How to modify the recording time length with the recording program that comes with windows?
Break through the recording limit of 1 minute with Windows tape recorder.

As we all know, Windows comes with a tape recorder, which can record with a microphone, but unfortunately, it can only record for one minute at a time, and it is not convenient to click the record button when recording again, so there are tape recorder applications on the market that break through the one-minute limit. But even if the application software is free, it is always troublesome to install too much. In fact, we can use a Windows recorder to record sound files over 1 minute.

The operation steps are as follows:

1, record an alternate sound file:

First record a sound file (the extension of the sound file is. Wav) record 1 minute, then click the record key once and save it on disk.

2. Get the correct recording time:

It is estimated that it will take a few minutes before recording the sound, then click the "Insert File …" command under the "Edit" menu of the recorder, select the file you saved before and click the "Open" button to insert the file. At this time, the length (in seconds) of the currently saved recording file is displayed in the Length box on the right side of the Recorder. If it's not enough, insert it a few times more. It is worth reminding that it is best to close other applications before "insert file …" to avoid running out of memory. Of course, it is best to record directly without opening any application after booting.

3. recording:

Ok, now click the record button to start recording.

What if there is still time after recording? The tape recorder provides a solution to this problem. Click "Delete the content after the current position" under the "Edit" menu, and the rest of the unnecessary parts will be cut off.

4, save the sound file:

Use the Save or Save As command under the File menu to save the sound file to disk. The next time you record, this file can also be used as the file inserted in step 2 to get the appropriate recording time.

How long can audio files be saved? I did an experiment. When the recording time is 20 minutes (1200 seconds), the storage is very smooth. However, when the audio file is inserted too many times and the recording time reaches 3048 seconds (more than 50 minutes), it cannot be saved normally (the local memory is 128MB).

5. Streamline sound files:

By default, sound files are stored as "radio quality", and 20 minutes of recording takes up about 26MB of storage space. If you want to save storage space, you can choose "Save As ..." under the file menu in step 4, click the "Change" button in the lower right corner of the dialog box, and select "Phone Quality" in the name drop-down menu of the pop-up dialog box. After saving, it is found that the sound file is nearly half thinner than the file directly saved (only about 13MB for 20 minutes of recording), and the sound quality is almost the same. In addition, you can also select the item "8000Hz, 8-bit, single tone" in the "Properties" drop-down menu (or select "CCITT-A Method" in the "Format" drop-down menu). After saving, you can see that it is only about 9MB, which is nearly two-thirds thinner than that of direct saving, but it is a little more noisy.

If you want to slim down the saved sound file, you can open the file in the tape recorder, then use the "Properties" command under the "File" menu, click the "Start Conversion" button in the dialog box, select a sound quality or property, and save it after conversion.
