If you study in Hong Kong, you still need to complete a two-year internship as a lawyer (the same is true for Commonwealth graduates) after obtaining a bachelor's degree in law and a professional certificate in law from the University of Hong Kong or a bachelor's degree in law and a postgraduate certificate in law from the City University of Hong Kong.

You can qualify as a barrister or lawyer in Hong Kong through law graduates from other universities in the following ways:

First obtain a legal professional certificate/advanced legal certificate, and then work as a trainee lawyer for two years or a trainee barrister for one year;

Having passed or been exempted from the overseas lawyer qualification examination, and having obtained the lawyer qualification after being admitted, meeting the practice requirements; or

Pass the barrister qualification examination and complete the required barrister internship period.
