Jonathan Barber of new york was named as the most potential modern drummer in 20 18. At the age of 29, he recorded records and traveled around the world with artists such as Pat Messeni, Nicholas Payton, Buster Williams, Jeremy pelt, Wallace Ronnie, Thales Martin, Jennifer Holliday, Harold Marbourne, Steve Davis OBE and Stephen Harris.
Barber was also invited to participate in some important performances, such as Jimmy Green's Ana Grace project (an all-star band composed of Green, Kenny Barron, john part Tutsi and Kurt Elling), and back-to-back concerts with Brooklyn Philharmonic and Erykah Badu at Bam Opera House.
Jonathan's experience
Besides being a member of the Stuart family for the first time, Barber has recently become a composer and conductor. His Vision Ahead band consists of saxophonist godwin Lewis, guitarist Andrew Renfrew, bassist Matt Dornsk and pianist Taber Gable.
Even considering Barber's high-profile performance and record history, DownBeat magazine called the first album of Vision Ahead his "greatest achievement to date".
Vision Ahead was released at the largest stage of Lockwood Concert Hall in May 20 18. This is a powerful declaration for a band, which has caused waves on the modern jazz stage since the first performance of the Smalls Jazz Club.
The band combines classical and swing jazz with gospel, rock, soul and fusion elements, which fully shows Barber's extensive style as a composer and performer. Jonathan Barber and looking forward to the future became the features and headlines of the rainy jazz festival held in St. Petersburg and Moscow, Russia on 20 18.
