Shanghai Theatre Academy, referred to as "Shangxi" for short, is an art college in China that trains performing arts professionals. Founded in 1945, it was established by Shanghai Municipal People's Government, China Municipal People's Government and Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It is one of the first batch of master's degree awarding units approved by the State Council. It has the right to award first-class doctor's degree and a postdoctoral research station, and has been selected for national construction.
Shanghai Theatre Academy has four campuses: Huashan Road Campus, Lianhua Road Campus, Hongqiao Road Campus and Pujiang Campus. The school has 2596 full-time students, including undergraduates 180 1 person. The campus covers an area of 35.53 hectares with a building area of 24,625 square meters. There are performance department, director department, drama literature department, stage art department, film and television college, drama college, dance college, creative college, music performance art center, Ministry of Public Education, graduate department 1 1, as well as affiliated drama college and affiliated dance college. The school has 2 postdoctoral mobile stations, 2 first-class discipline centers authorized by doctoral degrees and 4 first-class discipline centers authorized by master's degrees. The school has 20 undergraduate majors. According to the characteristics of cultivating specialized artistic talents in art colleges, there are also many professional directions under each major. Among them, there are 3 national specialties and Shanghai specialties 1 specialty.
The school has established cooperation mechanisms with major art troupes and colleges in China, and established school-level student practice bases with China National Theatre, National Grand Theatre, Beijing People's Art Theatre, Shanghai Theatre Art Center, Shanghai Song and Dance Troupe and Shanghai Yue Theatre, among which the base established in cooperation with Shanghai Theatre Art Center has become a national-level practice teaching base.
