What are the benefits of oats for cardiovascular patients?
As one of the highly nutritious foods, it is rich in linoleic acid, saponin, lecithin and B vitamins. It has obvious lipid-lowering effect on hyperlipidemia caused by endocrine disorders and nutritional disorders, can reduce serum cholesterol, triglyceride and β-lipoprotein, and can remove low-density lipoprotein deposited on blood vessel wall and prevent atherosclerosis. The Institute of Variety Resources of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences cooperated with Beijing 18 Hospital for several years, which proved that oats have the effect of preventing and treating hypertension. Patients eat 50 ~ 100g oatmeal for breakfast every day. After two months, cholesterol, triglyceride and low-density lipoprotein decreased by 14.5%, 17.3% and 159.7% mg respectively. Foreign researchers also found that oats can lower blood sugar, because oats contain polysaccharides-glucosinolates, which produce high viscosity after dissolution and adhere to the intestinal wall to prevent sugar absorption.
