What are acidic fruits and alkaline fruits?
1. acidic food

In foods containing moderate or large amounts of protein, there are more acid-producing elements than alkali-producing elements, but milk and some dairy products contain enough calcium to react with alkali. Although the content of protein in whole grains is not high, it is acidic because it contains excessive phosphorus in the form of phytic acid. Although most fruits will produce alkaline ash, such as plums, sour plums and cranberries, they are all net acidic in human body, because they contain organic acids that cannot be metabolized by human body and directly enter urine.

2. Alkaline food

Because of the low content of protein, fruits and vegetables are generally alkaline foods with more alkaline elements than acid-forming elements. Corn and lentils are acidic foods. People may wonder how those fruits with prominent sour taste, such as tomatoes, oranges and grapes, can be classified as alkaline foods. Because the organic acids they contain (citric acid, ascorbic acid, oxalic acid and other acids) are completely metabolized into carbon dioxide, water and energy in the body. Some dried fruits (coconuts, apricots and chestnuts) produce alkaline ash, while others (such as peanuts and walnuts) produce acidic ash.
