumplings in Wan Chai Wharf now account for half of the frozen food in South China, and the output of Wan Chai Wharf will be further improved. Next year, it will take the lead in exporting to Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia and other countries with strong demand. By then, Wan Chai Wharf will finally start to go global.

On the night of the anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China 10, Miss Zang and her family packed jiaozi and watched the splendid fireworks in Victoria Harbour.

From a weak woman who lives in Hong Kong without food and clothing but has to raise two children to a famous dumpling queen in Asia, Miss Zang tells the legendary story of Hong Kong with her 30 years of experience as a migrant worker in Hong Kong.
